Sleek Design; Falls Short Here and There Though
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Philips Avance Collection Masticating Juicer Quick Features on the Product MicroMasticating extracts up to 90% of the fruit After juicing all parts can be rinsed clean in 1 minute thanks to its no sieve design Pre-clean function squeezes last drops of juice out Easily detachable and rinsed clean without any kitchen tool Innovative drip stop keeps your counter clean LED lights give you reassembly feedback What's in the box? Philips Avance Collection Masticating Juicer Quick start up guide Inspiring recipe book Setup/Testing/Conclusion Lets first start off with the packaging of the product. The product comes in a standard designed box with well molded protective material to keep the unit from getting damaged during transit. Upon opening the box to reveal the juicer, you will find all the contents I listed above “What’s in the box?”. The juicer itself looks really sleek and I think will look great accompanying your other kitchen tech gadgets if you decide to purchase one. I’ll jump right into assembly. Assembly was pretty straight forward and you don’t necessarily need to reference to the quick start guide. After assembly, I decided to take it all apart again to wash it. The neat feature here is that there's a built in LED light that gives you feedback after you’ve put it back together. Also if you didn’t put it back together correctly; it simply wouldn’t work. The safety feature on this is definitely nice to have. Now let's head right on over to performance and testing/usage. When powering on the juicer with the button located on the top rear of the unit; it was surprisingly not too loud compared to other juicers I have used previously. The first thing we juiced was watermelon. The Philips Avance Collection Masticating Juicer made a decent amount of juice. Personally, the spouse and I didn’t enjoy having to cut the already pre-bought/cut watermelon even smaller so that it would fit the feeder of the juicer. After finishing juicing the watermelon, we used the pre-clean function to make sure we get every last drop of the watermelon juice. We utilized the innovative drop stop which definitely assisted with keeping our counter clean (no drips!). The next 2 things we juiced after were cantaloupe with honeydew and then pineapple. We went through the same process for each and every fruit that we juiced. Personally, the spouse and I felt like it still made a mess even with the innovative drop stop. When juicing, it seems the feeder likes to spit out fruit juice everywhere. Let me say, it's not A LOT; but I could tell you that I definitely felt some hit my body/skin here and there. I even saw some juice residue on the unit itself from splatters/leakage (mainly in the front). After completing our juicing process, we proceeded to the cleaning of the juicer itself. I can first hand tell you that it DOES NOT take 1 minute as it's advertised if you’re cleaning it. The pulp and fruit juice is kinda everywhere once you disassemble the unit. When hand washing the removable parts, let's just say you need to have a sponge with dish soap and hot water to clean this thing thoroughly. It does state that you can use a dishwasher to clean all the disassembled parts; but would you necessarily run the dishwasher just for the juicer? If you do just throw it in the dishwasher, I don’t know if the water pressure is going to actually fully clean it thoroughly if it has a lot of pulp stuck everywhere. We tested the cleaning method of just rinsing it and throwing it in the dishwasher once we had enough accumulated dishes. The result was pretty good (our dishwasher is brand new) although as I mentioned above I still had to hand wash a part of two after the dishwasher because there were stuff still stuck in a couple parts. The main function that the spouse and I enjoyed the most was making almond milk. We were able to run the almonds through 3 times to make a significant amount of almond milk. The end result of the almonds were completely powder as the Philips Avance Collection Masticating Juicer did a great job at that. In conclusion, I feel like the Philips Avanace Collection Masticating Juicer could have some improvements made.Unfortunately do so many cons I experienced with the juicer, I will have to put my rating at 3 out of 5 for this puppy. There were definitely some highlights that I mentioned above but I personally feel the cons outweigh the pros this time. Philips has always made great quality products (I own quite a few) and I enjoy having them in my kitchen. In this specific instance, I wouldn’t be able to confidently recommend this product to a friend.

