Read multiple reviews and articles on the top robotic vacuums before purchasing. Neato was continually in the top 2 best. Decided to go with the Neato over the roomba based on it’s features, suction, size of dust bin and mobile app for the price. I have hardwood floors with some runners; cleans the wood floor very well. It has little to no trouble over the rug / runners. It’s the first robotic vacuum we’ve ever owned and are very satisfied with it’s performance & easy to use app. We schedule it to vacuum at night 3 times a week to keep our living room, dining room, kitchen, hallway and sunroom clean.

This is the best vacuum cleaner robot available in market. Just like you I as confused between Roomba, Neato, Samsung and others. If you compare their reviews on multiple sites it becomes increasingly overwhelming and adds to your confusion. I did read CNET and consumer report reviews but I also asked a few friends and family for the review of the robots. Neato came at the top. I am happy with its vacuum capability, the time it takes to clean and efficiency. I love the way it covers the house. Now the downside - My 2 yr old is scared of it, lol. A black thing with a light on it moving around the house and making noises is fun for some toddlers and scary for others. She is taking her time to be friends with neato. On a serious note, the neato app is useless for me. I have been using it for over 6 months and the robot fails to operate though the app. It always shows the message 'Robot Offline' Even after reconfiguring the Wi-Fi per instructions a zillion times, the robot shows offline after a day or two of resetting. I also contacted Neato customer service and they were very nice with me. They also sent a replacement bot without a lot of questions. The new one I have is the same one. So maybe it is my internet and not the bot? But on the other side I have many other "smart" devices in my house and they don't give me such trouble. I don't depend on the app anymore and just use the button on the bot. I still love the unit as it does do its job very well.

Purchased on fairly deep discount via a sale to help out with the choir of vacuuming. Quite sure I could not afford the luxury of a robot vacuum cleaner at anything close to MSRP and even with the big savings my wife is skeptical of the whole endeavor. Random thoughts: Seems to clean pretty well (which is the whole point), seamlessly transitions from carpets to hard surfaces, app is pretty intuitive and works well, it has yet to get stuck navigating or get itself in trouble due to the laser navigation, is reasonably quiet, has a big enough bin to do the job, battery is big enough to handle my house, etc. So to sum it up, I have no complaints on my purchase so far, but it hasn't totally justified it's existence for my wife and I can't give a perfect review until I've had it for longer and better understand the total cost of ownership over the life of the product.

There are some connectivity issues, I have had to reconnect it to my network over 3 times. Outside of that as a robo vac it does a pretty great job. It has all the faults of an unmaned vac aka getting stuck in tight spots, sucking up cords/socks or other items that should haven been picked up -- no fualt of the bot -- it does a good job of sending notifications to the app to tell you when its having an issue. Its got a large bin, easy to empty. I love the little slot behind the bumper that can be used as a handle to easily pick up and move. All issues I have are software and app releated. If the app was better I would have done 5 stars. As it is half the time it does not reconise the set floor plan, which you can mark 'no-go lines' on so its likly to get into places you do not want it, and you have to manualy go start it, or go into the app and force it to start.

Neato Botvac D5 Connected: Does a great job on hardwoods and a good job collecting surface debris on carpets. If you want embedded dirt out of carpets you will have to use a standard vaccuum. I have a long haired dog and it is a great way to keep the shedding hair on the floor minimized if you use it daily. However it takes cleaning the brush off occassionally. Technical issues: I am generally able to figure out technical issues but have not been able to learn how to program the neato to be programmed to vaccuum on an automatic schedule, although it is just a push of a button to get it started manually. Returns to base 95% of the time for me. Things that prevent it from coming back to base would be entrapment or clogged from a rug, sock and so forth. Also you have to make sure you block the areas that it can get trapped (behind the couch, under some pieces of furniture), which you will learn with use. I have put a vase on each side of my couch to prevent it from going behind and put a box underneath one of my cabinets so it cannot get under it far enough to get trapped. I would highly recommend the best buy 2 yr service protection! My neato just decided to have issues so I am taking it to best buy today. Comparison to roomba: My son has a roomba which he loaned to me to see if I would like it before I got the neato $500. Roomba $800 is alot more expensive but does not work any better than my neato vaccuum. I did my research and found the neato has more suction power than the roomba and does a more accurate pattern of cleaning.

This vacuum does a great job. Comes with extra filters. Last about an hour. Finds its docking station everytime it's done. I have one on each floor. The app is great. Can see where it went and vacuumed. If it sucks something up it shouldn't it will notify you where it's at and turn off. I bought it on sale, great buy. Only 4 stars because it gets stuck occasionally on my stools. Since then I have made that a no zone and it knows not go by them.

Excellent suction power and navigation is superb. Easily gets everywhere and the post-use map shows you everywhere that has been cleaned. The only issue I've had with this product is the side brush stopped working not too long after purchase. However, even without the side brush it still cleans edges effectively due to the shape of this robot compared with circular robots.

Initial problem with pairing. Customer service very helpful. Unfortunately my router would not pair. My cable company switched our router to an Arris and we are now in business. The bot “Rosie” does a great job. Does our 1800 sq. Ft house on one recharge, and picks up a surprising amount of debris. We run her every other day, when she’s done our wood floors look great. Would recommend to anyone.

