VERY EASY TO SET UP!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.REALLY! I just today, June 13th 2020, finally installed this product. It works. I'm still learning all of the basic functions. Sound quality is very good. $4.90 prepaid per month in taxes and fees. What a deal. I'm going to save a bunch of money when I port my home phone number and cancel my current home service. WHAT A DEAL!

Great product…but
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Love the product, ease of use and setup, and web features….but. After a two minute setup from the time you open the box the next step is where I had the problem. You must call OOMA and setup the new account number and activate the unit when a local area code can not be found online. When making the first call I could not understand the spoken words of the representative. On my third call I was somewhat able to understand her. When requesting an area code I was informed that the only one would be located some 5 hours away on the other side of the state. They stated that numbers might become available in a month or two and they would place a work order to requesting it. 30+ days later still no answer to the issue. Looks like I am stuck with the strange # from the other side of the state. People constantly ask me for my local number instead of my Ooma ASSigned one. Since the number MIGHT change, I am hesitant to give this one out. Other then this issue I would have given 5 stars.

Definitely the best VOIP service
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This service is one of the easiest electronic installations that I have ever done in our home. The registration process was simple and they had numerous local phone numbers for me to choose from. There are even more if you do not care if you have a local number because you could choose any area in the country for your phone number. You are given a 3 months of premiere service for free to try out that service and then you have the choice of keeping premiere service for $10 + taxes per month or going with basic service for just the taxes each month (It seems the government found a way to tax free stuff now). Obviously taxes will vary depending on your area. Mine happens to be $4 per month. After registration, the hardware is literally, and without exaggeration, plug & play. I plugged the Ooma device into my router and my phone into the Ooma device. Any phone could be used as it is a standard phone jack on the device. I went with a cheaper AT&T wireless phone that was on sale at Best Buy. The Ooma device goes through it's boot-up sequence and updates the software automatically. Once that is done the system was online and the phone was working for outbound calls. It was about 15 minutes until inbound calls were making their way to my phone. As for sound quality, I have no complaints. It is comparable to a land line. This may vary depending on your internet connection and home network. I have already recommended Ooma to all my friends that still have conventional phone lines to their homes.

Nice alternative to major phone providers
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've only had my Ooma for about a month now but the experience has been great so far! I switched from Comcast voice and the call quality is just as good. I even ported my number from Comcast and it only took about a week to go through instead of the 4-6 weeks Ooma estimates. Pros -lots of features including a blacklist to block calls -only pay for taxes (plus the one time fee for the device) -haven't tried 911 service yet but I can set it up so that I'm emailed or texted if someone dials 911 -porting is fast and smooth with only a one time charge Cons -because Ooma is a VOIP service it relies on your internet so if that goes out so does your phone (however you can set it up to forward your calls to another number in such an event) -if you want reliable and quality phone service you need fairly decent internet speeds (the faster the better) Overall if you mostly use cell phones but are not ready to give up your home phone number altogether I would definitely give Ooma a try.

Saving Money on my telephone service
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Have had about 3 weeks. Was concerned that may have a problem as it is used over internet but encountered no difficulties. Online support has been helpful and available 24 hours a day.. Easy to start up and use Ooma Premier which is optional which provides extra services. Saving over a hundred dollars a month. With Ooama - Linx have added FAX and other lines. Could not be more pleased.

Good way to save on your phone bill.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. You can try Ooma for free for a month. I've been using it for almost a month and I've decided to get rid of my "real" landline. Nearly every call is perfectly clear and the few that aren't are no worse than a not so good cell phone call. My house has Ethernet and phone wiring everywhere so my setup was simple. First I went online to Ooma to register the Telo and get a phone number. I plugged the Telo into my home LAN, behind my router. I setup my "real" landline to forward calls to the Ooma number, disconnected my landline phone line from the house phone wiring and connected the Telo to it. All my phones ring just as before. People getting my outgoing calls see the Ooma number for the Caller ID. That's not been a problem during my trial but could be have been if I needed to call a credit card company. Now that I've decided to keep the Ooma, I'll have my landline number ported to it. My internet service is typical. It's faster incoming than outgoing. That means that the person I am talking to is more likely to hear some garbling or experience delays than I am. I've had a few calls, not many, that have been difficult because of that. If I regularly made calls that were important, or if wanted to always make a good impression, I would not switch to VOIP. But, as I said above, it's no worse than a cell phone.

