How I Spent Father’s Day: A Love Letter to Custome

12/28/2024 – I bought a shiny new Netgear router. Sleek, fast, expensive—basically the Ferrari of home networking. I had high hopes.
6/15/2025 – Father’s Day. You know, the day you’re supposed to relax, maybe grill something, and feel appreciated. Instead? My Netgear router died like Louie (my childhood hampster)—suddenly and without explanation.
So, I called customer support followed instructions, hoping for a resurrected router.
• Unplug and try another outlet – Classic. A timeless first step.
• Hold the reset button for 3 minutes – Okay, sure. I mean, that’s a full TikTok recipe video, but fine.
• Press reset, wait 10 seconds, unplug, repeat 10 times – I’m sorry, is this networking or summoning a demon?
• Connect an Ethernet cable to a computer and… try to connect – At this point I’m basically in a ‘90s hacker movie.
After this hour-long dance, I was told: “Great news! Just pay us $30 for advanced shipping, and we’ll send you a new device—you return the old one later.” Fine. No internet for a day, I can handle that. Maybe even talk to my family.
6/16/2025 – Day 2 without internet.
An email arrives! But instead of shipping confirmation, it’s:
“Please send us proof of purchase and label info.”
Oh. Cool. Just a quick follow-up that could’ve been mentioned yesterday while I was doing acrobatics with the router cable. But okay. Easy-peasy—I emailed the info that night.
6/17/2025 – Day 3 without internet.
Anantha calls. Poor guy. He drew the short straw.
“Because you purchased a premium router…”
Wait, pause. Premium? You mean the one that quit after 5 months and 18 days?
“…you have to send it to us first before we send a replacement.”
So let me get this straight: I pay more for a higher-end device and I get the privilege of waiting two weeks without internet while you inspect it like it’s a rare artifact?
Also, didn’t I pay for next-day shipping?
I asked for a supervisor. Anantha put me on hold. And… that was the last I ever heard from him. Anantha, if you’re reading this—blink twice if you’re okay.
6/18/2025 – Day 4 without internet.
At this point, my household had started asking “Is the internet back?” the way kids ask “Are we there yet?” on a road trip.
I realized Netgear wasn’t coming to save me.
But someone did…
Eero.
I got a new router, plugged it in, and boom—internet back. The heavens opened. A choir sang.

In Full Disclosure:
I’ve used Netgear for years. Never had a problem. But this time? This experience was like trying to cancel cable in the early 2000s.
The router broke. I followed every step. I paid for express service. I gave receipts, serial numbers, maybe even a few drops of blood.
And still—nothing.
The disorganization and “we’ll tell you what you need after you’ve done everything else” approach broke me.
So, I moved on.
And you know what? I’m happy with my decision.
(Also, I hope Anantha escaped the customer service vortex.)

Difference maker in terms of whole house coverage. Selecting slightly more square footage than you actually need is probably key. Easy to get up and running without any real hickups. It has a large footprint that takes a while to get used to visually but works great especially if your upgrading from an older nighthawk.

Setting up this router was easy, the dedicated app walked me through all the steps. I was able to get it up and running in around 10 minutes. The range is impressive—I'm able to get a strong, reliable signal throughout my two-story home. In terms of performance, it’s more than capable of supporting multiple HD video streams simultaneously without any noticeable buffering or lag, making it ideal for households with heavy streaming or multiple connected devices.

Title: Great
Description: Easy to install. Works great. Very fast on all our devices. So glad we upgraded from our old Netgear. It always worked well for 6 years. The new one is even faster. The range and signal strength is great. Works in all rooms of a large house.

This is my second Nighthawk product and while the previous one did its job fine for six years, its setup and maintenance was needlessly complicated. This new unit is as user friendly as I could hope. EZ setup and great performance.

Title: Great Router
Description: Great Router. Fairly easy to install if you download the correct App for it. Working great so far. I was having problems reaching my bedroom and the driveway with my old one, the distance was to far.

I originally tried a different router, (TP Link) but after multiple attempts I found that it was incompatible with Verizon Fios and also had poor IPv6 support. However I’ve had no issues with the Netgear BE6500, rock solid speed and very easy setup.

The installation was simple. I also love the simple password that i can commit to memory. The signal is strong and to date, it has not slowed down or created buffering when streaming movies.

I purchased the BE65009 to replace an old (per haps ancient would be better word) Netgear router. It works like a charm. Set up was simple and easy. I immediately noticed an increase in speed as well as strength of signal. A nice extra was that I could retain my old network name and passowrd. I highly recommend the router for a home network.

I procrastinated for years to get a stand alone modem and a stand alone router. I always went for convenience of the modem/router combo. Well the difference is a huge upgrade. The new router is very reliable, the range is more than enough and the speeds are amazing. Couldn’t be happier with the purchase.

This router was easy to set-up and extremely fast. It replaced an older model that wasn’t fully keeping up with the latest speeds available with fiber. The only critique is the unit is a bit tall, we previously had a “flatter” router with antennas on our entertainment stand, but had to put this on the floor next to the stand as it looked way out of place. Check the dimensions to make sure it fits what you have room for. Otherwise, awesome router that packs a big punch!

This new router's awesome! My old Asus was dropping signal constantly, making working from home a pain. Traded it in at Best Buy using my warranty – so glad I did! It's super fast and reliable, exactly what I needed.

Fastest and best router that I’ve had so far. Setup was easy to do on your own. Love it so far and Netgear and GEEK Squad support is available should you have any issues.
