I've had an Amazon Fire TV Box since they came out. I liked the box much better than the Fire Stick, but after a few years it was getting very sluggish and needed restarting almost daily. I was also on my third remote and figured it was time for an upgrade. I couldn't be happier with the Shield Android TV. This thing is fast, customizable, and works great! A lot of people complain about the design, but for me, it is in the cabinet tucked away. Makes no difference to me. I also love the light up remote. Great feature in the dark.

The Shield is sort of like an overpriced Roku stick or a discount game console, and I think it does a good job of splitting the difference between those two categories. It's an Android TV, which I think is one of the better smart TV UIs available, especially if you're already in the Google ecosystem. It has Google Assistant for smart home control and has a built-in Chromecast so any app or content that isn't available you can cast from your phone. You shouldn't have to worry about that too often though, because pretty much every streaming app you can think of is on here. What makes the Shield different from other streaming sticks is its emphasis on gaming. Games are available directly on the device and through GeForce NOW. With GeForce NOW, games you already own on PC, such as in Steam, can be sent to your Shield or another device. There are also games that are free for Shield owners, such as Bioshock and Tomb Raider, which I have been playing. The games stream great. I'm using an Ethernet connection and have seen no stutter or lag playing Bioshock or Tomb Raider with the Shield controller or with Civilization V from my Steam library using a Bluetooth mouse. If I could, I would give this 4.5 stars. It loses a perfect rating because to really take advantage of its gaming capabilities, you need the game controller and without it, the Shield by itself is fairly expensive. Also while the shape of it looks great, there's no way to stand or set it, especially when you are using Ethernet, as there are cables coming out of both ends of it. I wish all the cables were on one side.

This is a nice tiny unit that doesn't take up much of a footprint for those who care for that sort of thing. This device packs a punch with solid AI upscaling and a solid remote that is great addition (has its own lost remote finder which works great). If you want to use a PLEX server please see the more expensive option as this unit has 1 less gb of ram and won't be sufficient. Also the only thing that really hurts this version is that it doesn't have usb ports which is fine if you are using this device just to stream content you will love this unit. .

This NVidia Shield is excellent. It's easy to operate and the picture is perfect. It's small and doesn't take a lot of space.

My fire TV from 2015 has started to lag so I was in the market for a new streaming device, luckily this was released at that very moment. After I set it up, I knew I'd never go back. It's fast, easy to use and nice to look at. You can set it up to turn on/off your TV and soundbar, and control the volume too. The video upscaling is actually noticeable. Must buy.

I bought this to replace my aging smart tv functions as the TV remote was starting to not work. Using ARC, this can turn on and off my TV on top of adding more functionality than was available before. On top of that, I can stream games in 4K from my gaming PC in another room with little discernible lag. You definately want to have it connected via ethernet to make sure everything is smooth though. Also, I wish there was at least a single USB port so I could plug in a keyboard/mouse but it's not terrible.

I bought this to run some apps for streaming tv content. The setup was extremely easy. I do use a micro sd card to load side content but it is by far the best android streaming device i have owned so far. It doesn't lag and i am using ethernet cable for internet. The remote is very nice in hand, and the overall navigation is easy. I haven't tried the gaming streaming as that wasn't the reason for my purchase. Plus i know from my gaming pc that Nvidia is the king of graphics technology.

It's doing nearly everything the Shield TV Pro can do. The one thing this doesn't do as well as the Pro is play most Android games. It still does allow you to stream games from your pc or gamestream as well as the Pro version does, it's just not as good with android based games, due to the 1GB less ram. Also it's only got half the storage as the Pro. All that said, if you are just streaming video and want the best experience doing it then this is for you.

This is just a great streaming device. I'm not a gamer but I do have streaming devices from several other manufacturers. This thing is fast - no lag time between pushing the button to results on the screen. Excellent quality picture. Just love the remote with backlight. While it's not inexpensive if you want one of the best experiences buy one and enjoy.

I love everything about this. The remote, the ease with which the Shield itself tucks away, the gaming options, the updates (just got the Apple TV+ app, w Stadia coming end of the month), functionality, interface, TV controls. I haven't tried the android app yet, so can't put that in the pro or con column, but it apparently will help you find a lost remote. I would choose this above any smart stick on the market

I upgraded to this from a fire tv. After doing much research(and catching it on sale at Best Buy) I am really enjoying the Nvidia Shield. I added a micro usb to increase memory and it’s working great. I use it exclusively for streaming and have it set up with a full build plus two apps for movie and tv show viewing. It loads really fast and I am able to watch movies in 4K(I have a real debrid account). There are easy setup videos on YouTube. Highly recommend.

I had to go and find a way to get hbo max on my LG OLED and this ended up being my go to after trying my Xbox One X. The remote on this thing is super nice and intuitive, the shape of the shield itself is a little strange but it does seem to be bottom heavy which helps it not roll around the tv console. This is a great experience overall and it's a great product. The AI upscaling is also an awesome feature!

way better than the android tv on a sony tv, much more responsive. puchased this because for some reason tvs sold in 2020 still dont come with 1G ethernet ports; so you can not stream raw 4k. this solved the problem as well as being a universial remote controling tv and sonos speakers without any hassle. only downside is AI upscalling which I couldnt tell a difference when playing older movies at 720 or 1080.

Fast, responsive interface and great feature set. Being able to connect bluetooth headphones and watch something at anytime without disturbing anyone is fantastic. Was able to configure the remote to control my stereo receiver so now I just have this one remote for everything. The AI upscaling is a nice touch, even works really well on anime. Can't recommend it enough.

Love this tv Android box. I have nvidia shield pro in my living room and bedroom. Just purchased a new one for our guest room. The new version comes with improved remote. I also like the new form factor of the nvidia tv. The only thing that i wish they includes is a usb plug-in on the new nvidia shied tv.

easy to hide behind the TV the newly designed remote is a nice change from the older one works great I recommend a 64 or 128gb micro sd card (class 10) if its not a class 10 it might not work with the shield This will give you ALOT more room for extras and goodies There are no USB ports so as long as your dont want to conned usb devices to it your fine

This thing is way faster than a Fire TV box (and even more faster than the stick). The remote has a cool feature where it lights up when you pick it up, very nice touch. It feels as fast as an Apple TV, but without the garbage touch remote. Highly recommend