Great and promising buy
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this after my current phone service kept going up, with every one in the house hold already having cell phones this line is more for emergency's and loved ones who have known my home phone # for years so i keep it. this product came with a month of premium service, i ported my old phone number for 40 dollars and had to wait a month really before getting a chance to actually take advantage of there premium 9 dollars a mouth service of course it was too late by then oh well, im sure is a great deal provided what you get,, however email after email a few calls and even a servery plus a promise of a free gift if keep this service really got annoying real quick. although they have died down , once you get past that initial annoyance. its hard to complain. considering its still saving a whole lot of money monthly i mean in just a few months, i will have saved enough money to justify my initial cost plus the extra 35 dollars for the one day of service the other guys billed me for calming i still had service with them on that Day i was scheduled to have my phone transferred over to be in service with Oomma, (they clamed oomma never requested to have my phone number stopped with them as there instructions said other wise with the whole porting process) I was told if you just notify your old phone company they will work something out so you don't get billed an extra mouth for one day of service which should never have happened in the first place , they want you to call so they have more of an excuse to get you to stay they will attempt to bring your phone service down to 9 dollars too likely. this still was not in the best interest for me considering i dont make a lot of national calls ,Needless to say im still trying to figure out how to configure the amount of times the phone rings before its auto answer machine picks up i do not fuss with the online log in i just set it up and forgot about it , i'm use to my current phone answer machine its not easy to get the perfect mail phone box message you know so i stick with what i got, unfortunately it only rings a few times before it picks up since im still meaning to get around to changing it off the default 5 rings i set my regular one to 4 .all in all there are lots of neat and promising cool new features Omaha seems to be working on to bring to there paid service, like Custom mp3 ring tones for when some one that calls the house a shout outs like John is calling or Its your Mother, and the ability to use the phone even when power is lost or the internet is down (not sure how they will pull that one off but it leaves me looking forward to seeing whats to come, or what of those features they will provide , id suggested the ability to pick up your home phone calls on your cell phone. there's a spot for you to fill in the blanks so to speak give ideas , all in all a real good product that truly seems to be driven by the consumer

Make sure you check you internet connection first
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When you use the internet, you are usually concerned only with speed. But with voice over ip (VOIP) other parameters also matter. We have a cable modem which delivers 7 MBps download and 1 MBps upload: better than requirements and better than average. Yet, with our Ooma device, often people complain that the sound coming from our side is choppy and unintelligible. I called Ooma tech support and they asked me what the jitter was. You can check this parameter by going to http://myvoipspeed.visualware.com/ and selecting the "VoIP Quality Test". A jitter of < 5 ms is required by Ooma. Well, the jitter we experience is anywhere from 1 ms to 67 ms depending on the time of day and other traffic on the internet. Our ISP, Charter cable, doesn't support jitter performance so there is no remedy.

Goodbye Verizon
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was skeptical at first, but my doubts have been erased. Call quality is crystal clear, price is virtually non-existent ($3 in my area for fees and local tax). Why in the world would anyone fork over $50 a month to Verizon just for a landline phone when you can pay $150 once and then virtually nothing a month for the same or arguably better quality home phone service? No brainer...cut the cord and stop feeding the pig.

I worry for the phone company!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Heard about this system from a friend, and had to give it a try. This system requires a robust internet connection, but if you have one (I'm running 30MB cable) it is a great option. The system was set up in 15 minutes, and then you have nationwide phone service. For the price of the taxes (check their website), you can replace your traditional POTS with VOIP. After 2 weeks, I was comfortable enough to port my existing phone line, and I went from $43/mo for local only to >$5/mo for unlimited US long distance (OOMA basic) I then opted for the $9.99 additional for OOMA premier--With premier you can access your voicemail anywhere in the US, or forward your home phone to another line (cell?) while traveling. For me it was still an incredible deal! I have had the occasional echo, but I simply call back. I'm very happy with this choice, and I worry for the phone company (well, not really!)

