Full WiFi Coverage for the Home
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We were excited to install the Netgear Orbi Whole Home AC220 Tri-band (RBK43). Our house is approximately 3600 sq feet and getting a consistent signal was always a struggle. Streaming videos were always a challenge in some of the upstairs bedrooms. We would encounter a lot of buffering. Some days we couldn’t even stream videos at all. We were impressed with the packaging and design of the Orbi. Everything was neatly arranged in the box and the instructions were easy to find. The packaging added to the feel that this was a quality product. We were impressed with the sleek design of the units and the way it lit up on the top when plugged in. The set up took about 30 minutes. We downloaded the Orbi app on to my iPhone and proceeded to follow the instructions. The only thing we noticed is that our Orbi RBK43 was not listed in the menu. We selected the product based on the picture showing one router and two satellites. We proceeded to follow the instructions and the app. We placed the router downstairs in our front room and the other satellites in two bedrooms upstairs; opposite sides of the house. The base station was able to recognize the two satellites and everything was good to go. As soon as we connected up the Orbis, we went to our laptops and iPads in different rooms run speed tests. We had just upgraded our internet at home to 300 mbps so we were excited to finally be able to maximize the speed. Before with my cable modem router, we were getting a download speed between 70 - 100 mbps on wifi. Now with the Orbi, we’re getting between 165 - 220 mbps download. Upload speeds remained the same. Even though we received the Orbi free through the Netgear Friends and Family program, they are an excellent value because it’s worth it to us to have that consistent coverage and streaming with no buffering. Especially when we rely so heavily on our internet to download and upload large files for our business. I would definitely recommend the Orbi to small businesses. It’s so important to have a reliable network.

Amazing WiFi System
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Our house has very obvious wifi dead zones that are always frustrating. We attempted to solve that by using wifi extenders but unfortunately those really didn’t help resolve the issue as they create a new access point which means you have to sign into the new “extended” wifi to gain access to wifi in that area. With the Orbi system, all of that was solved. It creates 1 continuous wifi signal for each location you place one of the Orbi satellites in (including the base unit). No more need for separate wifi access points and weak extended signals. Area’s where before the Orbi we had 1 bar of wifi, we now have full signal, and everywhere else throughout the house, full signal. Not only did this help cover indoor wifi dead spots, but we now also have been able to extend our wifi outside to our backyard and even our garage. This is a huge plus as we like to make cell calls via wifi. Now that our signal is continuous throughout our house we can freely us our mobile devices anywhere. The speed is far beyond what I thought this would provide. I put my wifes phone on the new system and without telling her there should be any speed difference she immediately said “wow this is a whole lot faster”. With a constant strong signal everything feels faster, and with the performance improvements Netgear has made it is faster. Speed tests in all areas were extremely impressive. As well as with all our connected streaming devices. 4 Chromebooks, 3 Chromecasts, 4 cell phones, and 2 tablets, 2 Plex servers all at various times pulling from the internet or streaming media can sometimes create a load on your wifi, but not with the Orbi system. I have yet to hit any issues where we experience latency. In terms of setup, it was actually simpler than I thought it would be. Just pull everything out of the box, download the app, and follow the directions. Within 20 minutes I had it unboxed and setup. Having the app help you set things up makes it very easy. No technical knowledge needed to set up not only the base but the satellites as well. Both satellites synced up perfectly on the first try. I even unplugged a satellite, moved it to a different location and plugged it back in, synced perfectly. I like the freedom of being able to relocate the satellites to new locations. *one note when setting up, makes sure after the setup is complete and you're connecting to the wifi for the first time, to “forget” the wifi settings in your mobile device. When you first set everything up, you connect to the wifi with a default password which your mobile device saves. Once the setup is complete if you changed the password, you mobile won’t know that and attempt to connect without and success. This isn’t an issue with the Netgear product, it's just a caveat that mobile devices don’t know you used a temp password to get in. If in your setup you changed the name of the SSID then this won’t be a problem. But not everyone does. :) This system would be great for anyone from a midsize to large house or even a small business owner as you are able to add wifi to various areas with ease. As a side note, each satellite also provides 4 networking ports as well which is a huge benefit for additional networking hookups. I did receive this for free from Netgear. However, seeing the value and performance I get out of this system I think it's well worth the price. This is not a single router wifi setup. This is a complete whole home, easy to use wifi system.

