Excellent cleaner, but didn't work in my warehouse

I've owned a more popular / expensive brand of vacuum robot. I knew that other brand would not work in a warehouse setting but I hoped the Neato would work.
The good: it's definitely more powerful, and has a far better brush for hard floors. I was very surprised at how effective it was on my concrete floor. Navigation is far more deliberate than the other unit, it makes obvious passes in rows.
The OK: it's pretty loud, like a little airplane. Probably because of the rubber blades smacking the floor.
The bad: I think my warehouse lighting and sheer openness of space confused it. It wasn't able to return home. But it did leave a very obvious clean area behind.
I'm bummed it didn't work out, but note that *no* devices are available to clean a really really large, open space.
If I am in the market for a new unit in a home setting, I would choose Neato.

Does better than I do

This little guy picks up an amazing amount of dust and hair. I have wood floors and two cats but this vacuum does a great job at keeping it clean. Be warned, it is noisy - I measured it at 90 db ( same as my Dyson ) - but as long as it keeps cleaning this good, I don't care. I took advantage of Best Buy's price match together with Neato's rebate and got it at a really good price.

We've got a career shedder--he turns his coat over every 7 days--so vacuuming or sweeping our hardwood floors is a necessity every other day. Enter the Neato Robotics XV Signature robot vacuum. Robo does an awesome job of picking up most of the hair. It won't get under our couch b/c of the height, but gets right under coffee tables and recliner chairs without a problem. It requires a return to its charging station to finish up, so sometimes there's a lag of 2-3 hours before it sets off again to finish, but we have it running in the middle of the day so by the time we get home it's done. It doesn't always find its charging station, but that might be because of the placement, something we'll change once we get settled into the house (we just moved in about a month ago). But it is soooo nice coming home and having the majority of the floors free of our dog's hair.
Overall, a great purchase that is well worth it.

Vacuum does an excellent job cleaning hardwood floor and robot logic sufficiently covers desired area. Avoids obstacle. Battery life could be longer, but doesn't impact performance too much because it recharges and then restarts cleaning where it left off.

I did a bit of research prior to purchasing this robot vacuum. One of the 'best buys' I've made at Best Buy. I couldn't be happier with the results. Sure, you have to hit the edges, corners, nooks and crannies; but with hardwood floors, it keeps me from having to sweep or vacuum every couple of days. This thing is fully programmable and it was interesting to watch its first run as it made it's way from the kitchen, dining area, hallway, guess bath and living room. It doesn't mop of course, but it is nice having a dust free floor without having to do a thing about it. I would highly recommend this particular robot vac to anyone. I tried it on carpet as well and it does a great job. It's great when you can see the difference between where it vacuumed and where it hadn't. It does my entire first floor with a week of dust and debris with only having to empty the dust bin once. The original roller is loud, so we bought the roller with the pet brush and it was a lot quieter. The power of suction is very good and it picks up stuff I didn't expect it to. This is a heavy unit. You can tell it's not made of cheap material. No problem with battery charging the entire first floor of my house, about 1200 square feet. The only thing to watch out for is stuff that can get caught up in the brush rollers. It will signal when something is stuck and stop so that it remembers where it is.

Love my robot. Had to let him run a few times until he fully mapped the house. Needs to be emptied after each run. It takes him 3 runs to vacuum the entire house. Haven't use my other vacuum since I got him. No need. Cleaned under the beds too!

I read reviews on the robot vacuum cleaners in the past and thought they were toys. Well after having this thing run around my house I am now convinced. We have new wood floor installed and I work from home. Every few days to goes about the business of running around the house cleaning. The surprising thing is how much it picks up each time. With no kids and just two adults who knew it would find so much dust and of course my wife's hair. It scans the rooms and if it runs low on battery it docks itself, charges and then goes back and finishes were it left off. My only complaint is the container has a filter that needs to be cleaned between each run. Its a small container and filter. I am going to have to get a supply of filters which I haven't researched yet. It squeaks sometimes and because of the amount of work it does I went back and put a warranty on it. Normally I don't do that but this thing deserves it. Other then that its a great addition that really does make a difference.

It's not worth the money. The bin has to be dumped after each room doesn't hold much at all. After first few times the filter in the bin is dirty and no way to clean it. Also it is confused it doesn't clean whole room and won't stay in one room, have to block off room or close doors and then it takes a long time to complete. I rather just use my vacuum. The only benefit I see in having this is to clean one room you can shut door and to clean under beds and so forth that you can't get a regular vacuum. Other than pointless.

