The performance change is obvious. the usual pauses on boot up are noticeably briefer than with an old - style drive.

Installed this drive on an three year old HP 2000, 8GB RAM, AMD Radeon HD 6310 Graphics. Utilized drive cloning utility and received SMART error which was cleared upon auto installation of drivers and a reboot. Instead of performance issues due to HDD R/W performance SSD performance now allows me to max my CPU usage; Overall laptop is faster due to data transfer rates but still has its limitations.

I remember when I thought..Hmmm SSD.. sounds so good, but the price! It will be a long time before I can test drive one of those, and then.. they became more cost effective than I could dream and I wouldnt turn back, Noticeable speed from the moment you boot, and now at a price we can all afford and so many cloning softwares for free its a breeze to tap your old drive and load it all to the new ssd. I have three of these in three separate home builds. so far they have been dependable, and have made a singificant speed difference.

New Life for an Older Laptop

I purchased this SSD to replace the boot hard drive for an older laptop. While the capacity is smaller (240 vs 320), this is not intended as a gaming machine. The laptop has a second drive bay available for future expansions should I need it. Also, while not the fastest or largest SSD out there, it was a good price/performance match for this upgrade task. Installation of the SSD was easy. It was recognized by the system without issues and the OS installer disk (8.1) was able to locate the drive for a 'clean' setup and installation. The laptop now boots much faster than with the older HDD. Ready for work!

Replacing your boot drive with an SSD is one of the best upgrades you can do for your system, whether in a desktop or a laptop. So instead of dual-booting the primary drive in my desktop between Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 Technical Preview, I decided to add this SSD in as an additional drive, and install Win10TP. Install was dead easy, since it was going into a desktop -- make sure you either have a bay for a laptop-sized drive or an adapter bracket. The drive itself is pretty slim, so it included a spacer for installation in a laptop, just in case. The performance is fantastic, and it made me wish I'd switched to an SSD a long time ago. This drive may not be among the highest rated, but it's a good value, anyway.

I bought this for my grandson when the regular hard drive in his laptop started to malfunction just weeks before completing his freshman year in college. Replacing the old hard drive with a Sold State Hard Drive meant settling for less storage (240 GB as opposed to 640 GB) in exchange for a far more reliable hard drive--one which will not crash if someone drops a book or bounces a basket ball on the keyboard (both of which apparently contributed to the malfunction of his old hard drive). The price was excellent for a 240 GB SSHD, and my grandson doesn't feel he needs more storage than that. So far the SSHD has been working just as we expected it to; and we're very pleased with this purchase.

Reviewing the PNY - CS1100 240GB Receiving fast as advertised speeds with this. Replacing a Toshiba Q Series Pro 128Gb with this one. Not as fast as the Toshiba on paper but in real world usage I cannot tell the difference. Awesome deal purchased during a 4 hour sale for 1/2 the cost of the Toshiba 128Gb ssd. I am using this as my boot ssd and have also put Origin games on it. Loads game fast. No lag during multiplayer. This unit has been replaced with a new version but I don't believe the new version is any different. Even box is the same.

I was a little hesitant to buy a PNY SSD as I usually only purchase Intels or Samsungs, but the price was so great that I took the gamble. This drive performs every bit as well as the Intels and Samsungs and was a fraction of the price. I've been running Windows 10 on this PNY drive for about a month now and have NOT had any problems with BSOD's, the drive not be recognized, or slowing down. I do a lot of SSD upgrades for people and for my general use person, this drive has become my new standard.

Hi, this PNY solid state drive is reliable, easy to install, and most importantly; this thing is lightning fast. I purchased this SSD as an upgrade for my desktop PC and the boost in speed is pretty noticeable. Now for example, my computer boots up in less than 20 seconds; plus all files, programs, apps, and videos run smoothly. Very impressed with this SSD. Don't hesitate, take the leap, and be speed-happy. Totally recommend it. Thanks for reading.

I bought this SSD for an older laptop that I also purchased at BestBuy. It was just what it needed. It starts up and shuts down instantly now. speeded up opening and closing all programs. At $74 it was a cheap tune up for a mid grade Toshiba laptop. have bought a 2nd one since then for my daughters mac. Its worth every penny for the speed you get. I recommend doing a memory upgrade as well. If your going to open it up, Change or upgrade both.

I got this too replace the system HDD in my ROG laptop, for my most played games and the OS. It's great. It also comes with a spacer so it'll fit any laptop hard drive bay. I went from a minute and a half boot time to four seconds. Most people don't have any need for a faster SSD than this guy or more storage than 240gb, and it's really tough to beat the price on this guy.

I used this for the main drive on a compact computer I put together with a low end Intel processor and Ubuntu Linux for browsing, ordinary productivity tasks and video. It has performed very well. I haven't benchmarked it's performance but it boots in seconds, I've had no problems with installing OS or software & everything loads very fast. I think the 240 GB will be fine for my usage. I'm quite satisfied since it performs well and was inexpensive.

Installed quick and migrated my OS to it in a snap. There are other "faster" drives but this drive is overall a good value of both speed and capacity for the price. I also got it on sale so it was an even better deal. Would recommend two for desktop on raid-0 or media center for OS and speed dependent programs (Antivirus ext) with a high capacity mechanical drive for raw storage. May be slightly small for every day laptop use for the average user.

It's very good fop the price. If you can get below 25c per GB it is very good. Not the fastest drive, but more reliable than older PNY budget series. Still around 5x times faster feel than on regular HDD. While it does not crush Crucial or Sammy in benchmarks most people will not notice the difference.

I installed this on my Gf's Macbook Pro circa 2009 and it is a game changer. I was considering trading in or selling the Macbook and decided just to try this out. Once the SSD was set up for mac and the OS installed and rebooted several times it is like a totally different computer. This particular brand seems to work best for Macbooks, I tried the Sandisk SSD previously but could not enable TRIM. The Sandisk is a great SSD it is just not Macbook compatible as far as I can see , just like RAM may or may not work in Macbooks. After the SSD was installed the total space available is about 212GB after the OS and the memory reserved for the management of the SSD itself. Over all amazing speed gains for an aging computer and the applications open pretty quickly now.

I usually buy the Samsung Pro SSDs when I'm purchasing them for work, but when I was looking in the store, there were no Samsung SSDs. Disappointed, I grabbed this SSD, since it was on sale at the time, and decided to give it a go. It's working as expected. Boot time and shutdown time were dramatically improved. I didn't benchmark this drive, nor do I do much data-intensive work on my computer. I mainly bought this after I upgraded to Windows 10 after thinking that maybe my 7-year-old hard drive in my Dell desktop was on it's way out. It didn't fix the problems I was having, but like I said, boot times were noticeably faster. For the price, you can't go wrong.

Not the best of the SSD in term of performance but for the price and its use as an upgrade to older computers for parents or children, it is an easy and practical choice. Will always beat traditional hard drive in terms of speed but not for capacity/price.
