This is as sharp a lens at this zoom range as is available for Nikon. While it is just a bit heavy the build quality is enough to make up for that. The biggest downfall to this lens is that it does not have a built in filter holder and the front lens cap is very large due to the convex front element. Overall, I am very happy with this lens.

Super sharp lens. Great for compact indoor locations as well as landscape photography. Super fast auto-focus. A bit on the heavy side. Build quality is great.

Super awesome lens and it is sharp. It enable me to catch both sides of a rainbow that could have been lost with a 24mm alone.

The images I have been getting from this lens are incredibly sharp and the slight coma in the corners of my astrophotography shots is very tolerable. It is a little heavy, but built like a tank. This will always be in my camera bag!

I use this lens for real estate photography and it is sharp. yes, there is a bit of distortion, but nothing like my SIGMA 8-16mm, and nothing a quick fix in Lightroom can't do. Overall, this lens is awesome. Just buy it, worth every penny!

This is a high end Nikon lens. Paired with a Lee filter system, this lens is unstoppable! I use it with a D750 and the pictures are tack sharp. It's a must have lens that will deliver quality shots time and time again. It's heavy, keep that in mind.

Part of the Nikon "holy trinity" of 2.8's , this lens is built and works like the professional lens it is. It is very sharp at all focal lengths and has brilliant color. I have had mine for two months and have no complaints. Some people do not like that fact that there is no ability to attach filters. While I can understand I have not found this to be as much of a problem as I shoot primarily at night and these days everything can be done in post. This is great glass form Nikon and stands out as one of their top lenses for great reason.

This lens is considered part of Nikon's "Holy Trinity" which includes the 14-24, the 24-70 and the 70-200. I bought this lens because I really enjoy wide angle shots. As you'll find in other reviews all over the web, this lens has two limitations. The first is that it is not light and the second is that it doesn't allow for use of a standard filter for creative uses or protection. There are some filters that exist now, but they are not standard and also not cheap. Think back to what you love about photography and what types of photos you enjoy. If you're like me and you enjoy ultra wide angle shots then you won't be disappointed with this lens. It is ultra sharp and built like a tank.

I live in Alaska with huge wide open spaces and Northern Lights (aurora). I have used lesser quality lens like the Tokina 16-28 F2.8 on my D800 and was pleased until a friend of mine showed me his Nikkor 14-24 F2.8. What a difference. The build quality is similar but the glass is by far better in the Nikkor. I was frustrated with the Tokina shooting wide open during aurora storms and getting soft edges and "coma- elongation of stars" in the corners. With the Nikkor 14-28, that problem is long gone. The lens is sharp from corner to corner and the dreaded coma is minimal. I can't wait for the aurora season to pick up. This is one of nikons flagship lenses that every aurora chaser should have in there arsenal.
