They appreciate the excellent picture quality, affordable price, simple setup process, suitability for gaming, accurate color reproduction, and dependable performance. Still Love Panasonic Plasma's

This is my second Panasonic Plasma - my first being a higher end 50" G10 that is a few years old. Even with the exact settings, you can see a slight quality difference between the upper end Panasonic and U50, but for the price, the picture quality still surpasses most tv's. In my opinion, plasma's still produce the most realistic colors, tones and black levels. This Panasonic is being used in a room with a little more light than where my other Panasonic plasma is located, but still performs fairly well and the brightness and contrast are set at 50/60 respectively during a short break-in. The main problem is glare but that is because I have to have it located in the absolute worst part of the living room given the furniture layout. If I could switch walls, glare would be a non-issue. I have never had any problems with any type of image retention - which Panasonic has proven to be a thing of the past. Too bad Panasonic is abandoning their tv line to produce panels. I will enjoy both of my Panasonic plasmas until such day they will have to be replaced with whatever is current. Until then, I will enjoy both plasma tv's without any regret. Most people who don't know how to tell a plasm apart from an lcd are shocked when they learn that it is a plasma. Great TV for the price!

I bought this tv to connect to my home Media Center using an XBox. So, I was not concerned that it only has two HDMI inputs as this is all I will ever need. Sound quality is adequate and you shouldn't expect any flat-panel tv to deliver deep bass tones since there isn't much room for hefty speakers. Setup was very easy and all the setup screens are straightforward and done via the remote. The picture quality is excellent and as with most plasma tv's, this one has deeper and richer contrast and color than my other LED/LCD flat panel. If you don't need an ethernet connection and will just connect this tv to your HD cable box, then you shouldn't hesitate in seriously considering this Panasonic. On the other hand, if you're looking for internet connectivity to services like Netflix, you could still use this tv and connect it to a smart blu-ray player which are generally under $100. Overall I am very pleased with the quality and performance of the tv considering the $649 price.

This is the perfect TV for those of us that don't need a 3D Smart TV. It has the great picture you would expect from a Panasonic plasma. I use it with my Denon AVR-3310CI surround receiver so the fact that it only has two HDMI inputs is not a problem. I only use one input anyway as I use the receiver's HDMI switching. The sound from the small (but not really that bad) speakers is not an issue because I get my audio from the receiver. I don't see spending the extra money for 3D which is just a fad and will be gone away in two or three years anyway. Besides, I think it looks stupid watching TV with sun glasses on. Where I live the internet is not good enough right now to use with a connected TV. I also have to watch my monthly usage carefully to make sure I don't exceed my limits. I don't need another device connected to my internet connection. So you see, if your requirements are like mine, this might be the perfect TV. If you want something bigger, check out the sixty inch model. It might be even more perfect for you.

I purchased this TV after looking at both plasma and LCD and Plasma by far is the better choice. The higher refresh rate and bolder array of colors and texture made it an easy pick for me. Out of all the plasmas in this price range this by far was the best....other reviews from critics, customers and best buy sales reps all said panasonic was the way to go and it certainly is. For the price I paid for my tv i could have gotten an extra inch with samsung but the picture just wasn't as clean. To be this was one of the best investments i've heard...forget all the bad stories you've heard about plasmas...these things are built to last now. The only downside is that the TV came with only two HDMI ports but in the big scheme of things it doesn't matter since i have a surround sound receiver which gimves me more ports. Other than that I would recommend this to anyone!!!

The Panasonic 50" Plasma is a great TV. This is my first plasma and i have been missing out on a lot with LCD's. The only complaint is that the color calibrating is a little rough but once you get it fine tuned it is flawless. At first i had my PS3 hooked up with the component cables and it had scrolling bars running up the screen and then i hooked it up with the HDMI cable and it was crystal clear except now i cannot figure out how to get the HDMI to work on my PS3 anymore? Not the TV's fault just my own for not knowing how to do it so i have been using the component cables. In the pictures you can see the TV on the stand and the sub on the floor with the front grill on and then you can see the sub without the grill. The picture of the TV is right out of the box no settings were changed the plastic around the screen is still on it

We replaced an old 34" non-flat screen tv with this 50" Panasonic plasma. I was very nervous about the possibility of glare and reflection, based on other reviews I saw online, since the tv was going in our living room with a big south-facing window perpendicular to the tv. It turned out not to be a problem at all! The picture is absolutely gorgeous. We hooked it up with an AV receiver and external speakers, and have it set up to work with BluRay/DVD, satellite, Apple tv (which we're using to stream Netflix as well as mirror the iPad), and our old Wii and VCR. The tv has the connections we needed to hook up the old stuff with the old style cables, in addition to the new HD connections. We had our techy son-in-law do the connections for us but it really wasn't difficult - the hardest part was figuring out how to make the old Wii and VCR work with the new AV receiver. I can't comment on the sound because we're listening via the external speakers. I also can't comment on the Viera internet service thing, since we're using the Apple tv for our internet connection. I was really pleased with the price, too. After shopping around including online, I found that Best Buy offered the best price. The delivery was right on time on the day I requested it and the delivery guys tested it out before they left. They would have hooked it up for us too, I think, if we hadn't been switching out the AV receiver at the same time. I also felt like we got very good service at the Best Buy store. The guy I talked to was knowledgeable about tvs in general and this tv in particular, and gave us good advice about plasma versus LCD. The only quibble I had was that another salesman tried to get me to buy a $100 cable, claiming that the regular cable wouldn't be able to keep up the pace with the picture. We used the regular cable and like I said the picture is absolutely beautiful.

