A Necessary Hardware

As a long time standard service Ooma customer, I finally decided to upgrade tp Ooma “Premier”. As a Premier customer, you are allowed a second phone number (more than one actually). In order for the second line to function, and to take full advantage of the Premier service, an Ooma dedicated handset is required - thus this purchase. Omitting any sort of review of of the Ooma system and reviewing only the HD3 Handset: The handset has a higher than typical (cordless phone) display. It is actually quite good. The software/menu is quite advanced and easy to navigate. The handset’s physical design is very good - easy to hold and use. The voice quality is terrific through the earpiece. Callers and callees also report great voice quality. I am overall pleased with the handset. However, there are some issues I hope Ooma resolves with the next gen handset; The speaker phone voice quality is adequate to subpar when the speakerphone volume is at the highest setting. It is OK at best when the volume is turned down a notch. The NiCad batteries that come with the handset seem quite “cheap”. For the first few days the battery level stayed at 50% most of the time. I read other reviews and saw the same complaints. After a software update did not resolve this issue, nor did re-booting the handset, I replaced the original batteries with compatible Sanyo batteries and this solved the problem (for me). On a personal note, I am disappointed that the handset does not incorporate a wired headset jack, nor a Bluetooth capability. The only Ooma headset option is to purchase an Ooma Bluetooth adapter that installs to the Ooma Telo base. I tried that route - not worth in my opinion, but that’s another review...... Overall, I recommend the HD3 because it does work well, even with some shortcomings, and it is a necessary add-on to fully take advantage of the Premier service.

Decided it was time to replace an old Panasonic handset and as I’ve been using ooma for several years I thought I would buy their handsets.
I’ll say up front that I like them.
I wish they were better.
I like that they integrate well with the base. However the Panasonic has “talking callerid” and I miss this feature a ton. I’ve also had handsets disconnect from the base and I didn’t notice till one day I observed a particular handset didn’t ring when the others did. It was a challenge to reconnect them but I did get it to happen (ultimately had to disconnect and reconnect the battery).

Didn't expect to be writing a review for a cordless home phone, but this thing is pretty darn cool. Has a big, colorful display and syncs all of your cell phone contacts easily. It's sturdy, the battery lasts seemingly forever, customizable ring tones, and the speaker phone is very loud and clear on both ends. If you have Ooma, get this. If you don't have Ooma, purchase that first and then get this. You can't go wrong.

Very happy with the sound quality of the handset and the ability to access Ooma Premium Services. However, handset does not announce who is calling. It also does not give any audible warning the batteries are about to die if you fail to notice the battery level when picking up the handset. Recently was cutoff in middle of call due to low battery level. But sound quality is great and overall happy with purchase.

This handset was easy to activate and set up with the base unit. It has many features and its easy to use. It one took us a few minutes to review its features and how the work. The handset looks sharp and is very impressive. The sound quality is also excellent.

I bought this to go with my Ooma Telo. I like that it has a virtual button on the screen for checking voice mail. Just push the real button just below it and it dials voice mail. No need to dive into menus.
The sound quality is very good.

Purchased two to add on to the basic system I already had. Initially, both were easy to set up and took only a few minutes to become usable. Then the problem started. Both phones went through a cycle of updating their operating systems, but only one of them successfully completed the update. The other got stuck and began the process over... repeatedly over the course of a week. We were patient with it, and one cycle seemed like it could finish after 5 days of slow, incremental status updates, but then it went right back to the beginning of the update process. Returned it to the store and am currently waiting on its replacement.

I work from home and was upgrading from a cheap, no frills phone that didn’t have speakerphone capability and didn’t have an indicator that mute was on. This phone has been perfect for the time I’ve had it. Every caller has heard me loud and clear. And I can mute to my heart’s desire.

This phone works well and allows me to use it in the other part of the apartment away from the main phone. It has some very good features including calllogs, phonebook of numbers you call most, intercom, voicemail, etc. I would recommend it to those who have an Ooma system and want an additional phone for their residence.

This is really the best hands-free phone I have ever had. Starting for the moment I turned it on.
Push one button and it immediately attaches to the Ooma base. Great feel in the hand easy to use, can't even think of anything they could have done to improve it.

We were on the verge of completely ridding our home of a "Land" line, however, we found Ooma, did some research and took a chance. This device paired with the Ooma base is amazing. Call clarity is great, battery life is awesome, and we have an extra phone number we can give to spammers and people we really don't want to talk to. I would highly recommend this to anyone that wants the piece of mind of a secondary phone number. It's easy to setup, just follow the directions (especially for 911 registration).
This was a great purchase.

I've had Ooma for several years and my handset finally tanked. Looked at Best Buy to replace and found one. It's redesigned, slimmer, easier placement in charging base and has a few more options. It's a good price and will continue using Ooma.