Great wifi system
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My current router went bad so I was in the market for a new one. It didn't really cover our 4000 sq ft house well when it was working. So I looked at the reviews on the site and talked to the tech at the store and decided on the orbi system over the eero. The orbi was simple to set up, it took less than 20 minutes and I placed the router in the middle of the house with one satellite at each end of the house. Speed is fantastic! I have no dead spots and have just started to set up guest networks etc. love the web user interface and have found no negatives at this point! Glad I got it!

Extremely Easy Setup
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Having read the positive CNET review about this Orbi unit, I admit I had high expectations for this system. Installation: I am not a tech wizard but setup was very straightforward with the help of the Android app. The app provides step by step instructions that a monkey could follow. Apologies for any offended monkeys out there. The only problem I encountered was getting the second satellite unit to be recognized initially. I neglected to plug it in at the point when the app suggested it and after plugging it in it was not recognized. I had to restart the setup process from the beginning twice and once I unplugged the power to the orphan satellite unit, the third time was the charm. I found the app even easier to use than printed instructions. After a quick firmware update the system was ready to rock. Performance: Our office received a strong signal with no dead spots. Multiple online speed tests yielded very good throughput. Features: I like the option to hardwire devices to the satellite unit via LAN. This way you aren't limited to a wiring setup just at the primary Orbi router location where you modem is located. This unit replaced a tri-band NETGEAR Nighthawk X6 router at our small business. With the X6, we would manually select which band to connect to between the available three (one single 2.4 and two 5Ghz bands). With this new Orbi, there is only one band to choose from. So far we have not experienced any problems with multiple folks using the single band as I understand it to have both 2.4 and 5Ghz. Overall, I was impressed at the ease of setup. I attribute my initial problems to user error and look forward to putting the Orbi system through it's paces at our office. I received the Orbi from NETGEAR for evaluation.

Great WiFi System, If Its In Your Budget
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a high quality, prosumer set of network equipment for everyone with a large house who wants great wifi coverage throughout. If you've had problems before with dead spots or slow speeds in certain places in your home, this should be exactly what you need. Here are some pros and cons. Pro + The build quality is great; these are well produced pieces of consumer equipment and don't feel cheap or chintzy. + Super easy to set up. Routers and wifi equipment shouldn't be hard (and you shouldn't have to interact with them much after setup) and this one is great in this regard. They provide both web based and a smartphone app methods to set everything up and with these options, setup is a breeze. + Orbi's Tri-Band radio system really is great at getting high bandwidth to the two satellite systems without much compromise. Speeds are great with this setup. + Each of the three Orbi pieces have ethernet ports, which are great for plugging in printers, video game consoles, desktop computers, or anything else that's near one of them for a hardwired connection. Con - A system like this with wireless backhaul will never be as reliable and as potentially fast as a system with wired access points. Make sure you're okay with the potential speed/bandwidth tradeoffs of using wireless to connect the main router to the satellites. - The price is admittedly steep. Be sure this is what you want before you shell out the money for it. As I said above, if you need great wireless speeds and bandwidth and have a bigger home, seriously consider this Netgear product. It should work great for you, if it fits your needs! Note: I received this free of charge as part of Netgear's First Look review program.

Another excellent product from Netgear!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was using an old Motorola Router and an ASUS WiFi system. The connection wasn't great. I only got around 20-25 Mbps on average when it's supposed to do at least 35 Mbps. It drops even lower at times. When I first got the Orbi AC 2200, I was pretty impressed by the packaging and the experience of opening the box — everything feels very premium. As expected, when I opened the box I got 1 Orbi WiFi Router and 2 Orbi Satellites with the adapters, etc.. I thought the setup would take a while. But after following the instructions, I was done in less than half an hour. I also like the Orbi's dedicated mobile app to help with the setup. After the setup was finished, I did speed tests on my phone and computer. Guess what? Speed went up to about 40-45 Mbps. That's about twice the speed I used to get! I'm finally getting the speed I deserve. I also noticed much improvement on the coverage and connection stability. WiFi signal are strong and stable in places which used to be "dead zones." Overall, I'm very happy with the product!

Awesome and fast!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have never written a review but am so happy with my Orbi system that I had to. It is easy to set up and gets flawless super fast connection throughout all areas of my 3500 sq/ft house! I have struggled through a month of 12 hours of phone calls, escalations, replacements and firmware updates with Linksys (because they were supposedly the best) before I gave up and switched to my tried and true Netgear. So glad I did!! Trust me and just go for Orbi to start.