This TV is great. It gives great picture and sound. I used it with video game system, computer, DVD player, and it works great with all of them. Unfortunately it only has two HDMI inputs and I have to change plug and unplug when trying to use different accessories. Easy set up and it looks great. I have it with a wall mount and it is perfect. I enjoy this TV very much and also do all my friends when they come to play video games or watch movies.

When it comes to a TV, picture quality should be the #1 concern. All others come secondary. This TV delivers in that department. When I wanted to replace my old Sony tube TV, I had the following criteria: a) no 3D b) dumb, not smart c) Picture Quality d) Price (should be less than $700) c) a Glass or glass-like screen over fiberglass/plastic like screen It was increasingly difficult to get a dumb, non-3D TV. I can't imagine wearing glasses just to watch TV. I picked this TV because, it fit all of the above requirements. The picture quality is as good as any expensive $2000+ TV in Best Buy's Magnolia collection. For a naked eye, there will be no difference in picture quality between this one and much expensive models. There is a CINEMA calibration preset. This fits almost all kind of pictures, video games etc. Choose this and forget about it. The sound isn't too bad; of course we cannot expect the richness of home theatre like audio out of a TV, but it certainly is not poor, tinny like a few other models. The lack of 'smartness' can be compensated by a Blu-ray player, a Video Game System, or any device like Sony Internet Player, Roku, Boxee Box etc. I'm sure almost everyone that has a TV as nice as this one will have any of those devices. I use Xbox 360 myself and the picture quality of Netflix videos, games etc are nothing less than stunning. This TV gets even better if you have other Panasonic Viera devices like a camcorder. One remote controls all those devices. The USB interface is useful, user manual is satsifactory, the remote is not too complex. Note that, this TV can be controlled via your existing universal remote control. My only complaint would be about the number of HDMI ports; one or two additional ports would have been terrific. But then, it is not a major drawback. Overall, this is a purchase I do not regret and would highly recommend if you need a simple TV that delivers great picture quality for not much $$$.

We upgraded from an old tube-style TV, so we have been utterly blown away by the size and quality of the picture. I did my fair share of research, and this TV consistently gets good reviews by internet reviewers and more independent sources of information. This was also a well-priced TV. Since it's a plasma, we try to be careful to avoid burn-in - we usually stretch the picture if there are black stripes, and the remote makes this easy to do. This TV is pretty basic as far as features are concerned - no internet or streaming movies. We get that through our Wii, so it was not a big concern for us. The TV does have some settings for color balance, but it's very, very basic (which is why I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars). It took a little fiddling, but we figured out how to keep blacks from washing out when there is a lot of black on the screen. The disadvantage now is that if there is a lot of white on the screen (i.e. a snow scene), the white turns gray. It's not the ability of the TV to make the color, it's the settings - whites are great when there is a moderate amount of white on the screen. We're not terribly bothered by this, but if you are a TV geek, this will likely drive you bonkers. Oh, and at least one more HDMI port would be fabulous. We've used up the two with our cable TV and our Blu-Ray.

Overall this a quality television for the price. I often connect my laptop to it to watching events that I can't watch on network TV. The reception is excellent. Remember that when watching broadcast TV the quality is only as good as the broadcast. For DVDs, HD, and Roku or PC streaming, this TV is excellent. Sound quality is better than I expected. I did not purchase speakers for space reasons, but, I don't need to. At moderate volume in a room with low to moderate ambient noise (e.g., conversation, washing dishes) the sound quality is quite good particularly in HD broadcasts. Now for the bad. This TV produces a lot of heat. I have a wall mounted fan that blows across the front and back of the the TV and it really makes huge difference. If purchasing this TV keep that in mind. You need to keep it cool.

At 50" for about $600 you can't beat this television. Plasma is still the best in terms of picture quality and while not as bright as LED/LCD picture, that said I do have it set up in a well lit room and it is still absolutely stunning. Deep blacks, accurate colors and clear motion for your movies and video games. As for the smaller array of inputs, I would just say to get an HDMI switcher or A/V receiver if you need more than three inputs. And if you miss having internet built into your TV then just hook it up to either an XBOX 360, Playstation, Mac Mini or an inexpensive BluRay player with internet built in. If you need 3D then get the TCP50ST50 for about $100 more. If you want good sound quality get a soundbar or stereo because no TV has the room for good speakers. And if you're concerned about price, you can't get this cheaper anywhere else. I shopped it all over the internet. Get off the fence and buy this TV! You won't be sorry. Nuff said.

