Worth the price to upgrade to Nest

Upgraded to Nest along with Surfboard gigabit modem and couldn't be happier. I have a strong consistent BLAZING fast connection all throughout my house and in the yard. I have a lot of smart bulbs and devices connected to this too and have never had dropped connections or slow speeds. Also super easy to set up and love all of the options it gives you. Highly recommended!

Wifi that just works

Wifi works just fine in my 3 level 3000sqft house with around 1000sqft each level. I have the router in the main (middle) level, and a wifi point upstairs. I was planning on adding another point in the lower level if needed. But so far I don't feel like I need to.

Then I had another powerline adapter which acted as another access point. With this, no matter how I placed these items, I couldn't get proper coverage for my property. House is 1750sqft, lot 9000sqft. I have a nest doorbell, 2 outdoor cams, guard, thermostat, 3 temp sensors, 6 wyze cams, and various tablets, phones, laptops, desktop, smart TVs, chromecast and nest hubs. These devices kept having random disconnects, weak wifi signals, slow speeds. I figured the devices kept switching between the different access points / router. I decided to upgrade to a mesh network. I picked up the router w/2 points and couldn't be happier. I recommend anyone to just get the package with 2 points, the price difference isn't much for the extra point compared to buying one separately. Plus the points are also google assistants. I setup my frontier modem to only act as a modem, set the nest router next to it, replaced the 2 old access points with these and everything is behaving as it should, all my problems are gone. The Google WiFi app is also very easy to use. I'm only upset that I didn't do this sooner.

I did some online research and Google Nest was a good, highly-rated solution. Installation was simple using my existing Google Fiber equipment. Based on the Google Home app, the performance has really increased with Nest, and I am not seeing problems with online meetings and streaming. I am very happy with the Google Nest mesh system.

But it bottlenecked my speeds way too much. I have 500 mbps up and down, but these set decreased it to no more than 100mbps down and 50 mbps up. Would not recommend unless it's a WiFi 6 system or have low internet.

Easy to set up and great o have two access points, one of them being a speaker also that plays music or takes requests, such as "test network speed" or "test mesh" connection, and also, change thermostat. The main access point does not have the speaker so put the second network box in a place where you'd enjoy the speaker system. So glad best buy sales guy steered me here

Nest Wifi

It covers our entire house. Our router prior to this would drop connections and half the time would hot work in the back of our house. With the new Nest router we haven't had any issues. It was easy to set up except for the Spectrum Box needed a firmware /software update. Once that was resolved everything worked great!

Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Easy set up, the range is not as great as my Erros was, very basic plug and play, when in range the speeds are amazing, but I would expect the mesh to work throughout my second floor which it is having difficulty extending. 1 of the mesh has gone off line at least 1 time per week, but the app advises you and when it did occur if the app couldn't run diagnostics I just did a soft reset. The Google Voice works well and integrates with other IOT items easily.

Posted .Hi justinianthethird, thanks for giving us feedback on the Nest Wifi. We’re glad to hear you had a great deal, and that it does the job. But we’re sorry to learn it’s a bit slower compared to your previous router.
It may be helpful to check the placement of your Wi-Fi router and point, which are vital to have reliable Wi-Fi throughout your home. As a general rule, points work best when they’re no more than two rooms away from each other. For example, if the far end of your house has weak Wi-Fi, don’t put a Wifi point in that exact spot. Instead, put it part way in that direction. Try to place it in an elevated position like on a shelf.
You can also try the following steps to see if the Wi-Fi performance will improve:
- Move the connected device closer to your Wifi router or point.
- Repositioning the points to avoid obstructions like walls, doors, and aquariums can improve performance.
- Make sure all unused devices are off and not draining bandwidth with large downloads.
- Check for possible sources of interference such as microwave ovens, refrigerators or other equipment.
- Run a mesh test to confirm placement of your Wifi points.

Easy set up, not for advanced use

Setting up advanced use, such as Static IP or port forwarding is not as simple, but it has great range! I do not lose connection in any part of the house and it seamlessly connects between the two points and I never notice a difference. The point has great sound and works well as a speaker for whole-home Spotify use. I wish I was able to get different colors, but it was still a great investment.
