Richly nuanced this sweet visually beautiful story of nostalgia and quiet romance charmed me. Has Daisy Ridley on the English Audio and includes the original Japanese as well. Ghibli collectors will love this, especially fans of From Up on Poppy Hill and Whisper of the Heart.

This film had not been on home video in the US prior to this Blu-ray release. Thanks to GKIDS for distributing this beautiful film from the Studio Ghibli library. Disney has been releasing many Studio Ghibli films, but some films, like this one and Grave of the Fireflies and others are being released by other studios. The transfer is beautiful, and it shows off the amazing animation very well. You may not realize how old this film is while watching it on Blu-ray. Disney does a great job remastering films they release to Blu-ray, and if you have had concerns over the quality of this release from GKIDS, rest assured. It is fantastic. Colors pop. The lines are sharp. It's great. Some may find the story a bit slow, but I only thought it dragged near the midway point, which is typical for a lot of Ghibli films, to be honest. However, I found this one dragged less than many. The film is funny and touching. I don't get emotional during films, generally, but by the end of this one, I was swelling up tears. I bought this film having never seen it before, which is always a risk, but I am glad I did. I loved it and I will watch it over and over.

This was a good movie I'm glad it came to north america only yesterday is about Taeko, a 27-year-old office worker who is sick of her job and ready for a change. As she ventures to the rural Yamagata prefecture to visit her sister and brother-in-law, her mind wanders back to moments from her childhood and adolescence. While reflecting on her coming-of-age experiences, Taeko bonds with her brother-in-law's cousin, a hard-working farmer, and attempts to learn who she truly is.

Only yesterday is one of many excellent Studio Ghibli films. The animation is beautiful, as always, and the story is affecting. This is a more grounded, adult oriented outing, but every bit as good as anything else they have released. It's a touching story of nostalgia and growing up. The Blu-ray is top quality as well, but be aware that the English dub is a lossy track, whereas the Japanese audio is lossless. The extras are concise, but interesting. I highly recommend it!

Now that Disney's catalog of Studio Ghibli movie classics are available on Blu-Ray in North America, there are still a few movies remaining to fill out the roster. How cool, that Only Yesterday, a Ghibli movie from the 90s, receives an all-new English dub and is finally released in NA as well. Maybe we will see Ocean Waves released next?

Director Isao Takahata has made a beautiful homage the great master director Yasujiro Ozo. A sweet slow story of a young single woman who reflects on whether her younger self would like what she has become as an adult. The English language dub is not as powerful at the more subtle Japanese dub with English subtitles, watch the original version first then the 'Americanized' version...to see for yourself.

The story, although simple, focuses on the transition in one's world view from childhood to adulthood in an emotionally engaging and satisfying way. Director Takahata tells another story about the will and character of the human spirit, similar to what he did in Grave of the Fireflies. Also, anyone who is a fan of the beautiful animation of Studio Ghibli should check out this film.

I haven't gotten the chance to watch the film yet, but the package itself came on time and without any damage. So, i am happy about that. Best Buy is one of the only retails I get blu rays from that is brick and mortar, and I appreciate that they have a fair number of titles in stock, especially for anime

This is a good computer for what I use it for. I don't play games, prepare business documents, or anything above basic stuff and it fits the bill perfect. My only complaint is it occasionally drops wi-fi connection, which is more of a slight inconvenience.

Another wonderful film from the minds behind Japan's Studio Ghibli. So happy to finally see this movie released on bluray in the US. Picture quality is outstanding, amazing story, lovely characters and beautiful art make this a must for any fan of slice of life style stories. A most excellent addition to my collection!

My GF and I love the Studio Ghibl films and we enjoyed Only Yesterday. Its not as whimsical as the other films but still a solid addition to our Collection! We do wish that digital copies were included (no Studio Ghibli films seem to have this) but are still very happy!

I bought this for a friend after I fell in love with the movie. The DVD comes with both the original Japanese language track with English subtitles plus a brand new English dub starring Daisy Ridley (Star Wars: The Force Awakens) and Dev Patel (Slumdog Millionaire). Overall a must for any studio Ghibli fan.

A must have for any studio Ghibli fan. A old classic remastered and now even Blu-ray. Super happy to add this to my collection. It might not be to everyones taste but definitely a film worth watching and if you're a fan it's definitely worth buying!! I am definitely a happy customer.

This is a really great freezer. It fits in our apartment and doesn't have to be outside in the garage so it's very easily accessible for me. The movable basket and built in shelf come in really handy for the things I want to reach easily but there's still plenty of room for everything else.

It has some neat animation but the movie is weakened by a really distracting casting choice for the lead male role on the english dub.

I bought this for my niece. She said the video is so nice and good to watch. She love to watch anime and read manga stories. Definitely she likely to recommend.

I was watching this movie with my two daughters and we pretty enjoyed it. In some scenes about some boys' stupidity towards period we all laughed. This is a good movie , some little boys audiences might get bored.

This is a very interesting movie. I love the way it goes from the main characters younger and older self, and how she evolved. As with all the Studio Ghibli movies, the scenery is beautiful

This film holds up to Ghibli standards in terms of the quality and the artwork. This film is a little bit more mature themed in contrast to their more child-aimed movies, but the story line is good.
