I never thought I'd end up being so interested in geography, but in this game, every tree, every river, every mountain interests me. Unlike a standard game where there's one linear path to defeat the big bad, there is no linear path in this game (other than the very beginning).
That said, I spent four hours just picking apples from trees. Then another two hours chopping wood. Then I realized there was a bad guy I had to beat and decided I'd have to cook my meals some other time.
If you're into the open-ended exploration do whatever you want, this game is for you.
TLDR; Game good. Waste lots of time picking apples.

There’s not much to say about this game since it speaks by itself. I thought Ocarina of Time was the best Zelda and still think it is despite the popular opinion, and the reason for it is because OoT had a much more memorable and varied soundtrack. Breath of The Wild might not have such thing, but it compensates with the story, graphics, gameplay, and everything else.

Good games are popular at the time they're released, but then the hype dies in about a month.
Great games last longer because of better story or more online options to let people interact, but in about a year once again it's hype dies down and is only remembered by a small crowd.
The best games never lose their replayability and last for generations as amazing games. THIS is an AMAZING GAME! Enough to give skyrim a run for its money, and then some! Nintendo, kudos to you. I was worried about your future, but based on this game combined with the great console the switch is, you have turned your luck around.
Bravo!

I have really enjoyed the time I have logged so far in the game. It was my main reason for purchasing a Switch (That and the rumor of a Pokemon Port) I have played most all of the Zelda games to date and this reminds me of all my fantastic Hyrule adventures. I have already explored what seems like a massive area and a lot of quests and side quests and I feel like I have only scratched the surface. Enjoyable and smooth gameplay, lots of things to discover and try, and a fantastic open world experience so far. Being able to switch play from the TV to the tablet has proven to something I do far more than I thought I would.

Wow! This is one of the best games I have ever played. I've owned nearly every Legend of Zelda game made. I am very much a fan of the games, lore and characters. This game combines the love of the LoZ storytelling and the open world of Skyrim/Fallout to create a game like no other. There are so many things to do. I got this game at launch and I have barely scratched the surface of the main story. I've been too busy getting distracted, finding treasures, and doing side quests. Highly recommend this.

I love this game. I just bought my son a switch earlier this month and saw a review for this game and had to have it. I've put in so many hours on it and it never gets boring. My son, who is six, is also obsessed. It's so well done and I can tell will be replay-friendly for years to come. The game is an amazing open-world game with a great story and fun characters. One of the best games I've played in recent years.

Anything you think of, there is a way to do it in this game. The open world amplifies the enjoyment of exploration previous zeldas offered to an entirely new level. The graphics are beautiful, the physics fit in very well with the world, the enemies are fun and the story is fantastic. How the developers went about using dungeons in this game is creative and unique, with the smaller rooms of a typical dungeon being scattered across 120 shrines, and pivotal elements to the story being used as the main dungeons. Im continuously blown away by this game every time I play it. Do yourself a favor and pick it up if you haven't.

I have been waiting for years to play this game and after all of that time it still did not disappoint! This is fun to play. Completely new but also nostalgicly familiar. It's set up in a way that's good for those who have spent lots of time with these games or even for beginners like my boyfriend who have never played before! You can get lost exploring, cooking, creating, etc. around the world and sometimes completely forgetting about the main quests. I would recommend this game to anyone!

We are really enjoying this game! The story line is fun, the adventures and side quests keep us occupied! The graphics are a lot of fun and have details we can all appreciate. The difficulty levels as you advance are reasonable and keep you going back for more game time. The characters are fun and the extras hidden around are really worth the hunt. One of my favorite things is the cooking. I don't know why, but it keeps me entertained! It's even fun to watch if you're not playing. I would definitely recommend this game.

In my opinion, this is the best Switch game out there. You can do whatever you want whenever you want and are never forced to continue the story. Want to collect and cook a ton on food? Go for it! Want to power through defeating the divine beats and Ganon? Go be that hero. Want to collect every treasure from every shrine? Yes you can do that too. Hundreds of hours of play that slowly and casually reaches you how to play without being annoying about it. I haven’t played a lot of Zelda before and yet this game came naturally to me because of its great design.

Best open world game made yet, the polish is great, plays amazingly well in tablet and TV mode (with some fps drops on tv but only in certain areas).
Nintendo's own clever spin in what is otherwise a saturated genre (open world action adventure) that knows when to be goofy and serious.
Its very open to many people's play styles but I do warn any 100%ers that its gonna be tedious to uncover all the collectables/heart&stamina containers without any guides.
I've put over 75 hours into this game so far and am only 75% done with the main story/easy to access shrines. Haven't even gone to Hyrule Castle yet!

THIS GAME IS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! THE COLORS, GRAPHICS, STORY, GAME-PLAY, OPEN WORLD, EVERYTHING. THE NINTENDO SWITCH GOES PERFECTLY WITH THIS GAME. WELL DONE NINTENDO!

Breath of the Wild is a massive world that suffers from being just a bit too empty at times. Like other open worlds (Skyrim, Dragon Age: INQ, Assassin's Creed) there is a massive amount of land to traverse, and a basket full of side activities to do...but they are scattered throughout a very open landscape that could have used more additions.
The controls take some getting used to, and the run sprint/jump buttons are switchable from the options menu, which is great, but I would have liked to see more customization in that regard.
The biggest problem with BotW is its dated, absolutely counter-fun inventory and weapon system. Your limited inventory is used to hold weapons/shields/bows that seem to break every time you sneeze, and the inventory is only expanded by finding hidden creatures. So if you don't have fun hunting down every single little thing, you'll hate this system even more. It's nice to see a variety of weapons to use (boomerangs, two handed swords, spears, swords, wands) but it is a horrible feeling to get a really awesome weapon and have it break, or have to save it for eternity for a really tough battle just to get the most use out of it.
Ultimately, that is BotW biggest problem. It changed things that didn't need to be changed just for the sake of changing it. The old inventory/weapon system is better, and this new one made an otherwise amazing game significantly worse. Still a fun, albeit frustrating, experience worth playing.

The game is very open and for Zelda, it feels weird, it's very hard at first but before long you get the mechanics down, it turns into the best Zelda game ever.

I'm loving this game so much. It has given me such a sense of wonder as I explore more. I can't wait to fully discover the land of Hyrule and learn more of the story.

This game is beautiful, entertaining, and perfectly balances story/combat/exploration. It's got the feel of an original LoZ game without the structure of an LoZ game.

I have played most of the games in the Zelda franchise, with my favorite being Link to the Past and Ocarina of Time.
I pretty much bought a Switch just for this game. Have probably put at least 50 hours into the game, but I haven't gotten bored yet.
Exploration is the best part of the game. I haven't been interested in exploring big maps since Guild Wars 2. The difficulty was a bit rough at first, but after getting used to the controls and building up an arsenal of upgrades I can take on anything in the game.
Overall it is definetly worth playing and likely game of the year material.
