Great game but not very long or challenging.

This game is super fun. The colors are nice, the gameplay is smooth, the characters are cute, and the story is intriguing. One of my complaints about it is that it is a bit too short and it isn't that difficult. I was able to beat the game in 10 hours. It gave me nostalgia as it reminded me of games like Spyro or Crash Bandicoot. The hidden puzzles are a very unique touch. The puzzles are simple enough to solve but challenging enough to take effort. I would have also liked to see more benefit to collecting thousands of coins other than to exchange them for costumes. The costumes aren't anything more than cosmetic. This is a great game and is well suited for younger audiences but for avid gamers, it's not a huge challenge and good for a quick time killer.

Super Mario World 3d Meets Banjo Kazooie

I am floored with how much I enjoyed this came, start to finish (~13 hours 100% completion). The game has a little bit of everything, open sandbox exploration, linear 3d progression, linear 2.5d progression (think 2d Mario platformer), and puzzles. As the summary says, it reminds me of a cross between Banjo Kazooie and Super Mario World 3D. The dialog is great and punny (For example, there is a joke about a mail golem being bad at comedy because he has terrible delivery). The controls are forgiving which is a bit of a miss on most 3d platformers. For instance, if you're close to an edge dropping down to a landing, it will snap you to that edge, where other 3d platformers leave no margin for error, typically leading to one standing up and yelling at the TV as the character falls into the abyss. This is not to say it makes the game easy, it just makes it fair. Boss battles are an increasing challenge, with the post game levels being particularly challenging (again, similar to those of Super Mario World 3D). The onomatopoeia voicing is great too...(The ghost says "spookaboo") Everything just fits perfectly. The only negative I can state about the game is it's a bit shorter than I would have liked. It is left open at the end for a continuation, which is part of why I "feel" like it was a short game. The story was left unfinished but hit a reasonable stopping point. Provided they have a NSLT 2 coming down the pipeline (though nothing has been announced at the time of this review), I'm good with this. The other reason I "feel" like it was a short game is my own perception. It's so well polished, my mind can't help but compare it to similar games with a much larger budget like Mario Odyssey. It's an unfair comparison. Given the choice between a larger/longer unpolished game, or this, I would take this game without question. For some reason the save file won't backup online, but I don't mind that either. I'm going to play through it again in the future anyway. Bottom line, if you enjoyed any of the Mario 3d games (Galaxy, World/Land 3D, Odyssey), or the N64 platformers (Banjo Kazooie, Donkey Kong 64) I'm almost 100% sure you'll enjoy this game. Very well done and polished.

Super Luckys Tale is not a difficult game, and it never purports to be. However, this doesn't take away from the enjoyment of the game at all, and Lucky himself controls incredibly smoothly, making gameplay a lot of fun. There is also a simple story happening in the background that will allow you to be engaged, but it is exactly that: simple. The game is not long (100% in about 8-9 hours max), but it is perfect on the switch with great pick up and put down gameplay. Would recommend for 3D platformer fans in general, as well as for parents looking for a safe, fun game for the kids.

I wasn't familiar with New Super Lucky's Tale but decided to purchase it after trying the demo. I'm glad I did because it is a fun platformer. There are about 5 main worlds, with a number of stages in each, which range from 3D exploration-style stages to 2D side-scroller stages and even a few "runner" stages. You have to beat a set amount of stages to progress, but the limit is not too high so new gamers can keep going without doing everything. For completionists though, you will want to beat and collect everything to unlock all the costumes and open up the bonus world, which is very challenging. Despite its colorful look, the game does have some tough sections, and bosses that will test your reflexes. I think my only complaint about the game is that the colors and lighting, specifically the sort of flat shading and how shadows work, make depth hard to judge at times, which can lead to lost lives. Great game though and worth your time if you're looking for a light hearted game.

The gameplay in Super Lucky's Tale is ridiculously fun. Alot like mario odyssey but on a smaller scale. Looks great on a TV and in handheld mode. My only complaints are with the difficulty and esthetic. So far its definitely on the easy side. And esthetically is very kiddie. Overall it's still a very fun platformer. Probably a better fit for handheld mode.

This is a game worth picking up. It almost lives up to the Nintendo standard. A little on the easy side, but still fun to explore and collect in the beautiful and colorful landscapes. Kind of light on the amount of content as well.

It's a great game. I've spent about 3 hours playing so far and it's easy to pick up and play. The controls are easy for anyone. It has interesting characters and an interesting story to keep you invested. The graphics are impressive and vibrant. It's reminiscent of Mario 64 and Donkey Kong Country. Each level has multiple objectives beyond the main objective to complete before facing the boss.

This is a great game for kids/adults of all ages. If you’re into light, fund games that do not require your to “shoot ‘me up”, then this is a game for you. The game does have some challenges and levels that will take you several tries to figure out how to beat them, but don’t give up. Overall, the game is really fun and Lucky is a cute little fox.

i bought this game b/c i love old school platforming games like mario 64, banjo, and other N64 platformers. i played this game to completion. it is a nicely designed game and it will be very familiar to gamers who grew up playing N64 platformers. the only thing i didn't like was the 1.9 GB patch. ouch. it looks like to me they released this game then decided to patch after. which is a common practice for many game developers these days. a practice i do not like. they should fix the games BEFORE they release them. not after. besides that i got no other complaints. great game

New Super Luckys' Tale is a fun throwback to games like Banjo and Kazooie. The game has been been ported over from the X-Box One and is now portable on Switch with updated gameplay, controls and more. The game is very charming and contains several different types of gameplay and levels.

I had a version of Lucky's Tale on the Xbox One that I didn't play much, and this seems like a port of that. Controls are easy, so moving around feels natural. Graphics are well done, so it's visually appealing. Animations are smooth. I'm a bit spoiled though from having first experienced it when the Oculus Rift was released, as this was one of my favorite games on it. So the flat 2D experience on any other platform always seems to fall a bit flat, no pun intended. But it's an enjoyable game anyway, and a hit with the younger members of the family as well.
