This device deserves serious consideration if you use streamed entertainment. It has a native understanding of most major streaming providers (Netflix, Hulu, etc.) and you access those services either by scrolling through services or by one-touch commands on the remote.
A few small things mar perfect satisfaction. Scrolling with the remote is sometimes laggy. The system shuts itself down when idle and requires minutes to reboot. It sometimes hangs requiring a TiVo-style yank the plug reset. Initial setup is best left to whomever set up your household wireless network. Finally, in my configuration, Netflix is unusable. Whether that is because there is too weak a network signal, or the NeoTV software interacts badly with the Netflix software, all Netflix shows hang after about a minute. I suspect a bad buffering algorithm (it waits to download more content and can't figure out how to resume playing.)
Bottom line, I'm happy enough I plan to buy another one for my kids. My TV is no longer anchored to the CableTV coax or a TiVo box. And that's cool.

I bought this great little box for streaming Netflix and Pandora on my bedroom TV. Now, I use several of the included apps; Hulu, Vudu, CinemaNow, YouTube. There are many more. The only one not included that I would like is Amazon. It doesn't link to iTunes, but with the keyboard remote it does a lot more than AppleTV or Roku for less money. It's annoying when it freezes, but all you need to do is unplug it for a few seconds. If you're not looking for a BD player with streaming, check out this little winner!

If the Logitech Revue had not suffered after a lightning strike, I would not have been in the market for a replacement. The Revue is hard to find, and what is available is too dear.
The Netgear product I got only serves to stream Netflix. I have no use for the other channels available, but it does do Hulu Plus. As a streaming device, it does work. There is a nearly complete keyboard in miniature that seems to work OK.
Unfortunately, Best Buy did not carry the better Netgear product that has a browser and other features. I would have spent that much more to have it.
I'm not giving this product much credit, but it does what it does OK. I would not recommend it - find the better product from Netgear.

Bought this on sale because I liked my WDTV so much I figured I'd try another streaming solution (and it was cheaper). The included remote is handy with the QWERTY keyboard on the back. However, don't use it much since the Netgear has fewer apps and seems to be generally slower. Setup was simple enough, but froze a few times and had to be restarted. So far haven't found the ability to switch audio tracks or subtitle tracks on my files - actually the first movie I tried this on didn't play with Audio at all... Need to spend more time with it, but haven't yet. I just plugged in my WDTV since it just worked.

This product is as described in that it offers a way to show (specific) streaming video content. The majority of content is podcasts (some VERY old) from a variety of suppliers. That is, there are ~daily CNN podcasts of the news, but only a couple minutes long. Youtube videos are easy to run. Pandora was a bright spot, as it works exactly as on the computer. I was hoping to be able to access free content on Hulu, but that was not an option.
I had a problem with showing the computer screen on the television because my laptop lacked the SPECIFIC Intel video accelerator chip. The only cost about $10, so I made install one at some point.
This is essentially a box to let you stream hulu+, netflix and similar paid channels without having to buy a Wii ( but, in general, very similar to getting Wii channels.) If I were to do this again, i might just spend the extra $40 and get an older, used Wii.

Easy to install. Performance was poor. From day one while watching netflix it would either freeze or re buffer multiple times through movie, I keep it for 2 weeks and it did not get any better. Took it back and replaced it with Roku. Have 3 Roku in house now and no problems with any of them.

Nice device. Works for what I mainly need it for. It has many of the popular apps available such as Hulu, Netflix, and Pandora. Haven't found much use for many of the other apps available. It did freeze once since I had it but I'm hoping this will not be a constant problem.

