My TV is installed with the SONY home theater system. The combination of these products offers the performance features most suitable for my needs. The professional consultation of store personnel helped me choose the products properly, and the professional installation by the "Geek Squad" assures optimum performance. I should have made the decision to purchase this product long ago.

I'll start first with the few gripes I have with the TV. My first big complaint is fact that it only has 2 HDMI inputs, any TV produced in the past couple of years should have at least 3 if not 4 inputs, however a nice AV receiver fixes that really fast. Second is the WiFi performance. I've never owned a TV that had great WiFi to begin with and this one didn't change that. The first month or two I had it, I had issue with the WiFi not remembering the network after I turned the TV off thus having to reconnect it every time I turned it on. I've also had issues with the built in Netflix app not wanting to connect (interestingly it only had issues with Netflix, all the other services worked fine, so I'm not sure if that was the TV or Netflix). With that said, since then, I've had no issues connecting to my WiFi network or Netflix. Luckily if WiFi does become an issues there's an Ethernet jack in the back as a last resort. My final issue with the TV is limited amount of online streaming services, but really at this price point you get the ones you really need, like Netflix, Hulu Plus, and Amazon, although HBOGo would've been nice. Now on to the good stuff... What is the one reason we buy a TV? To watch stuff, and I bought this TV because I read a lot of reviews saying it had excellent picture quality, and there it does not disappoint. It's not as bright as most LEDs out there but I've always been a fan of plasmas because of picture quality and performance and for a TV at this price point, the picture quality rivals those of TVs two to three times its price. 600Hz refresh rate means no lag when it comes to action movies and sports and has no lag playing video games, especially first person shooters like CoD. Because it's not as bright as other TVs, however, in bright rooms or with a lot of lights on (especially directly in front of the screen) the picture will wash out a bit and won't look nearly as good. Glare also becomes a real issue so I wouldn't have this in a room with skylights (blackout curtains do wonders!) All that said in a dark to low lit room, I can't stress how pretty the pictures looks, especially at this price. Video is smooth and crisp, and as with most plasmas, the black levels are unmatched. Other nice touches include a dedicated Netflix button on the remote which lets you jump back and forth between Netflix and TV without having to switch inputs. Also the TV allows you to play YouTube videos from your phone or tablet which is nice if you listen to music through YouTube or want to show friends and/or family videos. All and all this is a great TV with amazing picture quality, even out of the box (although a custom picture guide will do wonders, just Google it) and I would recommend it to anyone, especially those on a budget who want a great looking TV!

MY GIRLFRIEND AND I BOUGHT THIS TV WHEN WE PURCHASED OUR NEW HOME. WE JUST WANTED SOMETHING BIGGER BUT WE WERE ON A BUDGET. WE WERE IN SEARCH FOR PLASMA BECAUSE ALL WE DO IS WATCH SPORTS, PLAY VIDEO GAMES AND WATCH THE OCCASIONAL BLUE RAY. WITH THE 600 HZ REFRESH RATE, PLASMA IS THE WAY TO GO! I LOVE WATCHING SPORTS ON THIS TV. NO MOTION BLUR, THE COLORS LOOK VIVID AND THE SOUND IS VERY GOOD. I AM PLANNING ON HOOKING UP MY SURROUND SOUND, BUT THIS TV HAS PLENTY OF SOUND ITSELF. THE INTERNET IS VERY COOL TOO. THERE ARE SOME VERY FUN FEATURES YOU CAN USE AS WELL. MY ONLY COMPLAINT IS THE TV ONLY HAS 2 HDMI PORTS. BUT THAT WAS EASLIY SOLVED BY PURCHASING A DEVICE THAT GAVE ME 4 EXTRA PORTS. VERY USEFUL AND VERY AFFORDABLE! OVER ALL, A GREAT TV FOR A GREAT PRICE. YOU WILL NOT BE UPSET WHEN YOU GET THIS TV HOME.

    Excellent TV for Gaming

I bought this TV only for gaming and I am completely satisfied with it. It was easy to setup and the consoles look great. I tried Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PS3 and look insane. I tried the TV connections to Internet and they were good as well. The control has all playback functions so you can easily pause Netflix movies, etc. Regarding the cons, only two so far. Two HDMI inputs which is hard with all the consoles. However, a bought a 4 HDMI port hub and there is no lag at all. I connected the Xbox One directly to the TV and if I need to use any of other ones I just turn on the hub and thats it. The other con is that the internet apps are very basic but I rarely use them anyway. You can just use the game consoles and access other apps via them instead of the TV. A little issue I had with this TV was that all plasma cannot be laid flat so I had to come up with a good way to get this in my truck home instead of waiting for 3 weeks for delivery. So be aware, LCDs can be flat on the way home, but not plasma.

