Otterbox gets serious. The inner protection is a polycarbonate case with internal padding between the case and the Note 9. Then, add optimum protection by placing it in an impact absorbing thick rubber shell. The case adds ample clearance to protect the screen when one places the phone on a table face down. The Otterbox Defender Pro case is synonymous to maximum protection. Why look any further? (Note: Recommend Otterbox Alpha glass screen protector for optimum screen protection.) One of the attached image is the bottom of the Samsung Galaxy Note 9. One can see the amount of rubber protection enclosing the phone.

The OTTERBOX case for the Note9 has the same great quality I expect from OTTERBOX I expect it to last longer than the phone.

This case is all I expected it to be, with one major exception. "and the built-in screen cover keeps your phone display scratch-free and responsive to touch." This is a Screenless Edition. If you want a case with a built in screen protector, move on.

Yes, there is a mention of a built-in screen protector and yes, said screen protector does not exist BUT that's absolutely fine. In the Note 5 version of the Otterbox Defender, the built-in screen protector had a cutout for the Home button/Fingerprint scanner. This cutout allowed dust and dirt to creep in and become trapped between the screen and the protector. I had to remove the phone from the case weekly to clean it, which I eventually stopped doing because it was such a hassle. I left all the horrid specks of dust and dirt where they were. This is no longer an issue. Yes, you do have to buy a separate screen protector, but tempered glass is better than film anyway. The film protector on the previous Otterbox Defenders would eventually become riddled with scratches and scuffs. As far as the dual layer case and holster go, these both have the same solid build quality I've come to expect from Otterbox. The design on the outer slip cover is a little plain compared to the Note 5 version, but I'm going with function over form. I've already dropped the phone from about hip height and all is well. Admittedly, the screen area is not completely protected, but your phone would have to fall and hit the edge of something like a table to be at risk. Drops to the ground or other flat surfaces should be covered. The issue is that Otterbox is attempting to accommodate the Note 9 "Edge" swiping features (that I don't even use). If this case offered true 360 screen protection, you would have difficulty using those cool Edge swiping features for whatever it is that they do. Overall great purchase.

1. Excellent case. 2. Hideous installation instructions. Google how to fit the case on your phone. 3. Clunky and poorly conceptualized belt clip. 4. Yet, still has a nice belt clip conversion into a phone stand. 5. Overpriced. Should be $30-40 max. 6. Would like a flap over the pen and speaker to protect them when not needing them. It could greatly a. Decrease debris infiltration b. Protect from any direct impacts from falls.

I had an OtterBox Commuter cover on my last phone, LG G4, and was impressed with how well it protected the phone, so I decided to go with another OtterBox for the Note 9. I have had this case for a week and it's been working great. The top and bottom edges stick out a bit so I can put the phone face-down without the screen hitting the surface. The S Pen is easy to access because of the cut-out in the corner and the rubber outer part of the case keeps the phone from sliding around. When the flap is up for the usb c port or mic jack, it does cause the edge to stick out a little, so that if you put the phone face-down, it won't be completely flat. But not so much that the screen touches the desk or whatever flat surface it's on. Otherwise I find this to be the perfect case for me.

I have always liked the Otterbox series for all of my phones that I have had. This one didn't let me down. Fit the phone very well. Accidentally drop my phone a couple of times and it did it's job. I guess the only negative thing that I can say about this case is that you can't have a screen protector on your phone while using this case. Screen Protector will not a good connection at the bottom. I would give this a 10 out of 10.

Had the original otter box back in 2013 for my note 3 and quality has remained. Bought this one for note 9 and only two differences, defender side lips aren't as raised and no screen protection film. Not a deal breaker..get a zagg curved glass. Its conforms perfect in the case and is the most simple yet perfect protector I've used to date. No more bubbles messing with film. The case offers further frontal protection with clip on cover. I've already accidentally dropped the phone roughly 2 1/2 feet and not a mark. The rubber added backing gives shock absorbtion. The case even though thick, also works with samsung wireless quick charger ONLY when on flat base and centered. I've tested two this way. Finally the case completely snaps around the note 9 with added port protection at bottom. Sound isn't muffled considering the 9 has 2 speakers. Well worth the cost.. Buy online bb order and you get a discount when combining. I saved $65 off case, screen and extra USB cord

This is the best case I've ever had for my cell. Its pretty pricey but I think it's well worth it. The case surrounds my cell like a fortress and covers the openings that wasn't in the case I had before. The only drawback was it didn't have a screen protector that came with it, but I got that covered with another purchase.

I had to buy my wife a Note 9 and had to get her the same Protection. I've used Otterbox before on my S3 and on my Note 4. They were bulky and made operating the phone hard and protected the phone like no other. Fast forward to this, and I was a little nervous about the smaller or less protection it looked like it offered. But on the other hand, I can work most everything on the phone like I had no case. I use touch on my screen all the way to the edge without issue. The buttons all work and the only thing that I have to work at is to get to the pen. But once you figure out what needed, it’s all good. I have not dropped it yet like I have done on my old phones, but as far as I can it should work. My other concern was finding a glass protector to use that would not conflict with the case and I ended up going with Zagg-InvisibleShield Glass Screen Protector that I purchased the same time. All in all, I would buy again.

