Customers are saying

Customers are positive about the Elite 1665W's sound quality, ease of use, and powerful performance, with many praising its ability to handle various audio formats like Dolby Atmos and 4K video. However, some customers expressed concerns regarding the receiver's heat generation and the design of the remote control. The high price point was also cited as a potential drawback by a few users. Overall, the positive feedback on audio performance and ease of setup outweighs the negative comments.

I purchased his receiver from an Open Box marked Excellent. It was anything but. It was scraped on the front and the front cover door had a broken hinge on the right side so the cover drops on the side. It had minor scratches on it. It IS NOT EXCELLENT condition. Also, I opened it the day after it could be returned. Lesson learned if you buy online immediately open to inspect. It was not what I expected and would have returned it. Do not buy online. Buy something like this in the store. I am disappointed Best Buy would try to sale this as excellent. Just not right.

Replaced our 4 year old failed Yamaha RX-A receiver hoping for better long term reliability with Pioneer Elite. The setup was easy. Has all the HDMI connectivity we needed and plenty of power for our 5.1 layout. The MCACC Pro Auto Room Tuning worked nicely though tweaked it a bit manually after a week of testing. It works perfectly with our Harmony universal controller. Amp design runs cooler than the Yamaha did. The Sabre DAC handles our HD audio perfectly & having the front panel USB is helpful for playing music files off a thumb drive. Features we don't use (yet) for streaming, upscaling 4K and Dolby atmosphere are there for the future. So far, we're very happy. Just not 5 stars because of the price point, especially since they're selling the 801 for the same price now. If only I'd waited a month. Grrrrrrrrrrrr.....

Use this as a pre amp. Sound quality is good. Upgraded from a previous model. Watts rating is over inflated. Not true watts per channel. Will be going to a dedicated pre amp in the near future. Room correction works great. Dolby Atmos is awesome. Main reason I purchased this.

Delivers enough power and clarity to immerse a 15 x 20 room full of clean sound as a 5.1 system. Haven't had the opportunity to test the Dolby Atmos since I don't have true Dolby Atmos speakers yet so cannot comment on that. Setup is fairly straight forward and simple if you wish to use the MCACC or you can also easily set up the audio profile to your liking if you're an audiophile. I chose to use the MCACC and then tweaked it a little afterwards. A slew of connectivity options means you will won't run out of input ports. Like any AV receiver, the unit does get extremely warm so make sure to allow enough airspace for natural convection to occur, or you can purchase a cooler / blower to extract the heat.

My Yamaha receiver had a channel die on it and as it was almost 10 years old I opted to buy a new unit. I would have replaced it with another Yamaha unit but I have a Pioneer Elite Kuros flat screen TV which I love and have had ZERO problems with, I decided to try the Pioneer Elite receiver. The price and overall unit functions between the Yamaha and Pioneer recievers were almost identical. I think the major difference between this Pioneer unit and my old Yamaha unit if the new Pioneer unit is HD so the sound and video is much improved! I also like the built in wifi. I have updated the firmware and can stream directly through this unit. The Pioneer SC LX701 is not cheap, but I believe you get what you pay for. My only complaint right now is Pioneer says it was simplifying the remote. Yes, there are not as many function buttons on the remote. In fact, there doesn't seem to be enough! You will have to have a video display to navigate through the functions. In time, I may like this feature, but I am not accustomed to this.

This model was available on closeout from 2017(!). It's nearly identical to the newer SC-LX704 once firmware updates are applied, with Play-Fi, AirPlay 2, Chromecast, and Works with Sonos, among its supported wireless streaming ecosystems. It has 9 channels expandable to 11, with MCACC Pro room correction. Maybe it can't match up to Audyssey XT32, but it has manual correction, so you can take your own measurements and tweak them. A nice feature of a higher-end AVR. Heat is not an issue with the Class D amps, and it plays louder than other AVRs I've tried, not that I want to shake the house. About the only thing missing is eARC, which I don't need, since I use the receiver as the hub.