Great way to save money
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We purchased Ooma after extensive comparison to others. Price and features were great. We eliminated our monthly phone bill, hook up was extremely easy including porting over your existing phone number. I would highly recommend this product.

Great value
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We ordered the Ooma one month ago. So far the only problems we've had were due to issues with our internet provider (AT&T Uverse user). There were a few times where it lost connection. We had to change our internet subscription at the same time as adding Ooma and it was AT&T's issue not Ooma. Most of the time we have a very clear connection though every once in awhile (1 time per week or so) you can hear a little glitch while you're talking on the phone. Our recent phone bill with Oooma was $3.73, so this is pretty cheap for local and long distance calling. So far, we like it pretty well for our family. The initial price of the unit will be recovered in 4 months of what we had been paying for phone service overall.

Pricey but excellent technology
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When compared to Majic Jack Plus, the price for the Ooma device is too high however; the number portability was very good and easy to follow. I could not port my current home number using Majic Jack Plus, otherwise, I would have not considered Ooma as a service due to its initial cost. Basic service is all I needed for my home so I couldn't justify the premier package. With Majic Jack Plus, I can call Puerto Rico at no additional cost but unfortunately with Ooma, Puerto Rico is considered an international call and therefore, I have to spend more money for those calls. Fortunately, I can use my Magic Jack plus to call Puerto Rico and I won't need the internatioanal packages even though the cost is only 1 cent per minute. The performance of Ooma is extremely good and reliable. I had minor issues setting it up initially however, Ooma's excellent tech support service via Live Chat was very helpful. Once it was set up, the system worked very well and I haven't had any problems so far. I have had my Ooma device for about a month now and have enjoyed it very much. I am rating this review as "Good" only due to it's price however; the service is excellent.

Excellent sound quality features.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been an OOMA customer since they started and upgraded my system from their old model to the Telo, while giving my old model to family to use. The sound quality is great and the setup is very easy. I have to pay the monthly taxes only if I stay on the basic plan.

Works perfectly - like a "real Phone"
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was tired of paying out $50 a month to the local cable company for VOIP service (that I hardly ever used anyway - in my second home). My neighbor told me about the Ooma Telo, so I thought I'd give it a try. The payback would be less than 3 months worth of service if it didn't work so well. Now I am sorry I didn't get the Telo sooner! Since this is used at my second home, I don't subscribe to a lot of the extra services that are available, so I can't comment on them, but for a basic phone it works very well. Just like any POTS line or VOIP service at a fraction of the cost.

Ooma-Telo works great
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Ooma-Telo was easy to setup and install and we were able to use it to replace our home phone and save the monthly bill. The quality and clarity is much better than we had with our old land line. Highly recommend this to anyone looking to upgrade their home phone and get rid of the bill.

Wish I had done this sooner.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was paying ATT $65 month for a basic land-line. My wife told me it was time to let the land line go as we both use our cells primarily. However like everyone else, most of my financial history and security information is validated with the land line. This option to push it to Ooma was a no-brainer and pays for itself in 2 months. We still plan to ditch the land-line, but at $3/month for government fees, I may hold it a little longer. The transition was pretty simple. Ooma handled the number port in about 2 1/2 weeks. Set up was simple and straight forward. It's only been 2 months, but so far I'm happy I finally pulled the trigger.

Great Alternative to Paying Huge Telephone Bills
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We love the Ooma Telo VoIP because, with an initial cost for the system, we get to say good bye to the phone company AND the phone bills. It was easy to setup but you do need the internet. We are using our existing phone, connected to the Ooma hub, instead of purchasing additional handsets. The only disadvantage is that we now only have one working phone right now. When it warms up, I plan to wire run a phone line to connect the hub back to my service connection point - which will connect all the phone jacks in the house to the Ooma hub.

Best purchase Made!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought the Ooma 2 years ago and thought it was a bit expensive.. But 2 years of not paying any service fees or contract fees I am happy I bought this device! This about it.. if your paying $9.99 (+Taxes) a month it will add up to 120ish a year.. That is already over half of the amount the Ooma costs! Well worth it!
