Serious performance at modest price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Before purchasing a pair of these SP-FS52s, I had enjoyed a pair of Pioneer floor standing speakers (with 12" woofers) for 26 years! Finally showing their age, it was time to replace them. I discovered these after some extensive research. Not the least expensive speakers in this class, they're still quite a bargain. First, the description on Best Buy's site doesn't say it, but these are part of the Andrew Jones collection, designed by Pioneer's chief speaker engineer. They feature two 5-1/4" woofers, a 5-1/4" midrange, and a 1" tweeter The rear features two bass ports for a tasty low end. Connections are bare wire to gold plated screws - no banana plugs. Like any good speaker, they should be listened to at moderate volume for several hours (to break them in) before cranking your audio or judging their sound. Those who don't believe in breaking in speakers, have faith and try it. You will definitely notice the difference. I also purchased the matching SW-8MK2 subwoofer and SP-C22 center channel. Two reasons to purchase from Best Buy: You can test them in the store, and the price was right (didn't even need to ask for a price match). Bottom line: amazing sounding speakers for those on a budget, well built, and with Pioneer, you know what you're getting.

Great Sound for the price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am very pleased with the speakers for my home theater system, I had already purchased the SP-C22 center channel speaker and the SW-8MK2 subwoofer, these round out the system very nicely and look good in my living room. It is all powered by my Onyko 770w 7.2 channel receiver.

Great sound for the price!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Pioneer did a great job in designing these value priced speakers. I bought the center channel and a pair of towers to upgrade my modest home theater system. These speakers deliver rich sound at a very affordable price!

Simply Best Buy
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was searching for a set of decent speakers to upgrade my Home Theater system without breaking the bank. I value good quality sound, and I'm not easily impressed, but after reading other buyer's reviews and ratings of these Pioneer speakers, my curiosity aroused. So, I decided to go to my local Best Buy store to listen to them before I took the deep......lo and behold, I was blowned away, the moment they turned them on. The sound quality was awesome! I immediately bought a set, after hooking them up at home, they sound even better and I just can't stop listening to them......clear, crisp sound all the way!

Outstanding sound quality for a small tower
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a must have tower speaker for anyone who wants great sound, is hard of hearing, and/or looking for a great in-home theater sound system. The center speaker made by Pioneer makes the dialogue come alive; I feel like I am standing right in front of the action.

What’s the buzz? Tell me what it’s all about….
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. What’s the buzz? Tell me what it’s all about… ‘cause it ain’t these speakers Andrew Jones took a page from Denon electronics and Pioneer car co-axials to make these not-even-good-first-effort floor-standing speakers. I have been running an audio retail store since 1968 and have sold just about every brand ever made, so, I know my sound. And when I got these Pioneer SP-FS 52 speaker systems that have such rave reviews and the design heritage of Andrew Jones, I expected a lot. I spent weeks breaking them in. And when I tested and listened to them, I wondered, “What’s the buzz?” The sound reminds me of the typical Denon electronic sound: too smooth, but complete – unlike the overall harshness of Harmon Kardon or the gutless sound of Yamaha. And when I did my laboratory testing, I found the design was typical car stereo - the tweeter covers one-third octave and the woofer is forced to unnaturally make up the difference. The sad part is that Pioneer and Andrew Jones came so close to making a phenomenal speaker. I guess he was forced to make compromises to reach a price point – a problem I have found in too many speaker manufacturers that make one great speaker, and then force the designer to make a whole line around it that is full of compromises to reach price points. Hey, Pioneer, let me finish the job that Andrew began. It won’t be that hard. And once I’m through, your customers will say, music is “…what it’s all about. The overall sound is pleasant but not engaging, except in one case. Recordings • CLAIRE MARLO • LET IT GO: Do You Love Me and Let It Go. • THE NOTTING HILLBILLIES, missing … … presumed to having a good time : Your Own Sweet Way and Will You Miss Me • CLARK TERRY, Portraits: PENNIES FROM HEAVEN • ROCKY MOUNTAIN HIGH, JOHN DENVER: Late Winter, Early Spring • Bill Whelen, Riverdance: Real Around the Sun and CAOINEADH CU CHULAINN After listening to these recordings, I realize that the music reproduced by these SP-FS 52 loudspeakers is like listening to live music through that proverbial blanket – boring, but not irritating… except one. CAOINEADH CU CHULAINN was phenomenal because these speakers are primarily a midrange loudspeaker, i.e. a better Bose 901. What these Pioneer speakers will do is increase ticket sales to live performances because they give a taste of music, but only a taste. Equipment used in this review • An acoustically treated room that among other treatments use ASC • Oppo BDP-83 CD player • Rogue Audio Titan Magnus Metis Preamplifier, modified • Parasound Halo A-23 power amp • Transparent Audio PowerLink AC power cord • Transparent Audio The Link RCA Interconnects • Kimber Kable 4TC speaker wire, modified • DRM Stage II SW Reference Loudspeaker system

Great Speakers
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.4 Stars because of Best Buy, not because of the speakers. Don't like how they try to trick someone into thinking this was for 2 speakers. Make sure you read the title. This is for 1 speaker only.

Giant speakers just don't deliver
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought these and took them back. They're just too big for the lack of sound they produced. I was using a Denon Receiver outputting quite a bit of juice, but either it wasn't enough or these were just mediocre.
