PROs - Woodfire pellets have a delightful effect on the flavor - Product materials feel like they will stand up to outdoor weather/use - Lots of diverse cooking options CONs - Wish they included a cover in the box - Cleaning the unit is a bit difficult - Illuminated text on the front panel and interior light would be handy TIPS - If you will be cooking pizza I recommend getting the pizza peel to make adding and removing the pizza easier - When cooking dishes that take longer than an hour you can remove the used pellet ashes and add fresh ones which you can reignite by holding the woodfire button to continue adding smoky flavor to your dishes - Get a wired meat thermometer so that you can monitor the temperature without opening the door and letting out the smoke While summer is coming to an end, there is still plenty of outdoor opportunities to cook and entertain. Often when I have people over and we are spending time outside I find myself walking back and forth between the kitchen and outdoor patio where I have my grill and now the Ninja Outdoor Oven. This has added a new degree of versatility to my outdoor setup allowing me to keep an eye on both things I grilling as well as cooking, smoking, or baking in the oven. The oven is built for outdoors with a built in GFCI plug while the unit itself is well built with a lot of metal components and stainless steel which should help it last. I especially like the terracotta color which looks great outside with the rest of my earth toned aesthetic. I would still consider a cover depending on the location as you still want to avoid it getting rained on. The buttons and functions on the front panel are easy to read and I found the selections and options easy to navigate. Since this unit is used outdoors and it could get dark – illuminating the text options on the front panel in addition to the screen could be a nice touch in the future. Additionally, an interior light would make checking on the food easier, but that also maybe more difficult to include considering the temperatures that this machine cooks at. I cooked standard frozen pizzas both with and without the woodfire pellets that are included, and I thought that the one with the woodfire added a delightful smokey flavor. Thanks to the pizza stone they had a nice crisp crust on the bottom. Additionally, I cooked some of the recommended items from the included recipe book – both the roasted chicken utilizing the Specialty Roast and chicken breast followed by broccoli on the Max Roast. The Specialty Roast feature is especially cool since it allows you to program two different stages for different temperatures and times. This allows you start on a higher heat to get a nice crispy outside with some char initially followed by the normal cooking time. The chicken had a great crust and was juicy on the inside. With the Max Roast the chicken breasts and broccoli both developed a nice char that added a ton of flavor and character to the meal. Besides these meals there are several other features/modes that I am excited to try. The dehydrating mode can be used to make things like jerky and dried fruit, while you can even cook things like bread and fruit crumbles utilizing the bake mode. Overall, I found this unit a very versatile complement to my outdoor kitchen setup. Cooking some of these dishes can be a little messy and I did find the unit a little difficult to clean. Wait for it to cool and use a bristle brush with a longer handle that way you can reach the back of the unit along with warm soap and water. With the heating element there are some areas that are hard to reach – depending on what you are cooking I may consider adding some aluminum wrapping if you don’t plan on using the smoking feature to prevent some splatter.

This Ninja Woodfire Outdoor Oven does it all. A simple turn of the dial will let you switch from roasting, broiling, baking, warming, dehydrating, smoking, and of course, making pizza. Any of these options can have woodfire flavor added to them by adding the Woodfire pellets (actual hardwood). These are for flavoring, not fueling, since everything is electric. You can get this oven up to 700 degrees in about 25 minutes. The dials and buttons on the dash are very easy to use and understand. The oven itself is on the smaller side, so depending on how many you are cooking for, it may take a couple of runs to prepare for over 3-4 people. Most dishes included in the enclosed recipe book can all be completed in one run, though. Making a pizza is fun. The whole key to good pizza with this oven is the dough. It takes a little practice to get the shape and thickness right, but the cooking itself is a breeze. The options you can do for the different styles of pizza are all provided in the recipe book. I highly recommend getting the Ninja Pizza Peel before attempting to make a pizza. Also, consider going ahead and getting the oven cover as well, since it will be kept outside. There are a few other accessories available that you may find you want depending on what you are using it for, but I think those two accessories are basically necessary.

If you've been thinking about adding a pizza oven to your arsenal, I don't think it gets much easier than this. Crank it to 700, throw it in for a few minutes and be amazed at how evenly cooked it comes out. If you have ever tried one that uses propane you know that it can be a bit challenging to manage the heat and finding the right time to rotate. This really was as easy as putting the pizza in, closing the door and hitting start. Though I got this mainly for pizza, it has plenty of other uses including the ability to cook with different wood pellets to add that bit of smokey flavor. You are able to do longer smokes, but that will require filling the small pellet hopper every 30 minutes or so. Personally I will be using this for shorter cooks and keep my smoker for the longer jobs. This is also a great tool for entertaining. Wether you need a second oven or a place to keep things warm, the ability to dial in a temp from 105-700 makes it extremely versatile and easy to use. Though it feels well built, it's not so cumbersome that I can't easily store it away between uses. Overall this is a great addition to our outdoor kitchen and we love the results we are seeing. If you want a foolproof way to make pizzas at home, look no further.