I've had every type of television, I mainly buy samsung led or Panasonic plasma. I am big into gaming. I purchased this tv for games. I must admit I was extremely happy when I got to take this panny for a test drive. You can see extra detail in dark scenes of video games that you couldn't see on a led mainly due to motion blur. Also no controller lag. You don't even have to be on a game mode to eliminate input lag. So that was a big plus with me. Blu ray looks breath taking. The only bad thing I could find with the tv was the brightness. It's not bright enough for a well lit room. So if you have a bright room stick with an led, unless you use your tv at night. I'd say I'd take a plasma over an led any day. Also I bought my plasma for 649.00 on sale. So don't pay any. More.

The Panasonic 50s60 is an excellent tv with great great picture quality. With the great color that I believe trumps any LED's color, and the refresh rate of 600hz (the highest available) this TV is a steal for any entry level tv. I would keep in mind though that with the glass screen a major reflection is apparent with windows. Given that I have blinds covering mine there was no problem at all. One of the cool features the tv had was the Smart Share feature. Just download the app from the market and you're able to control the tv's functions and show any videos, pictures, and play your music on the tv as well, wirelessly. Speakers weren't the best, but easily fixed with a soundbar or receiver based system. All around, was a great tv, love it.

Researched this purchase and glad I did as I found a great plasma with super blacks and great color. Great for sports and all the fast action as well. I didn't need a lot of bells and whistles found on other expensive plasmas so if your not wanting 3D but want a internet ready display and al the best attributes of a plasma then this one's for you. Easy to set up as well. I hard wired the internet connection to avoid any wireless lag time. Even the speakers that come with it aren't too bad. Again i'm not a big TV watcher and went for the highest quality internet ready display for the most affordable price and found it.

For the price, this is a very good buy. The screen is easy to see on bright days. Colors are nice and I don't see any of the blur I hate so much on LCDs. This tv vastly outperforms a sharp Aquos LCD a friend bought just last year for well over $1000 more. Sound volume plays at less than 20 out of 100 without the need for a bar. Netflix is very easy to access (including a dedicated remote button) and the built-in wifi is a feature typically found on much more expensive sets. Even with only 2 HDMI, connectivity isn't a problem (DVD/blu ray or Xbox/PS3 and a cable box), plus component video connections.

In deciding to join the 21st Century, we upgraded our old monster of a tube tv. We had a budget of under $1,000, and this was the tv that best fit our criteria: New & inexpensive. We also considered the next model up (it has 3D technology and a media slot), but decided the added features weren't worth the extra price tag to us. The picture quality is really great. We have over the air programming, so the networks (and PBS) are all in HD. I do really notice it especially with the children's programming - Dinosaur Train looks pretty sharp in HD :) The cons: It really has trouble staying connected to the network (it's a wireless signal). At least twice a week I find myself needing to check the connection before it will register, and once a month or so I have to run the set-up again. Considering it's direct line of sight, and only about 20 feet away from the router, it's kind of ridiculous. I'd really like to deduct 1/2 a star from the rating because of this issue, but I can't. This is one piece of electronics that I found myself needing to read the manual to get the visual settings understood and set. After we set it up, the screen was brightening and dimming. Turns out there's a setting that was turned on causing the tv to react to the ambient light in the room. There are only 2 HDMI ports on the back, but since we only have one piece of equipment that uses it, we're fine. People with newer technology might find themselves disappointed! This is a really great budget choice for a plasma tv.

This TV is a replacement for the earlier Viera 50" model. After 18 months of heavy use, the Plasma exciter circuit in the previous set died. Best Buy stood behind it based on their great (optional) warranty. When they came to repair the TV at my home, they were prompt and polite, and after being unable to repair the old set, replaced it with this new model. The new model has an upgraded plasma unit that is supposed to last over 100,000 hours and be much better. The new set added wireless internet connectivity, and setup and internet access could not have been easier. There is even a Netflix button right on the remote! Picture is fantastic, just like the older set, and sound is improved. The remote and menus are now even easier to use! good job Panansonic! And one last thing, you get unmatched picture quality for the price - just over $700 for a 50" Plasma. Great TV!

I watch a lot of movies and desired the best picture quality. I did a lot of research and read countless reviews. My best advice, just pull the trigger and buy it. The picture quality is amazing! Easy to set up, and problem free. Watching movies is now an experience! The only draw back is input lag. If your a serious gamer and want a great picture I recommend the "S" model. Input lag is minimal and the picture is still really good on the S model. I was also nervous about screen glare, being this is a plasma, but I do not have any trouble. I have never bought an extended warranty but I did this time because Best Buy includes burn in protection. I have total piece of mind now. Awesome product, amazing service and I just highly recommend this tv. Some reviews I read mentioned poor 3d quality but I have not had any problems. We watched avatar and I was blown away. Some scenes left me feeling like I was in the movie while others felt like the movie was touching me. One last side note it comes with 2 pairs of glasses but samsung makes glasses that are compatible for 19.99.

