Huge waste of money.

It feels cheap, very plasticy and the touch pad isn't flat... The yale and nest installation processes are vague and you haveto do them in a particular order. None of this is noted anywhere. The documents, paper and online, are all out of date and different from reality. The lock worked okay for about a day, but just okay. The loudest setting isn't loud enough for actual keypad usage, can't tell if it's locked or if the keys are being pressed by sound. Then the keypad died and went through a bunch of hoops to be told it would be 5 to 7 days to get a warranty claim processed on a $300 plastic lock, if I didn't like it I could return it.

Difficult time figuring out how to use the app as Nest sends me to Google Home and Google Home asks me to link to the lock but I can't figure out how to do it. Google Home is not very intuitive. Nest was much more but now I'm in this loop and can't use either.

There’s a terrible flaw that you should look up online before buying this lock. Short version—When the lock goes offline (could be for multiple reasons) it will not reconnect automatically. The result, I have had to do a factory reset several times after installing this deadbolt and am completely fed up with Nest. The lock still functions as a lock; however the main point of buying this one was to be connected to the internet. I should have bought the Ring instead.

A big challenge was to set up an intermediate device called NestConnect which makes the YALE lock accessible to your WIFi network. Without the NestConnect the device does not work with NEST. Extremely challenging to setup due to poor network connectivity.