Pros:
- Very easy setup
- Can use your smartphone as a remote control
- Has most of the built in apps you'll probably want (and all of the ones I wanted)
- Also supports WiDi (with compatible computer, of course)
- Works with HDMI and Composite (Red, White, Yellow) RCA cables (Composite cable included, HDMI is sold separately)
Cons:
- Lots of apps that are pretty much junk
- HDMI works with one of my HD TV's, but not the other - make sure you've got a newer HDMI spec on your TV if you plan on using HDMI
- The WiDi is sketchy - quality of video is not what I expected and there are lip sync problems. These issues do not exist when laptop is connected to TV via HDMI.
- Device occasionally locks up and become unresponsive to any input from the included remote or through my smartphone. The only fix is to unplug the device and plug it back in.
The cons listed above, especially the last two, are the primary reason for the 3 star rating. The main reason I chose this product over other similar ones is because it also supported WiDi. I thought I would be getting more for my money by going this route, but the quality of the WiDi is just disappointing. Intel offers little to no support on this. I must admit, I'm at a bit of a loss as to whether the poor quality and lip sync problems are an issue with the WiDi technology itself or if it's the Netgear device. Considering my last "con" - that the device completely locks up, makes me lean towards Netgear being the problem. The built in Netflix app - the main app that I use - will occasionally just stop working - requiring a hard reset. Netgear customer service, based out of India, only tells me to do a factory reset. There are also annoying extra steps that you must take to "register" various apps (like Pandora and Facebook) through Netgear. I'm not sure why that is even a necessary step. The device sounds great on paper, but in the real world - it's only "okay". I'm honestly not sure if I would buy another one or not. I think I would rather experiment with some of my other options as this one just failed to meet my expectations.

I bought this to replace my aging media player that was having streaming issues. I liked the fact this player had a QWERTY keyboard as my old player did not. Doing a search with this player has taken the frustration out of searching. The only downside that I did not know before I bought it .........It does not have Amazon and as far as I can see no way to get Amazon. If I had known that I was trading up and not getting everything I wanted I probably would not have bought this player. The upside is that VUDU has some of the content I want but not all so now I have the old player set up or hook my computer up to the TV when I want something from Amazon.

The unit locks up frequently & has to be unplugged to reset. It does everything slowly. It takes so long to react to the remote's commands that you don't know if it has locked up or is trying to process prior requests.
The menus are poorly designed, with too many layers. Once you have reached the target channel it will not navigate back to interim menus. You have to go all the way back to the main menu, wait for it to load, then drill back down to another branch.

I've been looking basically for a device that I could use with my portable hard drive. My tv in my back bedroom had only hdmi connections while my portable hard drive has usb connections. the netgear neo tv max player gave me that option. I now can watch my videos, play my music, and view pictures just like it said it would. Streaming netflix, youtube, etc etc was just a bonus to me. Works great! The only trouble I had was with the remote which has a full keyboard on one side and standard buttons on the other side, just a matter of getting use to it.

Overall this product was usable but didn't live up to my expectations. The QWERTY keyboard on the back never worked, there was a delay in response time from when I clicked an arrow on the remote to when it actually happened on the screen, the internet access is only available if your computer has WiDi, the channel selection is not as good as Roku. Ultimately I returned it and purchased a Roku 2 which I am very happy with!

We liked the price, but find that speed is not the best. I don't want to say it is too bad as some of connectivity problem can also be wireless network. Although we have other devices on that network and never have issues. It work well most of the time and for the money it's about what I expected. If buy it again, and may for another room!

My primary reason for purchasing this was to be able to use my TV screen as a monitor. (I have a laptop and a flat panel, non-SMART TV.) Product is fine for this purpose. Being able to watch Netflix is a bonus. Usually need to hit remote keys several times before getting a result.

I used to connect my laptop to my TV to watch netflix. I got tired of doing that, so I bought this. It was easy to setup, it's small and unobtrusive. The lag of pushing a button on the remote and then seeing results a second or two later takes some patience, but it brings up netflix with no problems and I can watch movies. It would be nice to surf the web on it, but at the price, I'm happy with it.

This product isn't great, The remote isn't responsive as it should be, its 2012 a Remote should be able to be picked up from a across a room without pressing the button 3 times.
When watching netflix sometimes (most of the time) the content lags, and it lags to the point where no buttons on the remote are responsive, and you have to actually unplug the device,
Sometimes the device just blacks out, again causing me to unplug it.
the youtube app just sucks, you have watch every video in your subscription as a playlist.
And my microSD which was 32gb was completely damaged, it wont even play anymore, its brand freaking new, but because I had it in this defective device, its unreadable on every other device I put it in.
only plus to this device is the fling app

For the price, it does what's expected of the device; however, it runs extremely SLOW, even with upgraded high-speed internet. There are obviously better and more up-to-date units available.

Great for the price, easy set-up and plenty of features. Did my research and preferred over Roku because of You Tube availability. Very loud and still have not figured how to control the volume, my TV volume control soes not seem to work in doing that. Still expolring the device. Instruction guide is a bit skimpy though and could use some improvement.