First off, if you're a gamer like me, this TV is for you. Secondly, for everyone else.. this TV is still for you. The picture is absolutely AMAZING. Of course it's 1080P HD, but what separates it from the LED and LCD TVs is the 600hz refresh rate. At this price point, the LED and LCD TVs only have 60 or 120hz refresh rate. In my personal opinion plasma just has a better picture overall, and for plasma you can't beat Panasonic. I used to own a 60" Pioneer Elite plasma that cost over $6k new in 2007, and my new Panasonic S50's picture is just as good if not better, it's half as thick, and weighs over 100lbs less. Throw in lower energy consumption and smart TV features, and it's a no brainer. Buy a PlayStation 4 while you're at it.

This Plasma TV has an amazing picture. It far outperforms any LCD when it comes to motion, in my opinion. This model has limited features (fewer internet connected programs built in, no 3D, no anti-glare coating) and fewer inputs (2 HDMI, 1 composite/RCA, 1 coax) when compared to the next model up (TC-P50ST60), but it is also several hundred dollars cheaper. I have the TV mounted in my living room with windows at 45 degrees to both sides. The only glare I get is if the lamp, directly next to my seat on the couch, is on when the room is dark. Sound quality isn't amazing, but it has a digital optical out to connect to a sound system if needed. It does not, however, have any analog (RCA) outputs for audio, so it may not connect to older sound systems. Overall, I absolutely love this TV. Unless you have a window directly facing your TV, want the 3D, or are an online widget junky, it's not worth the extra $$ to step up to the next model. My previous Panasonic plasma lasted me 6 years and was still in perfect working order when I dropped and cracked it while moving, so long-term quality should not be an issue.

I picked up this TV because the sales guys at Best Buy told me this was the best way to go. "Plasma has the best color", "Plasma has true black", "This is the best TV out there in this price range", etc. While I love the TV, I'm not super happy with the brightness. I have it in my basement living room and I can't seem to get true whites out of it. If I bump up the brightness, the screen gets bleached out. The other major issue is that there is ONLY TWO HDMI connections. I didn't even think to check considering the last flat panel I got 4 years ago came with 8 and I figured this one would have at least 4 or 5. It's impossible to run a home entertainment center with only 2 HDMIs, especially if you have two kids. I have a cable box, xbox, blu-ray player and apple tv. There is a solution, but that requires me to go out and buy an HDMI switch/router. Other than that, this is a pretty awesome TV. Great smart features, colors do look great, easy to set up and use. The price was great for a 50" plasma. Time will tell how much I really do love this TV.

I have owned a Panasonic plasma since 2009 and the unit has been rock-solid to this day (still using it in my man-cave). When I recently bought a house I needed a TV for the living/family room and the first sets I looked at were the Panasonic plasma (S60, ST60, and VT60). The S60 won out because of the price...to get such a beautiful picture, smartTV capability (including WiFI), and the reliability of a Panasonic makes the purchase a no-brainer. Read the myriad of reviews on the internet on the technical abilities of this TV and listen to my recommendation that this TV is everything most everyone would need. You wont be disappointed with this TV - not only in the quality you get but also the price you pay.

I love this TV! I can't believe the value for the price! Other similar size tvs are either way more expensive or are 720p or 60Hz. I could not believe it when I found a 50' 1080p plasma for such a low price! The setup was easy. The picture is great! I love it!

I wanted a TV for the lower level that fit in the space available and furniture configuration. The 50 inch was the right size. I went for the plasma for the color fidelity. This particular Viera TV had the right combination of features and price. I've subsequently added a Panasonic home theater system (connects well although with some quirks). Overall, excellent quality and a pleasure to use. I have a PS3 connected as well so really there isn't much I can't do that I want to. Setup was easy. You have to realize that it takes a few minutes for the network connection to initialize (I was redoing until I checked the support site). Primary use is Netflix which I could use through the PS3 but it works nicely directly. Color setting to Home Theater, looks great to me. Might have done another manufacturer but I read about Panasonic and plasma; not disappointed.

I bought the TV based on price and how others reviewed it. I was a little leery of buying a plasma TV as I've heard horror stories about the heat and it is OLD technology. It set up and configured super easily...not a single issue. I had it connected to the internet in a flash via my wireless AP. Non-HD content is a bit fuzzy. You would think given that it's a 1080 TV, you'd get at least the same quality as my old 780p but not so. The HD shows however are fantastic. My only complaint is that at times, it's way too dark and I have to adjust the TV for what I'm watching. A little bit of an inconvenience but not a deal breaker. All-in-all, I'm very happy (so far) with my purchase.

This is a great TV. It came down to this one and a comparable Samsung. Best buy guy recommend this one and I am glad we went with it. Picture is pretty good with standard def cable and DVD, but amazon with Blu-ray! Didn't know what I was missing with my 720p 26" LCD Samsung! Great TV too, but blown out of the water by this higher caliber set. As for glare on the glass screen, it's not bad as long as a really bright window isn't open across from it. Not really all that noticeable with a lamp on that is not reflected directly off it. (my wife doesn't like watching stuff in total darkness) Great TV. Totally satisfied with it. Shouldn't have waited so long to buy it!
