    I wanted a add-on to my new iMac that now doesn't have a built in DVD/CD device. It works fine with 1 usb 3 end connected (no need for the 2nd usb 2 power side) Not as fast as i hoped for, but a sleek package. My go-to DVD/CD is a 5 yr old external HP 5.25" usb 2 unit that is 50-100% faster in real life, though the specs say they are very similar.

    This blu-ray player rewriter is very light weight and portable with multiple formats to rewrite and play back blu-ray.Don’t for get to download the usb-driver from pioneer website,so you can use the player on your USB ports.You have to use 2 USB ports to make it work.After you download the driver then the player becomes plug and play.

    Does the job. The double USB port requirement can be problematic but hey I guess laser products need extra juice. This really isn't a con but if you buy this just note that all bluray drives including internal drives write pretty slow. I had to clear and archive quite a bit of data from an old laptop and don't trust permanent storage to a USB stick or an external hard disk.