Very good juicer, Easy to clean
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Packing and Assembly: My Philips Masticating Juicer arrived very carefully packed and each piece was in its own plastic bag. It was all inside a formed egg-crate type container to keep everything safe from any bumps or jarring. I was impressed with how well it was packed. The “Quick start up guide” assembly instructions were slightly confusing. Step 3 did not show which direction to insert the filter basket but there were better assembly images in the back of the “Always here to help you” booklet. Also, Step 4 and Step 5 looked alike to me in the Quick Start Guide (so I thought it was just a different viewpoint of the same step at first,) but I realized that Step 4 was showing how to insert a piece onto the front end and Step 5 was showing how to insert a similarly-shaped piece onto the back end. After that, it was quite easy to assemble. The assembly instructions in the back of the booklet are much more detailed and easier to figure out than the Quick Start Guide. Food Preparation: Regarding the preparation of the fruit for my first use of the machine, I removed the banana peel, the stem of the apple, the stem on the grapes, and the pit of the nectarine. I did not remove the skin from the apple, nectarine or grapes and I did not remove the green leaves from the tops of the strawberries. All of that ended up in the pulp container so it was not necessary to remove it. I also cut up the pieces into sizes that would fit into the feeding tube. Using the Juicer: The machine comes with a pusher to push the food down through the feeding tube. After feeding all of the fruit that I wished to add, I turned off the machine and pressed the pre-clean button to get the last of the juice into the collection container. (The collection container is a quart-sized acrylic container with measurements on the side. The rubber/plastic lid can fit on the container two ways. One way completely seals the container and the other way allows you to use the pour spout with a pulp filter that is built into the lid. ) If you don't wish to use the collection container, you could use any cup, glass, goblet, or bowl as long as it fits under the spout. For my first attempt at juicing with this juicer, I added one each of a banana, nectarine, and apple, plus a large handful of strawberries, a small handful of red grapes, and enough fresh pineapple to bring the amount up to about a quart. All of my fruit was freshly purchased and not yet cold, but we were anxious to taste it, so we all immediately enjoyed a delicious glass of juice. I made another quart using the same recipe and put it in the refrigerator after juicing it and it was even better after it got cold. It was amazing to me to see how dry the parts of skin and pulp were that fell into the pulp container. After seeing the contents of the pulp container, I realized how thoroughly this juicer was working. When you have finished juicing, there is a drip-stop button to push to keep extra drips from falling on the table or counter-top after you remove the collection container. However, the spout of my juicer already had some thick drips waiting to fall so pressing this button wouldn’t have kept the table clean unless I wiped the end of the juicer first. But it does prevent any additional drips from forming. Cleaning: It was very easy to disassemble the parts that needed to be cleaned. After doing that, I rinsed everything to remove the juice and some of the pulp. Even though these parts are dish-washer safe, I hand-washed the pieces with dish soap and laid them on a drying mat to dry. Safety: The instructions tell you to unplug the unit before assembly or disassembly. Also, the unit will not work if the parts are not properly assembled. This was not an issue with me, since it was easy to assemble it properly. Footprint: The juicer is narrow (4.33 inches/11cm) and does not take up too much counter space. Also, because of its narrow size, I could easily fit it in the cabinet space without having to rearrange much.

Till the last drop
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Eating fruit and veggies is healthy and the best way to eat a lot of them is to juice them! Obviously you want to extract as much juice as possible so you are not throwing anything expensive away. This juicer is extremely efficient, it uses a screw kind of like a meat grinder, but screw runs in reverse and pulls pieces toward the center of a unit squeezing them completely dry. All juice runs to the front spout and scraps are collected into the scrap bin underneath the screw assembly. Putting juicer together is very easy, first time it took me couple minutes looking at the picture, but now I can get it done in 30 seconds. Cleanup is easy as well, just take it apart and rinse it with cold water, everything is dishwasher safe as well. The most time consuming part of the whole juice extraction process is preparation of the fruit/veggies. This juicer has a fairly small feed opening - 1 and 3/8" by 1 and 5/8", you really need to chop whatever you want to juice into small pieces. As with any other juicer - you would also need to remove all pits, cores, and skin which is not edible (kiwi or orange skin for example needs to be removed, but apple skin is fine). But once you have gone thru the chopping process - everything else goes very easy. Try not to push pieces down the machine real hard or you may end up splashing the juice all over the countertop. In Short: Pros: easy to put together and cleanup, extracts juice till the last drop (very efficient, scraps are dry), compact machine size. Cons: requires lots of fruit/veggie preparation due to the small feed hole.

THIS IS A FUN TO USE JUICER
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Good Things About This Philips Avance Masticating Juicer The bottom of this Philips juicer has 6 rubber pads to help it sit secure. All of the components of this appliance are made of quality materials, mainly heavy plastics which will last quite a while. The spinning center shaft that crushes the fruits and vegetables is made really well, and the smallest section which does most of the crushing, is made of a heavy duty stainless steel. On the top of this juicer is two buttons, one is the power button which turns the juicer on and off, and the other button reverses the direction of the motor, of which the reverse setting is a way of pre-rinsing the unit and allowing the final amount of juices to flow through. This appliance has a really nice heavy duty latch which holds the masticating shaft assembly into place. The type of plastic which the pulp and juice containers are made out of, is the SANS type of plastic, of which SANS plastic shows better dishwasher wear resistance compared to polycarbonate, which is due to the fact that SANS plastic is more resistant to chemicals in the dishwashing detergent. I tested this juicer the first time on a 5 pound bag of carrots, and it has plenty of power to easily crush the hard fibers of carrots into juice, of which it is best to be patient when juicing harder vegetables, and avoid pressing too hard downward on the appliance. A gentle and slow downward press is best to accomplish juicing carrots which avoids damaging the appliance by applying too much force. This Philips juicer is designed to be thinner than most juicers made by other manufacturers, and this is really nice for kitchens that are limited in countertop space. This Philips juicer has quite a bit of weight to it, which means it has a heavy duty motor on the inside. The process of cleaning the juicer is fairly simply, as the top section can be disassembled and all of the pieces can easily be rinsed clean with water. The anti drip spout is a nice feature, as it does prevent dribbling on the countertop when the juice holding container is not in place. Most juicers do not have an anti drip spout. Other Details About This Philips Avance Masticating Juicer One of the only thing about this appliance which could have been designed better, is that there is a gap that is below the spinning shaft and above the pulp container, this empty space causes the upper section to flex when pressing downward on fruits or vegetables that are being juiced. I added a rectangular shaped plastic spacer to fill this gap, this prevents this flexing of the top section downward. See one of my attached images which shows the plastic spacer that I added. It is always kind of nice when expensive appliance also have a nicer than average power cord to match, which I prefer a nice round power cord. The power cord on this appliance is just average, it is a run of the mill power cord that can be found on most appliances. With that being said, the power cord is sufficient, and the thinness of the power cord does allow it to wind up easier on the lower part of the base. Overall Impression Of This Philips Avance Masticating Juicer This is a well designed and functional masticating juicer, I would suggest this product to a person who has enough time and dedication to regularly juice fruits and vegetables. The juicing process is easy and kind of fun, but is a bit time consuming.

