If you believe physical media is dead, spend an hour or two with your favorite film in UHD on this and I guarantee you’ll change your mind. Not only does the picture quality on 4k discs with this player blow any streaming platform out of the water, but its ability to uplevel the quality of older Blu-rays and even DVDs is surprisingly incredible. I found myself more than once checking true output of older 1080p discs because, to my eyes, I couldn’t believe it wasn’t native 4k. Sound quality is off the charts too. The fullness and detail you can achieve (depending on your sound system) is leaps and bounds better than any previous player I’ve owned, and certainly better than compressed streaming sound. I’ll admit the menu system is a bit complicated, but that comes with the territory of purchasing a top of the line “it can do anything” player, and it’s pretty easy to navigate with the help of more video and audio-technically focused people on YouTube who can just walk you through it. It’s all worth it, though. I’ve never enjoyed my media this much before, and even my streaming-only friends admit the experience is better. It’s an expensive piece of equipment to be sure, but if you love entertainment and still believe in the quality that comes with physical media, this is the player you need to wring the most potential out of your setup.

This is a well built player with the best picture quality I’ve seen for BD and 4K disks. It really excels at HDR and Dolby vision, I don’t think there is another player that can produce as good a picture. I’ve had zero issues with it perfectly playing every disc I throw at it and has never locked up or glitched like all my other bran players have occasionally. My OLED Sony is just amazing with this player, and the improvement on even my 2015 85” Samsung was surprising, specially on HDR movies. With the older Samsung I disabled HDR on my Apple TV as it was always too dark and made the picture much worse then with it off, but with this player HDR looks amazing. The settings allow the scale to be set by tV type and it makes all the difference. I do wish it was an all format player, but I’ll keep my Sony ES 4K player for the un-supported formats, the quality upgrade is worth buying this Panasonic.

This replaced an older Oppo Blu-Ray player. The Panasonic will load the video disc more quickly and gives an excellent video and audio output. It enhances a regular Blu-Ray or DVD. I do regret it will not read SACD's, but in truth i did not have that many. When used as a CD player the sound is full and rich. I have not played with customizing the settings yet and suspect i can improve it a bit, although the factory settings work so well I coukd be wrong. The player is very well built and silent in operation. Very pleased with its performance so far.

This thing is built like a tank, has SO many options that you won't find on other 4K players that were seemingly meant to spin the disc and output video, nothing else. Pricey? Yes. But a fine example of "you get what you pay for" IMO. If you have a large library of 4K discs or are in the process of growing one and want the best, this is an amazing option. Setup was simple and there's definitely a noticeable difference between this and the $300 LG player I was previously using. THANK YOU Panasonic for including a backlit remote, all you other companies selling higher end audio/video stuff PLEASE take notice :)

Watched this unit for over a year. Darn thing never went on sale anywhere. Even at this price, it sold out a couple of times, though. As it should have. This is the best 4K player available today. CON: LG should stop sitting on its laurels. No excuse why LG has not put out a newer model with 7.1.2 (Dolby Atmos) capability. That’s it for the Cons. PRO: REMOTE. Full size. Rectangular. For the cost of this unit, one would reasonably expect the buttons to be backlit. They are not. The remote has several buttons – Subtitle, Audio, Video Settings, HDR Settings, Sound Effects and High Clarity – not found on LG’s “Magic Remote.” These buttons give you direct access to various menus. FEATURES. Literally, too many to list but includes De Blur, De-judder, Clear, Smooth, Real Cinema, OLED Motion Pro, etc., as well as the usual suspect. There are recommended values for each setting on the Internet. A suggestion. The included “Basic Owner’s Manual” - a tiny 13-half-page pamphlet really - is useful as a fire starter in your fireplace. But, it appears to be for the American market. VIDEO: Own two LG 820s. Picture quality on a 77" LG OLED CX was marginally improved over the 820, noticeably in the Black and Contrast. Test disc and scene is always Atomic Blond 4K at the apartment fight sequence, which has motion, contrast and is dark. Good test sequence. SOUND: Sound is output using the unit’s analog plugs to 2 pre-amps and 6 amps with 4 powered subs (18", two 10" and one 8"). Unit handled it all very well and produced concert-quality sound. THX: THX certified. However, such certification has more to do with the design and materials used in the construction of whatever than with picture or sound quality. The final output must meet THX specifications. It is the mandatory build quality that makes THX certification desirable for the consumer. HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION

Best 4k player I have ever owned. Built like a tank and performance second to none. HDR optimizer is simply a stunning feature. Outperforms my Oppo 203 in every way. A must have for true video and audio lovers.

I absolutely love this 4k player it definitely made a huge difference with picture and sound quality for sure, very noticeable!!!! I had a sony 4k player that this replaced and man it outshines that player, definitely keeping this for the long haul!!!!

