    Cloud based picture frame? Why?

There is a lot to like about the frame but there are a few major issues I have with it and it's a deal breaker for me. Setup was pretty easy once I downloaded the app. It walks you through setting up an account and allowing you to load pictures from your smartphone to the cloud. Once an account is created the app will guide you through creating a photo playlist by selecting photos from your phone. You can share your playlist with others so they can look at them online but you can do that with other cloud platforms. With a free account you get 10GB of cloud storage for your photos and not many perks. The basic account you only get up to 15 seconds of video and only 5 shared playlists. Warranty is only 1 year with customer support Monday through Friday. You can sign up for the optional nixplay plus account for $50 per year (or $5/month) which gets you 50GB of cloud storage, up to 1 minute duration on videos, Print Shop discount, lifetime warranty on frames, in-app photo editing and 24/7 support. The things to like... *The stand attaches magnetically to the frame in either a portrait or landscape position. *The HD picture quality is awesome. *Convenience of creating playlists and uploading pictures Smartphone setup and picture loading. *You can also log into your account on a computer and create playlists and load pictures. *Supports Google Photos *It has a touch screen to allow for some setting adjustments like display type and transitions *It does have sound Things that are a deal breaker for me: *You have to have a Nixplay cloud account. *You must connect to the cloud to load pictures. *Even though it supports Google Photos you are still limited to 5 playlists and 10GB *Since it's cloud based service there is no removable memory, no card slot, no USB drive port. *I really can't stand that you are limited to 10GB of cloud memory so I can see that you would have to purge and upload continuously. This tries to be too much... cloud based with limited storage unless you pay a fee and a desktop picture frame. For the price there are other solutions that would allow you to load pictures with a SD card or USB drive.

Nicely made frame, Doesn't need a paywall

Digital photo frames seem to come in a VERY wide variety of construction, loading methods, and quality. We've all given our mom's a cheap one for christmas only to regret it later. The nixplay is nicely featured and is paired with a worthwhile cloud service that takes the guesswork out of loading photos onto it from the cloud, as well as options for landscape OR portrait modes. Coupled with a very nice screen and a decent built in stand, and this stacks up to be a christmas gift for mom that she's not asking you to come over and fix. Some of the features that have always plagued digital photo frames have been anticipated and fixed here - schedules for on and off times, motion detection so that it's not on displaying photos for an empty room, and the ability to overlay time and date info to turn this into a budget wall display, are all things that elevate this photo frame above others. One thing that makes me immediately start to knock off the stars? Charging me for things in the app or the cloud that are behind a paywall after the purchase of a decently priced, but still a chunk of change, device. Most if not all of the advanced and editing features of the cloud service to load the frame is locked behind the Nixplay+ subscription. Yes Nixplay+ does give you up to 50g of cloud storage and the ability to manage a number of these frames, which could come in handy if that is somehow the niche you fall into. Otherwise it just looks greedy. I'd rather they allow their free service to connect with one of the cloud storage providers I already have subscribed to and not try to gouge me some more after this is up and running. There is bit of user un-friendliness to the UI, but after you figure it out it's okay to navigate. Overall it's decently made, stays connected and trouble free... you just have to stomach that subscription service to fully take advantage of what you just bought for mom.

The Nixplay smart photo frame is a beautiful way to share those family memories. It displays our photos at a great resolution and is very easy to setup. It has a modern black bezel with smooth finish and a magnetic stand that can be placed on the frame to display in either landscape or portrait mode. The frame auto rotates when placed in either of these display modes which is a nice feature. To get started you simply plug in the frame with included power adapter, enter the initial setup parameters on the frame using the touchscreen, and then setup your account on either the website or by downloading the Nixplay app. Now this is where I get a little down on this frame. The website and app work well, but it seems a little limited as how you ad photos. You either add the photos by simply dragging and dropping the photos to the assigned frame and then it starts displaying the photos. If you have a Google photos account you can also add photos directly from here, but you cannot select the photos directly and drag them to other albums already setup on the frame. You have to keep them as Google photo memories or make albums on your Google photo account and then add the entire album. I did not like this at all and could not find a setting to enable adding photos directly from my Google photo account. The frame has plenty of memory for all your photos, and apparently there is a monthly subscription that can be purchased for additional storage and possibly more settings that would enable further editing of the photos added. The included settings are just fine and I enjoy the transitions of the photos and the screen fill with the color match setting. It really allows sharing of hundreds of photos and memories. The screen is very bright and cam be viewed from many angles. If you get more than one frame they can be linked and add to the sharing. Lastly, the frame is setup with an email account where you can have family members add photos to the frame given you send them the link to email photos. Overall a nice digital photo frame to share priceless memories with high resolution.