Excellent Home Juice Extractor
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I chose the Philips Avance Collection Masticating Juice Extractor as my two sons go through an incredible amount of store bought juice. While other reviews I'd read online appear to suggest that this juice extractor doesn't get as much juice as the reviewer expected, I haven't found this to be much of an issue. It really depends on the type of fruit you place into the extractor. The juicer comes with a really helpful recipe book and its a lot of fun trying out the recipes in the book but I've also had a lot of fun just making up our own recipes. Simple apple juice was amazing, it tasted like the apple cider we get at apple orchards in the holidays near where we live and yet we can make it at home. Assembling the juicer is easy, just follow the simple steps outlined in the manual and cleaning it is also exceptionally easy. All the removable parts can be placed into the dish washer or washed by hand. Once you have put the juicer together a few times there is no need to keep the instructions nearby, it's easy to put together again. Would definitely recommend this to any family, especially with kids that go through the store bought juice as quickly as ours.

Juiced!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. There are plenty of in-depth reviews so I'll keep it short and sweet for you. It's good but it's not perfect. As others have mentioned, the main gripe is that the entry point for fruit is pretty small, so it takes quite a bit of work compared to bigger/heftier juicers, but the physical footprint space it takes up is a lot smaller. Also, read up on masticating juicers vs centrifugal, as there's a difference in the process that may affect taste and quality. However, it works really well. It juices. If it's in your price point, it's not bad to get among other options, but maybe wait for it to be on sale.

Decent Juicer
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The philips juicer was easy to assemble with the included assembly guide. The quality is very good and feels like it will last a while. It is easy to use as well and the no drip spout works very well. We had a very low yeild on carrots and beet but worked really well with oranges. We did not find it easy to clean as a lot of stuff was left sticking on the mast which had to be completely diss assembled to clean it thoroughly. One of the advantages is the small footprint and the modern looks to fit into any kitchen.

First time juicer
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is the first juicer that I actually owned. My sister is an avid juicer and I figured that might as well give it a shot. From taking this juicer out of the box and assembling it was extremely simple! It took be no less than 5 minutes to get it ready to juice. Compared to my sisters juicer, the Philips needs the produce to be cut into much smaller pieces to go down its chute. It is nicely compact but it is a bit loud (but its to be expected). Very easy to disassemble to clean. I didn't have any issues with a mess or cleaning. The juicer holds up to what Philips says it could do. Good job!

Easy to Use, Clean and Assemble.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This juicer is not only super easy to use, but it is also super easy to clean and reassemble. Two things stood out to me on this unit. It's very quiet while extracting juice, and it has a pretty small footprint for what it does. It's nice that it is black, and it really does do a fantastic job of juicing just about anything you can think of.

Easy to use
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I used it straight out of the box and made celery, apple, tangarine juice. It tasted great and afterwards it was an easy clean up. The appliance is not humongous it is modern sleek and I don't mind it on the countertop. Mid juicing you may have to unclog the part where the unsed fruit goes but it was quick and easy to do. I am happy with my purchase.

Great juice extractor
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Recently purchased this Phillips advance juice masticator. I really like it though a little slower process than my regular juicer. But the flavor in this process is superb and very efficient meaning”most juice is extracted leaving dry pulp”.Best of all it doesn’t take up a lot of counter space. I recommend this product.

Not a bad juicer
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my first juicer. I wish the feeding tube was alot wider b/c i have to cut the fruit/veggies down but other than that i love it. It was tricky at first to get it going b/c if the food container isnt positioned correctly the juicer will not turn on. I had to youtube that.

Easy clean if you are good with cutting
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We have had other juicers and stopped using them because of the total hassle of cleaning. This one is so easy to clean! The trade-off is having to cut your fruits and veggies into pretty small pieces. If it wasn't for that, 5 stars. As is, pretty dang good.

Price Point Way Off
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. From the first time I used this thing, I felt like I had paid too much for it. It does have a nice, attractive, space saving, sleek design, but it’s just ok as far as juicing goes. I don’t like that you have to hold the self cleaning button while it’s working, and it only works for a few seconds before automatically stopping on its own, so if u want to do that longer, you have to keep letting go, pressing and holding again for the few seconds it works until you’re satisfied. It is cute, but I’m mad I waited too long to return it. Definitely not worth $300, it should be half that at best.
