A was a little hesitant about this, but convinced myself that I needed to try it before I committed. So I bit the bullet; installed it in 5 min (which was great!) the app installed quickly, QR code setup the rest. I lit a small controlled fire by it and it alerted verbally, the alarm went off, and my phone alerted me as well. I was sold on the spot. I'm going to test the CO this weekend, and I expect similar results. As one that has almost died two separate times because of CO--it is very important to me to test and make sure it works. The other thing that I really like about this, is that it lights up a ring when it senses motion, and lights up the hallway just right. It's has many settings and adjustments that you can tinker with, overall it's great. It still is a bit pricey, but I'll pay the premium for quality and protection.

I am a huge fan of technology. I am a bigger fan when technology works seamlessly. With Nest Protect and other Nest products, that is what the Protect does. It was an easy install but the set-up to establish a link to our other next products did take a few attempts. After everything was said and done, my partner and I was able to monitor our home with an internet connection. Another great feature regarding these products is that they communicate to one another. If you are not home then they can turn off devices to allow the home owner to save money. I can't wait to purchase more devices to have one in every room to save more money on our bills.

I bought the electrical Nest and it went up in a flash. Tested and works fine. Like the Night light feature. Used the smart phone to connect the NEST to the wifi.

The nest is a great product. It was very easy to install and set up with the app. I love being able to verify on my phone that everything is fine at home. There is a motion activated night light that you can disable if you want. The kids love to test the unit and hear the voice by pressing the oversized button. We did test the unit with a blown out match. It sent me a message warning me that there was a problem in my hallway. I love how you can link it with the hue and thermostat which I don't have because I can't afford them yet but am looking forward to them one day. Great product.

I bought this product since my previous detectors (one for smoke and one for Carbon Monoxide) were approaching 5 years of use...and recently they started chirping at 4am!!! So instead of buying 2 devices, I bought Nest Protect (also to complement my Nest Thermostat). Installation was very easy even for beginners. Now I can control thermostat and see status on my cellphone. Among all benefits of this product such as that it will send you a message when battery is going out, voice warnings, connectivity, I love motion activated path light the most! Excellent, high-quality product!

Pros: ease of instalation, 5he app to check the status of,night light function (able to turn on or off) Cons: expensive, not all functions are working.

After a kitchen remodel we needed to install a new smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. Nest makes a combination device and found that could be hard wired. This eliminates the need to replace batteries. It also provides a very subtle night light that illuminates when it detects motion in the vicinity which turns out to be a nice feature. The device transmits updates to my cell phone to reflect recent activity. Very cool.

So far I have nothing but good things to say about the Neat Protect. I have not had any false alarms or readings as some of the other have pointed out. Time will tell though as I have only had them now for 3 months. The path light function is great for illumination at night! The voice description functions help determine when the issue is instead of a general alarm.

I purchased 3 nest protects and was able to install and connect each one in less than 15 minutes. They were all able to communicate with each other and the app provided all notifications. The only problem I ran into was that about a week after install one of the Protects started signalling emergency smoke detection. At 3am this isn't fun. With a push of the button I was able to silence the alarm but it stayed red as if there was still an emergency. About 15 minutes went by and it indicated the emergency had passed. That day when I went to work, the same Protect issued the same emergency 3 additional times, and about 15 minutes later would say the emergency had passed. I decided to take down that protect and follow the cleaning instructions provided and reinstalled. There have not been any other false alarms since.

Really love my new Nest Protect. It was easy to set up and connect to my Wink Hub (optional, not needed) and I love the night light feature that comes on when I approach in the dark. I got the hardwired version but will be buying a second, battery operated version for the upstairs. Well worth the price.

Great product! Communicates via web, monitors smoke, CO2, power outages, battery life and more. Love the programmable night lite feature. Replaced very old (15 yrs +) detectors - very easy to install, simple programming instructions with audio guidance. Nest looks great too!

Highly recommend this product to replace those old smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors. two in one and looks so much more appealing. functionality is great along with versatile mounting locations. install was a breeze and they work with my nest thermostat as well.

I like the way the smoke alarm communicates with other Nest smoke detectors in the house to alert you to where the problem area is. The motion detecting night light is a nice feature. It also communicates with a Nest thermostat.

The Nest Smoke and Carbon Monoxide detector is miles ahead of the detector that I replaced. I chose the wired model. It fit the existing electrical box perfectly and has a very simple installation. The detector talks in a pleasing voice and can be tested easily. There are color codes to indicate the level of the emergency. Also it has a soft glow that lights for a short time to guide your way when lamps are turned out. I like the fact that one device does both smoke and carbon monoxide. I would definitely recommend it.

instillation was a breeze you just turn the backing plate until you find the slots that line up with the junction box in the wall (wired version). I had an issue with the initial setup on my Galaxy. all 4 nest protect units worked ok with mt wife's Iphone that had the instructions to switch to connect to the nest over wifi. probably would have worked had I known. can not set up from a computer using the web access. one thing I found odd is this product will let you know if the power is out. (I shut off the power to install just to the smoke detectors) had the power gone out in the whole house the router and internet would go so unless you have a batter backup on them kind of a not so useful feature.

The Nest smoke detector and carbon monoxide detector is easy to install. We like the integration with the Apple app and the Nest thermostat. I do not know how well it works at detecting fire or carbon monoxide as we had that experience. Hopefully we will never know.

The product was super easy to install. It works really well with the NEST system and Dropcams. There is a nice little feature that will detect movement and give you a dim path light if it is dark.

Replaced a hard wired smoke alarm. Installation and testing were easy and performance has been excellent. No false alarms to date. I will be adding another soon.

Installation worked exactly as described. A little pricy, but well worth it if an emergency ever occurs. Hope we never need to find out!

We tested it out (accidentally) while cooking. It is more sensitive than our regular smoke detectors, and instantly my husband received a text that smoke was detected. I'll admit that it is a little strange that it talks and tells you where it is going off (basically which detector). We received follow up texts while it was going off, and a text once the smoke had cleared. Our only issue is that if it is offline (if your wifi needs reset for instance) then you will not receive a text if it goes off. Overall a nice product.
