A: I am using a surge protector with mine so you can plug it into a extension and it will work and the adapter will still work

A: This is not a modem. It is a router with Wireless Access Point
Q: How much does this cost per month?
A: It is just a router (a device to broadcast wi-fi signal). You will need to setup internet service with a provider, they will provide you with a modem to get you online. The router just turns that internet you are paying for into wi-fi accessible internet in your home. It doesn't have a monthly fee.
