I was skeptical of PVZ because it was an online multilayer game only but this is has been a good experience each time. The developers did a great job combining the characters into the game play. Not only that but they promise free DLC through out the year. A must buy for any age group.

I bought the xbox one version since it was the version that had offline multiplayer. I play the game with my 7 yr old son, and feel the game play is great for introducing him to first person shooters (well, really 3rd person) game play. It introduced him to cooperative game play, where each persons strengths make up the team and no one person can survive alone (I stressed the importance of getting your team mate up if they happen to get knocked down before doing anything else if possible). The game play is not too fast, but can get a little crazy the further you go. The characters are fun and the fact you can unlock characters and items via booster packs is cool. Overall, a fun game for young and old alike.

Picked up this game when it was on sale for $30 and haven't regretted it for a second. I love the visual style with the Plants vs Zombies aesthetic. Cartoony but not kiddy. Warning: if you love the old Plants vs Zombies tower defense games on mobile/PC, this is a completely different type of game. But if you're into online shooters, I think you'll really love this. The game has a few different modes: Garden Ops (a co-operative, wave-based mode where you and 3 other players try to protect a garden against waves of computer-controlled opponents), Team Vanquish (team deathmatch), Gardens and Graveyards (a territory-control style mode where a team of plants tries to protect a garden from a team of zombies. If the zombies capture the garden, the plants fall back to protect another garden. This goes on until the zombies destroy a final objective OR the plants defend a garden long enough for a timer to go off), and Gnome Bomb (a mode I haven't gotten around to playing yet but I hear is fun).
Playing these modes earns you in-game currency (coins), which you can use to buy card packs (kind of like baseball cards, where you don't know what's in it but you have a guarantee that each pack of a certain grade contains x number of this type of thing and at least y number of this type of thing). Opening packs earns you new characters and ways to customize your characters. There are SO many things to unlock, the game will keep you working towards things for a long time.
Oh, and did I mention that all the DLC for this game is free? That means that you and your buddies will ALWAYS have all the DLC for it, unlike how it works in most other online games (Call of Duty, Battlefield, etc) where if your friends buy new maps but you don't have them, you can't play together.
Highly recommended!

My 6-year-old son asked for this game and earned it via various odd jobs over the course of several weeks. I figured this was something that he'd play while I stuck to my more "grown-up" games like Titanfall or COD: Ghosts. Let me say that I was wrong - it is an enjoyable and engagement game for us both! My son would give it a 5, but there are a few details that compel me to downgrade it to a 4.
The pros: This is a fun and slightly addicting game that incorporates the light-heartedness of PvZ with the action of a shooter game. Controls aren't perfect, but definitely passable, and the "death" animations are comical. The ability to "unlock" new characters and equipment make for great replayability and there are several different game modes to keep things interesting (from standard TDM or castle defense to the funny "gnome bomb" mode). I tend to "mute all" when playing, but conversations aren't anything like the flame wars sometimes heard on a CoD server - it's generally pretty laid back. If you are a kid, the level of play is good - every once in a while, someone will dominate but overall skill levels are fairly low.
The cons: The downsides, while present, do not overly detract significantly from the overall experience. The character balance is decent, but certain characters outperform in most situations, while others are somewhat lackluster. The lack of an offline game mode is my biggest complaint, especially as the game ages and there are fewer players to fill up the games. I'm not sure how playable it will be a few months down the line as the popularity wanes. The character selection UI is average, especially with regards to seeing what upgrades do for you without having to go to the "sticker book". Fine for kids, but maybe nor for min/max oriented minds.
All in all, a surprisingly refreshing game that is compelling for younger and older gamers alike. If you are a hardcore lover of shooter games, it may not be your cup of tea, but for the casual or family gamers, it is a fun diversion.

Im a fan of PvZ so I already I knew I was gonna pick this up when it was first announced but I didnt expcet it to be this fun and well polished. All the characters you cna play are balanced pretty well and there is a good variety of characters to pick from. Its only $40 too, cant beat that price for a next gen game! The only thing bad I would say is the lack of maps. There is only like 6 maps or so I think. All in all though this is a great game at a great price and it should be on everyones list to pick up for the Xbox One.

This is a pretty fun game. It would be a good game for kids that want to play a first person shooter, but their parents don't want them to play CoD or something more adult; this fills a great niche in the gaming world.
It's fun for adults too. I was a little unsure about it at first, but a month and a half into owning it, I'm still playing everyday.
My only complaint is that it's an EA game, so you have to create a profile on their stupid server system for some reason. Great game otherwise though.

From what I've read and seen, this looks like a fun game. I have not had the chance to play this game yet, but I bought this game based on previews and others reviews. If this game is as good as other people say it is, then when I get the chance to play the game, it should be fun. Also at this point, I would recommend this game to anybody based on what I've read from other reviews and from previews I've seen of the game.

This is a multi-player game that doesn't have a "campaign mode" so you'll need an Internet connection to play. Otherwise, it's fun and easy to play, with several unique characters, most you'll be familiar with if you've played "Plant vs. Zombies" before.

My 5 year old son and I absolutely love this game BUT we cannot both play together on love and it says on the game that you can play up to for players online co op and yet it won’t let us. That was very disappointed. The main reason we upgraded to the Xbox one version was because we expected to be able to play online together.

This game is very simple, but also very fun. I highly recommend this to anyone who is just starting out with the Xbox One and wants to learn how to use the controller.
My girlfriend is NOT a gamer at all and has played this game on the Xbox more than I have played.
The multiplayer content is fun. The graphics are okay. The game runs smooth. I only wish it had more statistics about the games played.

The previous version of Plants v Zombies 2 was a fun game that even I , a 50 something adult could play (version 2, that is) on the Playstation and Android systems. Addictive, even. My preteen and teenage boys can actually play this game together unlike the majority of games available for the XBox One. Unforunately for me, this version is completely unlike the relatively simple to play previous versions. Would be nice if they offered a downloadable version with this game, but the boys like it.

This is basically any sandbox battle game like Halo but with cute plants and zombies. It is fun for a while but gets monotonous after a while without a story mode. There are people online at a very high level so for the first 50 hours of online play it will be take 3 steps, get killed, respawn, and repeat.
