Good Entry Level - For Smaller Space Only

This is a good speaker for a smaller room and maybe entry level quality. It is only 100W, so does play well for the output rated power. Returned this and replaced with 12" 400W, which fit our space better.

    Polk sub

Initially it was a great sub, not overly loud like some and not so quiet that could not feel it compliment my infinity pc363 towers and pc351 center channel. But then after a couple of weeks I'm getting distortion coming through the sub regardless if an audio source is hooked into the rca line in or not. Thought was possibly a bad grounding situation and bought an adapter with a grounding plug did not slovenly it and changed out my rca and still produces a static hum, next step is taking it back to bestbuy

Lots of port noise with volume

Not a bad little sub. I've paired it with Polk T50 towers and a T30 center. Music sounds good. Anything with a discrete sub channel (movies), the sub tends to have lots of port noise with any decent volume setting. I don't have it in a super large room, but am considering adding a second, identical subwoofer to get the sound output I desire without having to crank the gain on the sub, which results in the port noise.

    It's a PSW10, just in another color.

The PSW10 isn't a bad subwoofer on it's own, but they made the piano black variant that costs more. There are a few gripes that I've learned about this unit online that I put some work into keeping this thing around so I can get my money's worth. I prefer the color over the other, but if you are okay with any other color, feel free to save a few bucks and get the exact same woofer. First of all, at beyond 70% volume, there's a ton of port noise and baffling for frequencies below 50hz. There are a few fixes for this such as moving the amp+woofer into another box, or removing the metal diffuser from behind the port (involving unscrewing and pulling the amplifier out, then unscrewing it and pulling it and the glue off) but even then it doesn't fully stop the baffling/port noise. So I raised the crossover to 100hz so that way it has more room to shine without any distortion and I leave it at about 60% volume. After those small gripes.... It actually sounds good! Really good! The thump is enough to shake the floor and wall around, the woofer seriously rocks around and it even has the ability to passthrough power to bookshelf speakers on the back. The problem being... that the woofer just moves way too much air for the port to handle. Not necessarily a bad thing if you think about the componentry, but the price I paid which was nearly $70 more than the base PSW10 in grey, makes it kind of sad that it doesn't hit super low without that noise.

    avg sub

The sub was on sale and Polk has a good rep so I bought it. While it gives decent punch, it really doesn't contribute much to the sound. For instance, if you like bass drums but not bass guitars, this sub is for you. If you want your walls to rattle from the sub and get highs from the other speakers, this sub's for you. If you want everything in between and the punch, buy something else. I have a Klipsch in the other room that I bought last black friday for the same price as this polk and it sounds great.

    Good but Not Great

I purchased this subwoofer to go with my Klipsch speakers and a 5.1 surround system. It is a good subwoofer but lacked some of that deep bass punch I was looking for. It handled the volumes I pushed but I wanted something a little more. I also wanted a complete matching set. Overall it was much better than my previous Onkyo sub that came as a home theater set but was my interim sub until I found the Klipsch 10" on sale again to complete my set.

This sub woofer has a good sound and adjustments are good as well, however; it is a bit large in comparison to others out there. I bought this to replace another wired woofer that had failed and it is a good replacement.

This sub is working well in my theater room. The only hiccup has been when used with opening war sequence of Saving Private Ryan. Bass response sounded almost like a blown speaker. All other movies/music/shows have sounded fine and no further "blown" sound.

Nice, clean sub. Almost exactly the same as my last sub, just two inches larger (making a fairly large difference). Love shaking my neighbors walls....

It does the job. If you want real subwoofer sound you need to spend more money...but it is adequate and you can hear it and it's easy to use.

Not the right product for an old 2004 plasma TV. I don't think the product was bad; My TV is old and didn't have the right connection slots or cables.

This was for my first home theater system. Hard to beat the sound quality for the price. Buzzes when the recurve is turned off so I have to get up and manually turn off the woofer every time. Then I have to remember to manually turn it on when I want it on. I wish there was a way around this. If it didn't buzz I'd give it 4 or 5 stars

We bought this subwoofer as an extra for the multimedia system in our bedroom. We compared it to our Fluance subwoofer and did multiple tests, of course it didn’t quite match up or exceed the Fluance, but considering the price we bought it for, it’s pretty good.

I bought this thinking my klipsch sub stopped working. Once I realized it was still working i returned the polk. There was a big difference between the 2. If you have the money go with klipsch but on a tight budget polk will due.

Bought it to compliment my Definitive Audio outdoor speakers. Yes, Im using it outdoors for bass fill in. Works very well for this application but had to build a box to protect it from sun and rain. Works as advertised.