Works Perfectly for my 3000sqft Business
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Review after installing five weeks ago. Setup. It took me two tries to set up the unit using the Orbi app on my phone. I just reset the unit, uninstall and install the app then I was back in business. Performance. Over the weeks I moved the Satellite units to different locations throughout the business to test for signal degration and there was not loss whatsoever.. Orbi has exceeded my expectation even after five weeks. I had been using several extenders prior to that. The problem I would have was that an extender would go down, have to be reset which became annoying after a while. Time is money and the cost of this Orbi is insignificant compared to the loss of productivity every time I have to service my previous setup. I would recommend this to any small business owner. You are going to wonder why you have not purchased this system a long time ago; seriously. I was very fortunate that I received this unit free from NETGEAR as a product tester. -Paully2001

Excellent Coverage for Large Homes
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We replaced our old Netgear setup (basic router, not sure which one, plus extender) with the Orbi System last week. So far we are very pleased with the performance. We used to have spotty connection sometimes with our old setup, but now coverage is excellent and we can get a strong signal in our front/back yards (7,000sq ft lot). Setup was pretty easy. You have to download an app, but it walks you through step by step, which is nice. Also, if you keep the app on your phone, you can see which devices are connected to your router and change passwords easily. Another thing we like is that the two extra "satellites" use the same network. Our old setup was a little confusing since there were 4 options (2G/5G for both the router and extender). Very happy with the product, but I think the price would have deterred us from purchasing. Netgear sent us this product for free to test/review.

Setup was Simple and Works like a Champ
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After seeing great technical specs for this product, but then reading customer reviews about dismal setup issues, I was hesitant to make the purchase. But the technical specs convinced me this product was worth the try. I can now report that those concerned about negative setup reviews should NOT let them dissuade you from the purchase. My setup experience with the Orbi product was simple, quick, and flawless. That is not to say that you could never have an issue, but that I truly doubt most people will. The system installed in minutes and has resolved all my previous issues with WiFi access across my three-story home. Before, my cell phone couldn't hold the WiFi signal from Verizon's best router in the basement when I was standing in the first floor kitchen just above it. Now I get a super strong signal even in the third-floor bedroom (with a satellite on each floor). Don't let your ISP try to up-sell you on more bandwidth before you try a home WiFi system upgrade like this from Orbi. I would bet in most cases, the issue isn't the throughput from your router to the Internet, but the lack of WiFi throughput from your device to your router. This system, or one like it, will solve that issue once and for all.

Great System for covering a large house
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Orbi home wifi system was very easy to setup and deploy. I followed the instructions and had all three units connected and working in under 20 minutes. It even has a mobile app to help with configuration. I found this to be very convenient. I have had issues getting a good signal to my garage, so I was very pleased when I put one of the satellites in there and it connected with a strong signal. The Orbi system uses a separate channel for the backbone connection, so I appreciate getting the full connection for my devices. I received the Orbi home wifi system as part of the Netgear first look program and it is the best home wifi system I have ever had.

Easy Setup, Great Coverage
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been using the Orbi AC2200 in my home over the past week. I live in a large older place where hard-wiring the place with network cabling isn't really feasible. Prior to the orbi system I was using a mixture of access points to extend coverage across the house. Setup - Getting the Orbi system up and running was a breeze. From unboxing to having everything up and running took a total of about 20 minutes. Once everything was plugged in i downloaded the app on my phone, and completed the setup. The steps were clear and easy to follow. Once the firmware updated and the router rebooted i was up and running on all of my devices. Performance - The wireless coverage has been spectacular. Walking around the house and testing the signal on multiple devices I have not had any issues with drops or low connection speeds on any phone or tablet devices. Network speeds have also been fantastic from transferring files from my laptop to my NAS to streaming Nexflix to multiple devices at one time. Features - My favorite feature is the wired ports on each of the devices. While I wish the main router had more than three ports, the additional ports on the satellites provides a lot of flexibility in rooms where they are placed. The single network name has made connecting all of my devices easy and allows for easy switching between the router and satellites when moving around. I did have an issue with one Windows 10 PC that would constantly switch between satellites and would end up dropping intermittently dropping the connection. Moving the satellites further away from each other seems to have cleared the issue up. Overall while the system isn't cheap, its ease of setup, performance, and features makes it one to consider if you are in the market for a new wireless system. I received Orbi for free from NETGEAR for an honest review.

Great system
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I can finally enjoy my super fast Verizon internet with this system. My home is about 4500 sqft. And now there's no dead spots and the WiFi is extremely fast in every room. All 5 of the Amazon TVs have zero lag now. Setup was pretty easy. I used the app to do the setup.