This robot is definitely better than the ones I have had in the past. My biggest concern is that my other robots had brushes that had bristles, this one only had rubber rotation devices and I am never picking hair out of this one compared to the old ones. I guess I will have to look more closely at the bin to see if the hair is there but aside from that, we are very happy with our lil robot

It cleans well but i've noticed if you don't put the base in a wide open area, it will have trouble scanning the room. The directions recommend a 3' x 3' wide open area, i would recommend more than that.
It is also very loud on hardwood floors because it doesn't have brushes but more of a thin plastic/rubber bar in place of brushes. It's not nearly as loud if you have carpet. It has no problems going over obstacles and gets itself unstuck easily.
All in all i would buy again for the price over the roomba

We recently moved to a new home with a mixture of tile and carpet. I had been wanting a robot to help keep the floors clean, and the tile shows (and feels) the dirt pretty easy. When this was on a daily deal at a very good price, and had a 4+ star rating, I figured it would be a good time to see how it worked for us.
So, we've had running every day for about a week and a half. I can't speak to it's longevity, but I think we've used it enough to form a fair opinion about it.
So let's start with the good: it does seem to pick up a lot of stuff. It has no issue with transitioning from tile to carpet, or even on our short napped area rugs. Except for one couch , our furniture is low enough that it doesn't go under them. (the other one causes some problems, more on that later). Overall, it keeps our floors clean-er without one of us having to run the regular vacuum.
It does have it's own "personality" though. Our house is bigger than it can clean entirely on it's maximum three cycles because it spends a lot of time working it's way around chairs, kitchen island, end tables, etc. But it does get most of the house one day, and most of the rest the next, as it seems to alternate patterns.
It's gotten "lost" a couple times, where we had to put it back on the charger. Other times it hums along like a clock. If it gets under the one couch, it's guaranteed to get stuck, as the ends of the couch are lower than the middle. When that happens, it's lift couch up to recover the robot.
The battery capacity is pretty small. It'll run about 55 minutes, then go back to the charger for two hours, and is limited to 3 cycles of this before it decides it's done for the day. (must be union rules or something!)
But the absolute worst thing about it is it is LOUD on the tile floor. Not just a litle loud, but LOUD loud! I attribute that to the solid brush that does such a good job in the cleaning department. It was our hope to run this over night, on the schedule, but we don't want to wake the neighbors. On the carpet, it's very acceptable. You can even have a normal level conversation while it's working.
Overall, we are happy with it so far. The price was low enough that if it doesn't last, we won't feel completely ripped off. It does a good job of cleaning (at least it always has dirt in the bin when we empty it), and with it saving us pushing the big vacuum around so much, the minor inconveniences don't seem that bad. And it does provide a certain entertainment value in watching it zoom around.
So, I'll check the "recommend" box, but if I were talking to that friend, I'd certainly qualify that recommendation that it's not perfect.

It is so exciting to come home and have the dog hair gone! I have two labs and the hair is unbelievable. I do have to empty the bin daily which is not a big deal since I don't have to vacuum daily now! My only concern after having the Neato since December is that the dirt bin doesn't stay in well. I do have geek squad protection so I will be taking it in soon. Buy the protection- lots of moving parts=lots more can break.

I have ceramic floors and a dog I set the Near to clean the floor while I'm at work it cleans then parks itself when done when I get home all I have to do is empty the trash. You can set it for any day of the week. And any time. You just have to make sure ther is nothing on the floor that could get caught I it's brushes

I recently upgraded to this Neato after owning the XV-21. This one is louder however is much faster in cleaning the floors. I love the overall product of Neato. I have two German shepherds and this helps me keep my floors hairless!

The Neato Robot Vacuum is at a much better price point then the irobot units and it cleans in straight lines. Only downside is that is a little noisy, but it does a great job. Be prepared to empty the dust bin daily as this does pick up dust and pet hair very well.

Had to return a XV-21 because of electronic issue and bought this as a replacement. It was returned the next day. It was the loudest vacuum I have ever heard. If you absolutely will not be home when it runs, it cleans well. Orherwise, but the XV-21.

Pretty great. Always wanted one. Does exactly what I thought it would. Had to find an open spot on the wall for it. It does have trouble with some low items like chair feet. You have to make sure everything is picked up off the floor. That doesn't go well with me trying to be a slob. Duh. thats why I got this thing.