Works really well. It will miss a few things, in tighter corners or along edges. However, I'm not sure if any of them will get everything. It takes about an hour and 15 min to clean 900 square ft, then has to recharge. So it takes a recharge in between to complete my entire downstairs area. I have a dog and it does a great job at getting all the hair on hard surfaces and most of the hair on carpets. I also like that you can do spot cleans on the fly, or do a single room if you have a door you can close. The app is super easy to use and keeps you informed on what's going on....such as where the robot is at, whether the bin needs to be emptied or when it's done cleaning. It will provide a map of what was cleaned when it's done and back on it's base. I've not had any issue with it navigating over different surfaces...does a great job on hardwoods, carpets and area rugs without getting stuck or moving things around. I even have a couple sea grass rugs which it does a nice job on. Only complaint, if you can call it that because I don't really mind much, is the time it takes to fully charge, the fact it can't do a full 1600 sq ft on one charge and that at times it will miss a few things. Since I bought it 3 months ago, I've only brought out my big vacuum every few weeks to get along edges and get furniture or baseboards done. Because of that, this little robot has proven to be quite a time saver!!

We love Rosie, she was easy to program and does a great job cleaning up after our black lab whom sheds constantly. Rosie’s large bin allows her to clean 2500 Sq Ft of tile and carpet before alerting us she needs to be emptied. She gets into corners and monuvers easily around furniture with one exception of getting stuck underneath the coffee table after I placed the barrier strip provided that is no longer an issue. We run her daily while at work and empty her nightly, it’s wonderful to come home and not see black dog hair on blowing around the tile floors.

I've had 2 Roombas and when the latest started to fall apart, returned it under my Geek Squad plan and opted for a Neato instead. Overall, I like the pattern the Neato uses much better than the Roomba's random patterns. The Roomba did have a lower profile, though, so it went under qutie a bit more furniture than the Neato does. I like both a lot, so you're probably down to personal preference in terms of deciding between brands.

I purchased the product a few weeks ago, and my review is based on recent use. The vacuum cleaner is easy to set up, and after it was charged, it up and running quickly. It does a great job, and I am amazed at how much debris it picks up when used every couple of days (I have two people in the house and no pets). I purchased it because we will be adopting a dog in a couple of weeks. The vacuum is somewhat loud and would suggest using it while you are away or sleeping on a different floor. It took me a couple of cycles to "learn" how to prepare the area for cleaning, such as pushing in chairs and closing doors where the cleaning is not needed. You will need to service the sensors now and then so it will run efficiently. I have contacted Neato support, and I will give them rave reviews. They followed up with me via email to make sure their suggestions solved my problem.

After the first couple initial cleanings this little guy gets smarter and cleans much more efficiently. Only thing I can say is bad about it, is that it does not stay connected to the internet. I can only use the app about 30% of the time. The rest of the time its disconnected and needs to be rebooted.

After we moved in, I found myself having to vacuum our dark wood floors every other day just to keep the dust at bay. I bought the D5 on sale and it has been a lifesaver. Once it was programmed and updated, I don’t have to do much to keep it on track. The only reason it is 4 stars and not five is that the next model can be told where to go and where not to go - and that is what I will replace this with at the end of this one’s life. I don’t find the barrier strip effective to keep it off the long rug in the living room, where it gets stuck. It manages the bedroom carpet no problem.

Have not really had huge experience with it yet. Wrapped under the tree for Christmas, but I did use it briefly for a couple days before wrapping. Seems pretty easy to operate and did an okay job. Will like to see how it works with the app and remotely

I love the convenience of this little bot vac. However my original vac only lasted a year and stopped working. Luckily I had purchased Best Buy extended warranty and got a replacement. The current vac is about a year old so I can’t comment on it’s durability. You can’t beat these vacuums for keeping your floors clean while you do nothing! It’s a bit loud on tile but quieter than my dyson. They pick up a lot of dirt and work on carpet or bare floors. I love mine and hope it lasts.

Very intuitive, excellent navigation, pretty good cleaning (never really checked properly to see whether my Dyson would still pick dust after it). Got bricked by a software update Neato pushed, they fixed it under warranty, about a year ago. Then this week got in a boot cycle, apparently due to the LIDAR, but Neato customer service did a splendid job fixing it. Will buy a few more for our parents.

Not to bad of a vacume other than it needs a clear clean floor to do a good job... picks up well and limits the times a week I have to sweep up from 2-3 times a week to once. I’m happy with my purchase.

We purchased the Neato D5 Connected robot vacuum after reviewing several models. Best Buy happened to have this one on sale, so we bought it. I'm glad we did! It does a good job of vacuuming up our house with 2 cats. Only a couple of times has it lost connection to our wifi, but not really an issue. The app is cool in that you can run a special cycle and create no-go zones so you don't have to use the magnetic strips. Very satisfied!

Interesting product. Mapped out my upstairs and does indeed obey the no go lines I made on the floor plan. It will get lost if the starting point is not the dock. Not random like the Roomba but does a great job of cleaning more precisely and much faster. When it done cleaning it just zooms back to its dock unlike the Roomba which is usually wondering around looking for it’s dock until it runs out of battery power.