Was using a Denon x4100w before the HDMI inputs went out. Luckily I had Best Buy's protection plan as it allowed me to upgrade to this beast. I tried out a Pioneer before this item, but was completely underwhelmed by all aspects of sound and customization. This Yamaha though, has exceeded my expectations. Thought I would miss Denon's xt32 sound adjustment, but Yamaha's is pretty good too. This Yamaha receiver feels really well built too. Sounds great for movies and music. Highly recommend!

First let me start by saying, over the years we have had receivers of all brands. We had a Pioneer many years ago and for whatever reason we went with other brands after. Boy am I glad to be back with Pioneer! This particular receiver is one of the best we have had. It's not only easy to use and learn but very efficient in how it works. The display is very nice and the option to have multiple zones of sound is a nice bonus. We have very high ceilings and this receiver has done well in eliminating the echo. I would highly recommend this receiver to anyone I met. I know the price might be a little on the high side but it is absolutely worth it.

I bought this to upgrade my existing Pioneer Elite. Before I did. I did purchase a Marantz. The Marantz does not come close to the power this Pioneer Elite it puts out. I feel the Marantz is at least 5db lower then the Pioneer Elite when set to the same Db on both brands. Also I feel the picture and sound quality comes out a lot clearer and crisper on the Pioneer Elite Vs the Marantz in its class. Also, I you can't beat the Class D Amplifier by Pioneer Elite. OMG! All around a solid receiver with Dolby Atmos to boot but that's if you have Dolby Atmos Speakers and movies to experience that true theatre sound like I do. Dolby Atmos is AWESOME! Pioneer Elite you never fail to amaze me. You had me at, Hello!

I waited for a few months to verify that my initial happiness would continue. I am running 9.2 full atmos in my media room with the top of the line Epson projector. The sound is fantastic and easily adjustable. I have 3 cons: 1. I have found is if you are using wireless connection to the Epson projector you are not able to use the onscreen display to configure the sound on the receiver. 2. The app is garbage. You would think for 1000.00 that you would be able to connect to the receiver and configure. NOPE 3. You can not easily add the 2nd sub. It is not intuitive and the receiver once you have it enable does use it but it still reports 7.1 sound.

I bought a new TV and wanted to replace my old Pioneer Elite VSX-53 to be able to pass the 4K UHD signal. This receiver does not disappoint. I also wanted a receiver to run 3 Zones with out the need for an additional amplifier. This Elite does everything I wanted and more. For being such a beast, it does not run too warm at all compared to my previous Elite. I have been very happy overall.

Bought this unit replace a an aging unit. You will need to hook up hdmi to do initial setup. Sound is very robust, way better than my old unit. Played some dsd music through usb, sounded great. Bluetooth works really well, quick to pick up my phone. Airplay is a little slow. Haven't setup atmos so I can't review atmos features. Overall, I'm loving this unit.

This is my 2nd Pioneer Elite receiver. I needed more juice and I decided to upgrade. Love all the features , having difficulty getting to work two zones independently. My SC 05 was easier to operate both zones. With that said no regrets with this purchase. Now I get movie theater sound.

I have an SC-55 which is a predecessor to this one. I think I overheated it at one point and loss the Pandora option to play through the app. (I now have 5 temperature controlled fans on it) I had it installed in a simple 5.1 set up with 2 zones outside (two speakers each). At some point I began having issues with the sound in the house. Fought it for a year and decided to get a replacement. Bought the new unit and it seemed a little better (wishful thinking). Long story short, my Definitive Tech center channel wasn't working. I decided to keep the new one and love it. They've added bluetooth which allows the easy connection of Amazon Alexa and they have a new app which gives you a lot more control. You can now run any input on any zone now. All controlled with the app. I haven't figured out how to get more volume out of the 2nd and 3rd zone but it's not a big deal.
