Very easy to set up. The extender really helps with low signal points. The dual band really helps with connectivity options. Great buy overall

I was paying for 100 Mbps internet and getting about 45. After installing the Nighthawk I clocked in at 135 Mbps peak and average 85 Mbps throughout my home and surrounding property. The DST units will spread your coverage and kill dead spots by communicating through your existing electrical wiring system. Just don't use a power strip or UPS or GFI, that will disrupt your communication between the router and DST. My unit included Geek Squad support and they really helped the process.

This router has helped overcome plaster walls and other challenging architectural issues within my home. The signal is now very strong throughout, and the extender brings coverage up to the third floor without a problem. With four secure channels - Main/Main5G, Extender/Extender5G - and a guest network as well, there is no device that has trouble connecting and staying connected. What a great product!

We really wanted to upgrade to a mid-home router to provide better coverage. We've had it a month and does seem to drop out a bit more than we would have expected. Likewise, we can't protect the router from surges (such as thunderstorms) because it needs to be plugged directly into an electrical socket. Some mention of being able to use a surge "suppressor" or UPS. We bought a UPS and tried that, but it didn't connect to the DST. We are prone to thunderstorms and will just have to be diligent to unplug it when we have activity.

Great Wifi Upgrade

My old router (wireless N) was unable to keep up with the wireless traffic on my network, and as such, I needed an upgrade. Where I have spotty reception in my living room, I was using a Powerline Extender as well. I chose this router because it came with a Powerline Extender, so I could ensure at least the same coverage I had with my old equipment. For the most part, I'm happy with my purchase. While range didn't increase, bandwidth certainly did. SpeedTest over my old router capped out at 100 Mbps, while with the new router, I'm hitting 230 Mbps. Local network file transfers have also improved, even more dramatically, from a maximum of 10 MBps using my old router, to a maximum of 40 MBps using this new router. Of course, regular speeds will bounce around quite a bit, especially when several devices are all active on the wifi network, but overall, this router has improved my wifi network dramatically.
So, I'm sure you're wondering, 'It sounds like you love the router, so why only the 4 stars?' Well, the answer to that involves the included Powerline Extender. While it was great that the router included it, the router's power cord is the connection to drive the extender. While this seems good in theory, as there's less individual hardware to deal with, this configuration requires you to plug the router directly into the wall outlet. You can't use a UPS or even a basic power strip to try and protect the router from electrical spikes/surges, as they would interfere with the use of the Powerline Extender, and having it properly connect to the router. Obviously, if you don't need/want the extender, then you could plug this router into a power strip or UPS, however, if you don't need the extender, then you would probably be better off just getting the R7000. So because I feel that the router is at a slightly greater risk from electrical surges/spikes *because* the 'server end' of the Powerline Networking is built into the router's power supply, I felt that it didn't quite deserve a full 5 stars.

This router got great reviews on line so I decided to try it out. Easy setup and sleek design I had a little trouble setting up the extender because my media panel was plunged into a power strip I did not under stand that it sends a signal through your homes electrical wiring but once I plunged it into an outlet it worked perfect. 2200 square feet no problem picking up signal.

I am fortunate to be apart of the test program for the Nighthawk DST AC1900 Wireless-AC Gigabit Router with DST Adapter. My bedroom is a dead spot in the house and the DST adapter turn out the be the best solution.
Setup:
The direction for the setup is very straight forward. I connect the router to my cable modem and plug it into the wall outlet (you have to use the wall outlet in order to communicate with the DST adapter). Once the router is on, I plug the DST adapter to an outlet in my bedroom. The adapter established the connection to the router fairly quickly with the indicator on the adapter showing blue and green which means the connection is good. Next, I configure the outer using Netgear Genie using the wizard. I also connected my USB 3.0 hard drive and configured via the Netgear Genie to use as my NAS. The router firmware needs to updated during the initial setup. The GUI is intuitive and has many other features like guest network and QoS with I plan to use in the future.
The Test:
My cable speed is 100+MB. I connected to the adapter using 5Ghz was able to get the strong signal and speed at 92MB in my bedroom which used to be the dead spot. I used to get drop connection while watching Netflix in the living room and now not any more. The power line DST adapter is great and now i have good signal and speed throughout my house.
The beauty about the DST adapter is you can plug it to any room outlet where there's known dead spot which is great. Previously, I tried to use the WIFI bridge to solve the dead spot problem but it was not reliable and it's only supported 2.4GHz band at the time. The DST adapter proved to be the best solution for me.
A couple things to note is the router do run hot and the blue light is little bright so you need to consider the appropriate placement for the router. Tip: you should try each of the wireless channels and determined the best one to use in your case.

Bought this router after seeing reviews and top recommendation by Kim Komando website. It's simply a superior product! You just cannot beat having external antenna & this has three of them! I purchased the range extender package & together finally have wireless all thru our long house. Just remember to plug directly into wall outlet if you use the extender; no surge protector or no battery backup either! Its in the instructions, but not really highlighted.