The Panasonic 4K US9000 Short Throw is an amazing projector. One of the best things about the short throw is there is no walk-thru shadows along with it's spectacular 4K clearness. If you want to see and hear great movies, this short throw is the ONE.

I had an opal Blu-ray player and was really curious as this would be a real upgrade. Considered the quality of Opo. It is it’s a fantastic 4K player.

Zero regrets. If you're a movie buff, "this is the way." No buffering, no motion blur, no frustrations. Way better than even the best streaming services. Super high quality and a favorite for those "special" series and movies... to the point that loading a disc is a popcorn worthy "experience."

My OPPO BD-105 failed after many years(13) of use. I researched replacement options and decided on the Panasonic 4K UB9000 to match with my in-home theater system. The Panasonic has worked flawlessly with my system. It compliments my Sony 4K OLED TV and my Denon 6700 receiver which has a 6.1 speaker setup.

21 days with it so far and works flawlessly. Just be sure to check to see if the legs on bottom are all level. 2 of the legs on my UB-9000 were unlevel causing the unit to rock back and forth every so slightly. You want the player to be stable on a level surface or else The laser "can" go off track and cause reading errors. No need to return the player though... pretty sure the legs are adjustable if you twist them but thats not what I did. I just nudged things under the legs and measured till it was balanced. Best 4k bluray player design. Very silent operating. Easy to use and good looking user interface. Cool features and the Sound Clarity mode actually makes my 5.1 Reference Klipsch Sound System sound better when On compared to when turned Off. Standard 1080p Blurays look much better on the UB-9000 then on Ps5 in my opinion.

Prior to picking up this 4k blu ray player I’d been streaming movies heavily or watching physical media on gaming consoles. Since picking up a new tv and a high end projector set up I wanted to step it up. This player is incredible. Gives options to choose different tone mapping for HDR content based on your screen type. The biggest noticeable difference, and why I try not to stream new content vs buying 4k discs is audio quality though. The lossless audio from ultra HD discs played on this player is 2nd to none for a home theater. The player is very well built, but is definitely pricey for what it is, so I took away a star for Value.

It lives up to the hype and it’s put together like a beautiful little tank. I’d buy it again if I had to but I think it will probably be around and working as long as I am. Worth it.

Still one of the best 4k Blu-ray players on the market. It’s well built and performs exceptionally well. The disc reader is very sensitive and might skip or freeze if they aren’t cleaned before playing

I compared sony ubp x800 and panasonic 820 and 9000 with 160" screen and 5.1 system. The Sony had smoother sound than Panasonic 820, but the picture of Panasonic was cleaner and better. I wondered if the Panasonic UB9000 was really the same as the 820 except for the analog audio out, UB9000 sounded much better than the ub820 even with HDMI, and the picrture was also better. Since the ub820 is just a good sound, the ub9000 is an audiophile sound ; I could hear the details of every instrument in the movie music very reliably and clearly. It cost me $1000, but with the sound and picture, it's definitely worth it. If you have a home theater audio setup and projector, I highly recomand it. I've had a Sony Blu-ray player for 10 years, but I didn't realize how much a high-end Blu-ray player could change the quality of my home theater.

Purchased this for the dual HDMI output; one for video and one for audio, to complement my audiophile-grade home theater. The sound quality improvement is noticeable and worth the purchase. The player is whisper quiet when reading discs and has played every disk I tried; DVD, Blu-ray, 4K Ultra Blu-ray. Very happy with this purchase.

I own a Panasonic UB820 but I was interested to see why this unit cost 2X as much. As soon as I pulled it out of the box, the differences were obvious. It's rock solid, heavy and built like a tank. Quality internals and separate power supplies for audio and video output. It's THX certified. It has an HDR optimizer, that helps with tone mapping. All of this produces the best picture from a 4K player I've ever seen. I watched these two decks side by side, and while the UB820 produces a great picture, the 9000 is a step up. The colors are more realistic. The sync between lip movement and voices are spot on, but if an adjustment is needed, there is a setting for it. It automatically switch's to Dolby Vision unlike my Sony 800 M2. This was one of the reasons I replaced my Sony. My Blu Ray DVD's look better on this machine which auto up-scales to 4K. It has high grade 32 bit DAC's to give it a full rich sound. There's a quirk...you must go into settings to turn off the digital out to allow the analog audio to play. It's the only way to utilize the DA's. Another take away is that it doesn't play SACD's or DVD-Audio. However, If watching 4K DVD's is your main reason for getting this machine, and you want the best picture, and great sound, this unit delivers

Huge upgrade from my old Sony player. Solid build quality which leads to a much heavier player. HDR and sound are improved greatly. Very quiet while in operation. In my limited use of the player over the last month, I have yet to have an issue with disc freeze. Do wish for the cost it played SACD and DVD audio.