    Made My First Pizza!

I’ve never had a pizza oven before or even put much thought into how one of my favorite foods are made. I love wood fired pizzas and we don’t have too many places around here that makes good ones so I was super eager to give this a try. I already do plenty of outdoor cooking, I have a smoker and a gas grill so I was really only interested in the pizza part of the Woodfire Oven. Setting up the oven for pizza making is straightforward. But first, read the instructions! There are certain things that are not dishwasher safe and in the case of the pizza stone you do not want to clean it with anything other than a soft cloth! Once you’re familiar with the instructions you can place it outdoors (it’s not to be used indoors) and insert the accessory frame and pizza stone. There are a lot of accessories you may not realize you need when making pizza. For example, I didn’t have a pizza peel, so I ordered the Ninja one. You’ll also need a pizza cutter, and if you’re mixing your dough in a stand mixer, you’ll need a dough hook. The oven also does not come with a stand, so unless you already have an outdoor countertop to place it on, be prepared to buy that too. If you are smoking meats you’ll want some type of Bluetooth temperature probe as there are no holes in the oven to pass a wired probe. Cooking a pizza in the oven is about as simple as it can get. You turn the dial to Pizza, then select the type of pizza you are wanting to make. It’ll take about 10 minutes or so to preheat, then you simply add the pizza and wait for the timer to finish, remove it, and let it cool about 5 minutes. That’s it. The “Woodfire” part comes from the optional pellets that you can add to give it a flavor. The pellets do not contribute to the cooking process, they only are there to provide a smokey flavor. My first pizza came out way better than I expected! However, making the dough took several attempts. Since I had never made my own pizza before I used the recipe book that was included. What I came to realize after two attempts where the dough came out like glue was that the recipes in the book are not good. At least for pizza. I ended up finding a Youtube video online and realized the Ninja recipe was calling for about twice as much water as needed and had some of the steps backwards. Once I had the dough part figured out it was easy to make the pizzas, although it’s not a big oven. The largest pizza you can make is 12” which is only enough for maybe 2 people at most. The pizzas do cook fast, however, providing some benefit if you need to feed a family. I am also now using the oven as a roaster for my briskets that I cook on my full-size smoker. It works well for this as it’s able to maintain a low temperature of around 140 degrees to keep them rested until dinnertime. Pros: 8-in-1 Combo Cooker Makes Great Pizzas High Temp Cooking – 700 F Can be used as a roaster or smoker Optional Wood pellets for flavor Includes sample pellets Cons: Only Used Outdoors On the Small Side Might need to purchase accessories Overall – the Ninja Woodfire Oven works well for making pizza. I think it’s best for those who want to cook a variety of items outdoors but may not have the space for multiple appliances. The recipes need some improvement.

