Setting up was easy and I downloaded the app to control it from a phone. Great connection tested the speed on my 600N compared it to this one and It came in a 90 mbs 600N was 40. It is kinda of big is the only downfall but it does however have the transformer built in to the router the 1900 model 7000 does not. I did not connect the DST because I don't need it so I don't have advice on that. I have a 2 story house it works fine all over.

Fast router, a few missing features

This router is easy to install. It worked well with the remote DST adapter. From a performance and reliability perspective, it was excellent. The missing function for me was 1) Inability to use router controlled parental control - you need to create an online account to make this happen unlike a competitive model. I might be old school but I like the router approach. 2) can't access updates and speed tests when a second router is in AP mode. 3) no netgear support for refurbished routers. But if you don't care about these issues, this is a very good router, reliable, good signal, excellent performance and easy to configure.

This was the third router I tried and this worked wonders, with the DST had uninterrupted high speed internet even on the first floor. the router was on the 2nd floor. Key is to plug the router in the main wall outlet and not in an extension, to get maximum output from the DST.

It eventually failed from a power surge, which is the weakness in this design...you cannot use it with a surge protector, or the DST (wifi extender) doesn't work. It also doesn't work on an AFCI circuit. The firmware was pretty good, and the range and reliability was awesome. Rarely if ever had to reboot it.

    Great WIFI coverage

I bought this WIFI router because I did not have good coverage of all of my home with my old one. Specifically this one comes with the DST adapter which extends WIFI coverage via house wiring. The actual WIFI router has excellent coverage on its own, but the DST adapter provides additional coverage if needed. The downside with the DST adapter, is it provides two additional WIFI nodes in addition to the two provided by the main router. This means you have to separately log onto a different node when you want the stronger signal from the local DST adapter. Not a big deal, but was unexpected. All in all the system works great.

This is a great product. It boosts my Wifi the way I need. I have a large home and the signal gets to every room. The included booster is alright though I have a different signal enhancer. Overall I am very pleased with the product and would buy it again. Price is also very reasonable for something as powerful as this router.

Purchased based on nighthawk name and to try out the included DST adaptor. This router works really reliably so far and has actually succeeded in providing great internet service to my whole single story home from the basement. I haven’t even used the DST adaptor yet. Really like the nice user interface, array of indicator lights, and consistent performance. The best router is one you don’t notice, and this one has done that well.

Title says it all. No issue with the router, barely any connectivity interruption. The plug in wifi extender is useless. Mine didn't even work but i didn't buy this unit for that- it does knock off a star on my rating, though. Don't buy this router if you need the extender because you will be disappointed.

I went refurbished to save money, and thought I might be giving up a little bit in quality. So far it has worked great, although sometimes it will slow down (rebooting it fixes this issue right away.)

My old router was not providing a good WIFI signal throughout the house so I purchased this refurbished router. Instructions for set up were clear enough that I was able to install myself and did not need the Geek Squad help that was included free with the purchase. Measured WIFI speeds and range before and after installation and both were much improved even before installing the included DST adapter.

    Great Router For The Price

We have been searching for a WIFI Router that could transmit a signal throughout our home. The unit comes with three prominent antennas that allow multiple direction setup. Also included with the purchase was a WIFI hot spot to further extend the network signal via AC plugin. This device offers gigabit transfer rates and separate WIFI channels to support more devices that require internet access. Setup was simple using the Netgear user interface and I have not had to reset the WIFI since purchased.

Improve coverage when compare to previous router (Netgear R6300). Just one problem, because of the DST the wireless repeater function is not available. No biggie but it was a surprise. I didn't give it 5 stars because my Netgear Routers do not seem to last more than 3 years.
