I was totally clueless about what to get very happy

My old suction cup mount was wearing out and not always staying on the windshield on very hot days. The friction mount is better, holds the GPS lower, obstructing less of the view, and transfers easily to rental cars when I travel.

Has a slight sticky bottom. Holds good on rough surfaces. Doesn't slide off the dashboard on quick turns. Easy to remove without leaving residue.

This replacement Garmin Nuvi holder is quite big and bulky and doesn't really "stick" to the dashboard but rather holds the Nuvi and keeps it from sliding around. It could do the same if it was smaller in size and heavier. As my old windshield suction mount broke, this was the only replacement immediately available and does the job just fine.

I didn't want to use the window suction mount and have the hassles of it falling off, damaging my sunshade and obstructing the shade replacement. In AZ the sun/heat/UV rays destroy anything on or near the window & dash. After reading other reviews on here I decided to purchase this mount since I could store it quickly in the center console my truck, which would protect it & not announce to thieves that I had a GPS. I would highly recommend this mount as it is super fast and easy to mount or remove on your dash and the GPS goes on & comes off easily. The mount has never shifted or fallen, easy to adjust for viewing and closer than a window mount with the option of moving it elsewhere easily or allowing a passenger to grab it without having to disconnect anything. Very happy with this product.

My Garmin GPS came with with the windshield suction cup that only holds for about 15 minutes before falling off. This is why I purchased the friction mount that conforms to whatever surface available on the dashboard. It works great, and I now have a reliable mount to hold the GPS for viewing. It is pricey, and Garmin should provide a more reliable mounting device with the purchase of a portable GPS unit. Apparently the reason Garmin sells the friction mounting device is because the one sold with the GPS device doesn't work.

Works really well. Does not move while driving or turning

The mount is wonderful, owever the Garmin is almost too big for the carrying case. I wish it had a little more space , i'm afraid it might scratch the screen putting it in the case.

Bought this for a long vacation trip where I expected to be taking my GPS out of view frequently and didn't want to mess with a suction mount. This mount made it easy to slip the GPS off the dashboard when leaving the car, and it stayed in place perfectly over the entire trip on a sloping dashboard. Mostly highway/city driving -- not much off-road -- but didn't budge even over rough areas. I placed it in or on a plastic bag when not in use, because the friction material on the back has sort of a gooey feel to it and I didn't want it sticking to other things. I was also worried about it collecting dirt and debris, but didn't have this problem. I don't know if this was necessary but seems like it needs to be kept clean on the bottom. It's a weird material, but worked very well. The product base looks like thick rubber, but actually is flexible and somewhat moldable (think Gumby) to help it fit the contours of the dashboard. This also came with a free slip case for a 5" GPS, which makes it a great deal if you happen to own one!

Great mount for the dashboard. In California you cannot legally use a suction cup mount on the front windshield so this is a good option. The universal mount "ball" mount will use will all Garmin GPS units. The only disappointing thing is the GPS case that comes with this bundle is too small and does not fit my GPS. I wished Garmin would ship all their GPS units with cases to prevent scratching of the screens during transport.

I purchased this ahead of a cross country/Rt 66 road trip. The mount was placed on the dash in a little nook between the steering wheel and radio console in my Jeep. It was perfect for keeping the GPS in place during the entire drive except during a couple of off-road (gravel, dirt, and sand covered roads) detours. The GPS stayed firmly in the mount on the rough terrain, but the mount itself bounced around so much I had to take it off the dash. Great mount otherwise. Highly recommend.

I have owned one of these for years and bought this one for my father-in-law. I don't like my GPS mounted on my windshield and after he saw this one, neither did he. He likes how easy it is to move and adjust.

This mount works great on regular dash boards, however, it does not work very well with small dash boards like ones in jeep wranglers.

I bought a new Garmin with 7" screen and it barely fits in this holder. It is a solid heavier base so it will not slip when you make turns or take corners. It works with any car I rent, and I rent different cars weekly. Easy removal of your unit from this base with a push of a button, so it is out of view when your car is parked for business calls, or if you are shopping.

I pruchased to relapse the standard frication mount from gar mine - its adjustable head is a great plus the only negative is a little large footprint on the base

Fits on the flat portion of my dashboard & stays put. I wonder if with time the bottom might become slick, since I remove it after each usage.

I purchased this mount along with the Nuvi and what a great combination! Stays in place without any issues. Really like the fact that it is not attached to the windshield.

This dashboard mount works perfectly with my Garmin nuvi 3597LMTHD. It is ultimately adjustable when putting it in any of my vehicles, and when I am not driving it wraps up in a tight, little bundle that protects the screen in the felt lined case and fits easily in my bags or console for storage. And no suction cup rings on my windshield to alert thieves.