When deciding on televisions at best buy, I was looking for a 46"+ with an Internet connection to be able to use Netflix. After talking to a sales rep, I finally settled on this television. The cost to have a tv that had Internet were at least $200 more. I decided to buy a bluray with the Internet instead. No problems at all with the TV. It's heavier then my other flat screen so it doesn't shake when someone walks by and I don't panic thinking it will fall over. Both of my flat screens are plasma TVs that everyone told me that I would have problems with but they are the best TVs I've had in years. Even the reflection I was suppose to have due to the glass front is minimal and I never notice it.

I've owned this for about a month and I'm really satisfied with my purchase. Picture quality is second to none and for the price I paid ($600), totally worth it. Console games look fantastic. Blurays are also incredible on here. While the standard speakers don't offer much in the low-end audio spectrum, they are just fine for dialogue. Most people will want a home theater system hooked up to this anyway. Setup was a piece of cake -- I managed to do it on my own even though two people are recommended. I wouldn't recommend a solo install for anyone not physically capable of lifting more than 100 pounds. The only downside is a lack of inputs: Two HDMIs and a composite/component, USB and that's all. Getting a splitter would fix this problem. It's also not a "smart" TV but I wasn't looking for one in the first place, so if that's not a deal-breaker for you, go with this one.

On a budget after graduating college and entering the working world, I was looking for a television with above-average picture quality and size and below-average price. I wasn't looking for a "smart" tv -- both my blu-ray player and XBOX can supply me with apps like Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, etc. -- and I'm not into the 3D thing yet, as there's truthfully not much content available at this time... To put it simply, you're simply not going to find a television that gets you the bang for your buck like this one. For anyone worried about the burn-in with which plasmas are notoriously associated, don't. Today's plasmas are made with much better technology that significantly reduces burn-in. I've spent hours at a time watching shows with a ticker and playing games that display a constant image on the screen, and my screen is yet to display any burn-in. A final note: Don't worry about the grayish look you'll see on the plasmas displayed in the store! These screens are set to a "display model" setting which conserves electricity. This results in a picture that doesn't match the LED counterparts that undoubtedly surround the plasmas. The conspiracy theorist in me believes this is intentional to convince customers to purchase the more expensive LED models. When I set up this tv at home, I simply changed the tv's setting and the picture became amazingly better. Conclusion: If you're looking for a television with a good picture, decent size, and low price and can live without smart apps and 3D, pull the trigger on this set!

The picture is excellent for the price range. -The T.V. is able to keep up with high action movies and sports because of the 600fps panel. -Blacks are deep and overall picture when calibrated is well worth 500 to 600 spent on the T.V. -Speakers are average and due well in a 10x10 room, any room bigger than that I would recommend a sound system. The only negative things is that this T.V. is for the picture only, there are no internet features, but all you need is a blu-ray player that can connect to the internet with the apps and everything and your all set. SO in the end if your looking for a good bedroom or game room T.V. this is a great option.

I got this TV around Christmas time. The main reason for buying it was price and size. The setup was very easy and fast. Two people can install it in about 20 minutes. The picture quality is very good. You might have to tweak the settings a little bit to get it just right. The TV is missing a few ports though. It has 2 hdmi ports which is nice but there's no VGA ports for devices with older connections. Also make sure that you have good lighting. If you don't the TV almost turns into a mirror. It's very reflective and can be very annoying. Usually I just turn off the lights and sit in the dark while I watch TV. Be careful for image burn in when you first get it. Turn off the TV itself before your turn of your cable box or whatever you have. Overall it's a great TV and I would definitely recommend it.

This TV has the great picture quality you would expect from a Plasma TV but it also has the downsides of one. Power usage is higher then that of a comparable LED TV. It is also heavier than a comparable LED TV. The last notable downside to this TV that I have found is it's 2 HDMI Ports. This can easily be exasperated without much effort. I found it easy to get the picture quality set the way I wanted it using the on screen menus and once the adaptive lighting feature was disabled the screen was plenty bright enough for my bedroom. Overall it was a perfect purchase to get a large format screen at minimal price.

This is my first plasma TV. I was reluctant to purchase one because of all the negative press older plazas have had. I am glad to say that I have had no issues with this tv amazing picture quality great sound when it's not hooked up to my klipsh surround sound. Other thoughts I did have one issue with white artifacts and snow when hooked up to my ps3. I did a little research and turn off the deep color mode and it solved the problem. Also it only has two HDMI ports which is kinda frustrating. Al in all I give this TV a 4.5 out of five and because I got it cheep $599 it gets the other half a star back.

Reviewed and Reviewed this online. Read the complaints about not a bright picture...they must not be crazy. I followed the instructions and let it burn in. Changed the settings to match a few recommendations on the internet and the pictured looked good. After the break in period of 200 hours, all I can say is wow. It looks fantastic. Almost too real on HD TV. Better than the 42 LED it replaced. It is hard to believe the picture gets better, after the first 200 hours. Wish it had 1-2 more HDMI, sound quality is just okay. Picture makes up for that easily. No pixilation when watching sports.