WiFi every corner
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Pretty easy and simple setup. Not many guidelines needed even for people who are not tech savvy. I opened up the packaging and placed the satellites in the spotty wifi corners of the house right away. I was very hopeful in ending the era of weak wifi. I then downloaded the free Orbi app as recommended and followed the simple instructions. Setup took less than 20 minutes and no real assistance was needed. However, I did struggle with creating a new Netgear account so I would appreciate if the password and confirming password issue gets resolved. Luckily, you can forego and skip ahead to continue setting up the router and wifi. I really liked that the satellites synced up right away after the router turned on and the app was a very helpful guide for those who are not familiar with where they might need to setup their satellites. I've heard a few people share about this new mesh network idea of Wifi being way better than a range extender. This household has experienced its fair share of struggles with spotty wifi especially when multiple devices are connected so we did invest in the EX2700 as a temporary solution. Reading the technical specs on the packaging wasn't particularly helpful for an average joe. But I am happy to report the all encompassing wifi coverage works! Our back rooms of the house can now receive wifi which was previously not in range even with the extender. I'm not exactly sure how this new MU-MIMO technology listed on the box works but I'm all for simultaneous data streaming. We no longer have to suffer or sacrifice speed or connectivity when using multiple devices simultaneously. In regard to internet speed, I wish it could improve with a higher Mbps. You get the highest speed for what you pay for. And the best part is breaking away from the typical box-y design with antennae and blinding lights. I love the new sleek cylindrical shape that blends in with our home. Just beware not to mistaken it as a humidifier. I received this product for free to review and I love it! I think it's a great investment for small businesses especially free lancers or office spaces that require constant connectivity.

Thoroughly Met Expectations
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My house is two story and 3,250 sq ft. Before, my family was getting by using WiFi extenders, which worked for the most part, but internet coverage was still a bit unreliable in some parts of the house. After researching the mesh technology that Orbi provided, I was very intrigued and optimistic about its benefits. I am, by far, not the most tech savvy person, so set up was giving me a bit of apprehension. Set us was SO easy once we got the app and followed all of the simple directions. However, it should be noted, before we tried the app, we tried to get set up information via the web address they gave us. In order to access that website, we had to sign in to an account (that we didn't have) We tried the internet password and everything but nothing seemed to work so we just gave in and got the app. After we set everything up, our coverage was so much better! It wasn't that our internet was that bad before but I definitely noticed a difference in how fast i could stream movies and surf the web. Also, it didn't matter where i was in the house, the coverage seemed to be consistent throughout. It's definitely a step up from the extenders, because those only duplicate your signal, whereas these create a larger coverage via the tri band technology. Overall, Orbi definitely delivers and met all of my exceptions. Definitely would be a good choice for a small business. My family generously received this Orbi set from Netgear for free because the company I work for handles some of Netgear's graphic design.

Easy to use
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It has been over a week since I connected this wi-fi extender and so far I am very happy with its performance. First, it's very easy to install and use just connect your internet at the back of the Router and place the satellites away in order to extend the signal, don't forget to connect them into a power supply and turn them on. An easy way to obtain the perfect distance and signal is by checking the color of the ring on the top of the devices: Blue = Good Signal. and you are ready to go. Since I installed the Orbi AC2200 I noticed that my internet connection is more stable and I have good coverage even outside of my house which I hadn't before. Second: I am not a tech guy but I like to have different gadgets with internet connection. I use internet to listen music, download stuff, to read, and to do little office work and lately to play movies for my little kid so I need to have a good coverage all over the house. I would recommend Orbi AC2200 because it's easy to use, basically plug and play and the most important: provides good coverage and a good wireless connection. I received this product free of charge as part of Netgear First Look Review Program

WiFi in every corner!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Living in a 6800 sq foot house, my family struggled to get a decent wifi signal outside of three rooms on the top floor. We tried to remedy this with a Linksys range extender but it did not improve the signal strength by much. When we opened the Orbi, we were surprised to find how simple the packaging was. Every part came in its own compartment. The Orbi came with two satellites and a router, an Ethernet cable, and three power cords. We watched a YouTube video created by Netgear to learn how to install the Orbi. We installed the two satellites on both ends of the first floor and the router in the middle of the second floor. This entire process took about 30 minutes. We tested out the internet in every room and found that we now had signal in every corner of our house - even in front of our driveway! We were impressed by the easy installation and effective coverage in our house. We received the Orbi through the Netgear Family and Friends Program.
