Coming from Netgears very first orbi system (rbr50), my expectations for this particular device was to get speeds closer to what I'm paying for (1 Gig). Unfortunately, this device performs worse than the device I was hoping to replace. The initial setup was fine. I much rather use the GUI as opposed to the app, but it was simple enough. The issue with this system is the purported backhaul. Netgear isnt clear what its running on, however, this system is running backhaul on the 2.4Ghz frequency. So imagine running speed tests with devices connected to the satellite on 1 gig internet service and getting 20Mbps up and down. Ridiculous. I'm running Apple TV, Fios TV+, PS portal, work laptop, amongst other bandwidth heavy devices on the satellite and there is no way that 2.4 backhaul is going to be able to keep up. I have a technology background and theres no way I'm going to fight to figure this out. I've factory reset, moved the satellite closer, removed the satellite and added it back, and shut off the 2.4 radio, but whatever algorithm netgear has going wont allow it to move to a 5Ghz frequency for backhaul. This is going back to Best Buy tomorrow.

I was having trouble with the router that was provided by my ISP and I decided to buy an Orbi system to extend my internet signal throughout my home. I am so glad I did. This system has provided the routing capability and the extension I needed and I have no trouble with slow internet anymore. It's a great system.

Was misled by all the 5star reviews. I have 1 gig fiber to my house. Verified by Ethernet to my laptop. The best I could get was 87 mbs on WiFi. Spent nearly 4 hours with netgear support staff in India. They finally said it was faulty and I returned it to BestBuy. The second unit is better but max speed is only 250 by WiFi ten feet from router. Mediocre performance and customer support rates an F.

First, I have to say the NetGear has come a long way from the simple plug and play times where everything can be easily done from the browser. Now everything you do on their systems pushes you to a garbage fire of an app. Second, the set up on the Orbi system is horrendous! It is incredibly slow taking 5-10 minutes for the router to boot, 5-10 minutes for the app to connect to the router, 20-30 minutes to set it up, another 5-10 minutes to boot up a satellite router, 5-10 minutes to connect to that, 10-15 minutes to set that router up.....Something Went Wrong Please Try Again.....The specs behind these routers is amazing, if you can get them to work. Unfortunately, I couldn't get them to work and the customer service is even worse. After many attempts to get the router and satellites to connect, I gave up and returned them. The main router work great, but its range just couldn't cover everything. Lastly, I must mention the ORBI app and its constant push for you pay for extra services that come on other routers for free and used to be on NetGear routers, for free. No one ever thought that you would have a subscription for your own wifi, but here we are! What and age we live in. Returned this product for 2 regular routers bridged together. Cheaper, easier, and no paywalls.

It's very disappointing that the wi-fi connection keeps dropping off of our Apple laptops. Not the iPhone's though. This model router's too expensive for this kind of trouble of unreliability. The router was initially easy enough to set up though.

I can understand electronics go bad but to subject your customer to jumping thru all the hoops of running diagnostics and taking pictures and videos and all that added crap just isn't worth it. While they FINALLY decided to stop stringing me along and send me a replacement. It will sit on a rack in a closet and ONLY pulled out in the catastrophic event my other 2 go bad. Burn me once and all that, I'll never buy this brand again that much is certain.

Could NOT get internet working on NetGear Modem

I Could NOT get this working with Xfinity internet and NetGear modem. I tried every type of turning off the modem and router and just wasn't able to get the modem to send internet to the router. I also worked in IT for a long time and know what I'm doing. I think the design is great and great packaging but the app setup was so bad. At one point in time the app told me i was connected to the Orbi Wifi and the only button available was troubleshoot connection. I just plugged my NetGeat nighthawk back in and instantly got internet. I'm going to try the Eero or Tp Link Mesh system and see what happens.