Versatile Outdoor Cooking At Its Best

Ninja Woodfire 8-in-1 Outdoor Oven This is my first electric outdoor pizza/oven that is also a smoker. Ninja created this oven to compete with the outdoor pizza oven market. This electric outdoor oven is a lot more versatile because of its smoking feature. It has a little wood pellet smoke box attached to its side. The Ninja Woodfire Oven weighs 32.4 lbs. The box has a quick start guide, a pellet scoop, and a pizza stone. The pizza stone is 12 3/4 by 12 1/4 personal-size pizza. The oven is terracotta colored, a throwback to colors used in the 60's or 70's. The oven also has a roasting rack, a pro-heat pan, and an accessory frame. The accessory frame is used to hold the pro-heat pan, the roasting rack, and the pizza stone. The smoke box is small. It is not used as a fuel source. It is used to just add smoke flavor to your food. The menu system on the control panel is simple. It has eight functions: warm, dehydrate, smoker, bake, broil, specialty roast, max roast, and pizza. The pizza function has six presets: Neopolitan, thin, New York, pan, frozen, and custom. It also has a woodfire option. This option introduces a smoked flavor to your food. The specialty roast function lets you set stage one temperature for high heat to put a sear, then dial it down for a longer cook. It is like searing your stakes on a traditional outdoor grill and then turning the flame down to slow the cooking of the food. The oven's opening is small for a typical pizza oven. It is about 13 and a quarter inches wide by seven inches tall. The accessory frame takes up the bottom one and a half inches. I first tested the accuracy of the oven's internal temperature with the pizza stone inside. It took about 26 minutes for the oven to reach 700 degrees. I then tested the smoker by filling the small box with woodfire pellets. After a few minutes, you start to see the smoke. The smoke stays consistent for about 40 minutes. And now, for the real reason, I acquired this oven. My family loves pizza, and this Nija Woodfire 8-in-1 does not disappoint. There's simply nothing more appetizing than a flavor-packed, juicy, and succulent pizza on a nice, warm day. As discussed earlier. The oven has different types of pizza settings you can choose from: Neapolitan Style: A chewy, puffy crust that's spotted with crispy bubbles Thin crust: Thin, stretched pizza with a crispy crust New York: Large, hand-tossed pizza with light browning and a foldable, chewy crust Pan pizza: Baked in a deep dish or pan with a thick, chewy crust Frozen: Your favorite package pie can become a gooey masterpiece in minutes I used the Ninja Woodfire Oven to make two of those types of pizzas. I followed the preset settings for both the New York-style pizza (475 degrees) and the Frozen pizza (400 degrees). The New York pizza is baked to light, foldable, and with gooey cheese within eight minutes. I used the wood pellets during the baking process. I was able to smell the wood pellets burning and taste the woodfire smoke on the pizza. The Frozen pizza finished cooking at a warp speed of 3 minutes. It was fluffy and delicious. With the Ninja Woodfire 8-in-1 Outdoor Oven, you'll appreciate its ability to make other foods using the previously described menu settings. After baking the two different styles of pizza, I prepared a 10 lbs pork shoulder. I placed it in the oven using the pro heat pan on top of the accessory frame. I followed the cooking guide by cooking the pork shoulder for 8 hours at a temperature of 250 degrees to reach an internal temperature of 203 degrees. I used the smoking option and kept loading the pellets every 40 minutes. The Ninja Cooking guide was off by at least two and a half hours. The pork shoulder reached its preferred internal temperature of 203 degrees after ten and a half hours of cooking. Once done, the bone was pulled out of the pork fairly clean and pulled apart effortlessly. The smoked flavor in the meat was very light. If you like smoke-flavored meat, I recommend using a dedicated smoker. Now, the most unpopular part of using any outdoor cooking appliance is cleaning it. The smoker took a little bit of elbow grease to clean it. The smoke literally hardened on the inside surface like paint. I used nylon brushers and scrubbers to clean the inside of the unit. The rack and pan had to soak overnight in soapy water to get properly cleaned. I will wrap the meat next I cook to minimize the time scrubbing the oven. The Ninja has some accessories you can purchase separately. It has a pizza peel for $30, an oven cover for $24, and an adjustable stand for $200. Some of my minor dislikes about this electric oven are: No window to check on the food A little heavy (32.4 lbs) to keep moving around for storage Watch for very hot oven doors while moving food around Overall, this is a very good compact unit that cooks many different foods with simplicity. Just like a barbecue grill, this oven adds fun to outdoor family gatherings—especially pizza parties. If you live in areas that do not allow charcoal or propane cooking, this Ninja Woodier 8-in-1 would be perfect. I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys outdoor cooking.

Review for Ninja - Woodfire 8-in-1 Outdoor Oven, 700°F High Heat Roaster, Pizza Oven, BBQ Smoker with Woodfire Technology - Terracotta Red This oven has completely replaced my gas grill. No more propane refills and so much versatility. Steaks last night were the best ever; I even tried some of the sample pack of wood pellets in the smoker section to add a woodsy vibe to the meat. Everyone raved about it. It might not get as much attention, but I like the low temperature control as much as the high. I made sun-dried tomatoes using the “dehydrator” setting. They came out perfect. I plan to pack some away in oil for a taste of summer this coming winter. I was pleasantly surprised how much food I could prepare at once. It’s easy to make dinner for 4-6 people using the included pan or grill. The documentation even says you can roast up to a 12 pound turkey! This could be a great way to max out Thanksgiving plans when my indoor oven is in use. Having this oven outside has been great during a week of unseasonably warm summer temps this year in early September. Not adding heat to the house and still being able to prepare something other than salad was a surprise benefit for early fall cooking. It gave me a chance to learn how to use it more fully. There are a number of wonderful-looking accessories available for the oven. I think the cover is going to be my next go to, but the table, specially designed for the oven, and cast iron pan look great too.