    Stylish Digital Picture Frame

I always wanted a digital photo frame that could display many of my favorite pictures. I had seen them many places and though that they were a cool item to have. So, when I have the chance to finally get one, I was excited to have it. The Nixplay Smart Photo Frame is what I expected,a really nice frame to display my favorite photos. Set up is not the easiest thing in the world, but most should have little problem with it. When you remove it from the box, you need to plug it up and attach the stand. You have the option to either have a portrait or landscape orientation. Then you just attach the magnetic stand for it to stand up. It is not the most secure attachment in the world. You can knock it off the stand with not much effort. However, it works well enough to get by. Once that is all complete, you can take your smartphone and download the app to use it. There is a little bit of pairing, and you will have to select which photos to allow access to. But this process goes fairly quickly, and then you are ready to go. You then simply choose which pictures you want to display. Once that is done, that app will download your images or video and begin displaying them. You can also go in and set up other features to meet your preferences. You can set a sleep schedule, so the frame is only on during times you want. You can also choose to have it on when it senses activity. You can also set the interval that each picture is displayed. The picture quality is good. It is bright enough that you can have it in a well-lit room, and you can still see the pictures with no problem. You can also display pictures or video which is a nice feature. Still there are some little minor issues that I wished weren’t there. First, there is no battery power for the frame. If you want to place this over a fireplace on the mantle, it will probably show the cord. I find this really works best on an end table by the wall or on a nightstand, anywhere where the cord can be hidden. Also, I don’t like that there is no good way to turn off the frame by touching the frame. I always had to use my phone and go through my app if I wanted to power it off. One more thing, you won’t be able to post everything you want. I had about 65 photos before I started getting memory messages. Lastly, you must use a smartphone to use this frame. It will work with Android or iOS, but you still need a phone. There is no USB connection to the frame to download images. In the end, I really like the picture frame. It allows me to display my memories clearly and looks stylish while doing it. I do have to play around with it, but it is worth it. If you have seen the digital picture frames and always wanted one, I would recommend the Nixplay 8-inch frame. I think you will like it.

I have owned a Nixplay in the past and it was quite cumbersome and sort of immature technology when it came to instantly transferring photos from your phone to the frame. However it appears Nixplay worked out these kinks and now these frames are easier to work with and to use and have an easier interface to download iPhone photos to an album and easily transfer photos direct to the frame which is what other digital frame products are now using. The issue I see with this particular frame is, it is quite a small size and harder to see the pictures on this size, I would of opted to go larger. Granted, the pictures come out clear and are great images and show up cropped and enhanced, however, this size it just didnt do the pictures justice. Also, Nixplay technology in the app itself is ok, easy to use and would be easy for the non tech user to use, however, it still did not look like a solid looking app, I would of added more capabilities to this app. Another issue with these frames are the cost which is over the top for a digital frame and quite expensive. In all I would recommend the product, however I may opt for a more capable digital frame like Amazon Echo or Google etc.

The Nixplay Smart Photo Frame 8-inch Touch Screen is a brilliant modern blend of technology and the past. Photography has evolved within the past 15 years with the emergence of cellphone with cameras. Prior to this, roll film cameras were king. With developing film, would be printed photos and these would go into a picture frame or photo album to be enjoyed. As we have transitioned to photos on cell phones, picture frames have become less utilized as one can quickly display a photo on their phone, tablet, or even TV. The Nixplay Smart Photo Frame embraces the idea of a stationary, display picture frame with technology. Photos may be taken from a cellphone and quickly uploaded to the Nixplay. There can be up to 100-photo playlist loaded to the Nixplay. This not only provides high quality display of photographs, but cycles through. This is the evolution of photo frames. Nixplay does this well with easy setup. There is a touch screen, allowing for the frame to be plugged in and easily setup to WiFi. A mobile device with the application may be used if on the same WiFi, or a serial number may be entered without shared WiFi to a phone or computer linked to the Nixplay account. Within 5 minutes out of box, the frame can be displayed and set up with photos ready. The most difficult part of the frame is deciding which photos to use. But, instead of printing a photo and committing one can quickly change the selected photo in the app. The display itself is crisp and clear. There are options to use motion detection to turn the display on/off, along with a time window that may be set to auto turn off the display. This is important if used in a bedroom for instance, to allow for a dark room while trying to sleep. Overall, the Nixplay is a simple idea, well executed to permit display of images. This would be a perfect idea for a gift of a loved one where you may share family photos with them or a blast from their past with some utilization of technology. All-in-all, very impressed with this frame.