This case is perfect for my Note 9! It fits snugly and has great grip unlike some of the other cases I've tried. I have kids who drop my phone constantly and this Defender case is perfect for protection! Highly recommend

I still choose Otterbox as my phone case protection. BUT, the new style of phones, with the curved glass face, has Otterbox changing the way the Defender series cases are. The new cases DO NOT have a front screen protector. The case does have a lip at the top and the bottom of the case to provide some relief from dropping your phone, but if you drop it face down onto a rock or rocks, you can be sure that the screen is going to break. There are screen protectors out there (and I put one on) that are either a plastic like film or made out of glass and stick on top of your phones screen. The glass ones seem to give a little more protection. If you drop your phone, the protective glass breaks, but keeps your screen from being broke. That is not to say that it still can't happen, but is at least a level of defense to help protect those fragile glass screens. My family and I have broke a fee in our time.. Here is a great choice though; if you sign up for the Geek Squad protection plan, it at least covers part of the cost for damage that might happen to the phone. It's at least worth looking into and can be cheaper than what the phone Carrier's charge and might have a cheaper Co-pay to boot!

This is an awesome case for the note 9 I had the same case for the s8+ and I never had a problem. My phone is now well protected. You will still need to buy a screen protector. Plus otterbox has a lifetime warranty

I'm actually still giving it a "Good" review, since even without screen protection the tolerances are great, and it feels secure - provided you don't drop it on the screen of course. The problem is that any other aftermarket glass screen protector (ZAGG, Armor Edge, etc - which cost almost as much as this case) don't meet the edge of the screen, and leave a gap along the sides this case doesn't cover. That would have been solved if this came with a built-in protector as past Defenders have, and that's a disappointment - both in price and quality. It's great for what it does do, but it can and should be doing more.

Recentky broke a screen from a drop offloading equipment from a ladder rack on top of a pickup. Came down on the corner. The Otterbox Symmetry is a nice case, but there isn't enough there for a corner impact on a Note 9. The screen had been pulverized in the corner with oddly enough on two small cracks and working but the touch was off. I had the Pro Case before on a Note 4 and getting back to using it's evolved equivalent is so nice!! Benefits: - Can select "better" off the radius'd edges better for scrolling and text selecting, from annoyance to now achievable with some skill. - Water intrusion protective flap over the usb charge port...who doesn't put there phone ports up in their back pockets....and then a 40 minute no charge period minimum. No longer a problem with the Pro. - The inner foam pad which blocks out dust and small whatever from scratching and imbedding itself in the phone's backside. - Buttons that don't get activated as much; though a little harder to locate and see. - Rubbery material is grippier to the touch and doesn't scuff and scrape as much or near the same as the symmetry. Negatives: - Speaker ports are a bit weaker...the Note 9 has loud speakers (not the loudest out there) but I feel this product took away 10~15 percent of that and some of the bass. But I feel there is enough sound there it doesn't bother me as much except when it's crowded and loud in areas here and there. - Microphone sounds less ambient or like a much lower sampled bitrate. Kind of a dissapointment on a Vlog, but it doesn't seem to be a problem on a call with the speakerphone. - Flaps over the ports are a bit of a pain to open at times. - Protection over the S-Pen corner is minimal as can be - a Samsung fault as how can they expect cell phone cases to be properly built to protect across all of what's going on in that corner. But I think this has been going on for generations now. Over pleased and it feels professional and like a higher end jacketed case.

I've seen a few other rugged cases out there, but this seems to be the best that's widely available. It has held up and has been just as tight a fit (even after a few removals) over several months of daily use and carrying. Even the knockoff of it is better than some other mainline cases. It has even held up better than the Armor Edge screen protector I obtained with it. Have to say I see no added benefit of the Defender Pro vs the Defender I see elsewhere. Both seem to be the same model but for the exclusive version name at Best Buy, but with promotions, Best Buy probably has the best price.

Out of all the phone cases, I feel the Otter Box brand is the best. Every time I purchase a new phone, I always have to purchase an Otter Box. Their product is great because you have a thick case that consists of a rubber and hard plastic cover for that extra protection. The Otter Box brand cost more, but it's worth it. The last one I had protected my phone so well, it looked brand new each time I took it out of the case. I gave this product 4 stars instead of 5 because the last case I had (for my Samsung S7 Edge) included the screen protector and this one doesn't. I wish they would continue to include the screen protector because I place my phone in my purse with all sorts of hard items and I'm worried I will end up with scratches on my phone.

i was surprised that there wasn't much to this for the money, but it is a rugged case. my temporary case slipped on and off. very easy. it was 7.00 on ebay. this case secure. it won't just slip off. anything you do with the phone, it stays secure in the case. this phone has the infinity edge so maybe that's why they don't have plastic over the screen, but sometimes that gets in the way. this is 1,000 phone and you really need a GOOD case for your phone. don't fool around with cheap. go the extra mile to protect your investment.
