Customers are pleased with the superior graphics, fun stealth gameplay, and engaging storyline of Thief. Many also enjoyed the side missions and immersive atmosphere, although some found the controls challenging and the map somewhat confusing. this game has awesome graphics and realistic combat and i like the fact that you can sneak around and knock out your opponents . The way you defeat your opponents affects your rewards so that is another thing i liked about it

This game is good if you like to explore with a little combat.
The Character is in 1st person and can only see the arms in low profile.
For a Next Gen game, I would have expected better graphics.

Thief is a good game. I've played others in series. Like the others, this game puts you on a narrow road. It is a very scripted game...just keep following the carrot. This game does add some side missions though which is OK. All around, it is a good game, but it can be very tough at times trying to figure out how to get to where you're going without getting caught. If you get caught, you're most likely going to get killed.

For those needing a fix of stealth gameplay, Thief fits the bill. It's a blast to sneak around and steal valuable items. Underwhelming story is a let down, but the mechanics of the game are excellent. The combat is tough, but it's intended to be: you're a thief, not a warrior

TL;DR- Fun, comes short in a few areas, maybe wait til price drop/get it used.
Thief is definitely a fun game, I feel awesome sneaking around The City, finding my way into all of the different places and feeding Garrett's kleptomania. The different arrows are cool to use, like the choke arrow, water arrow, and plain ol regular ones. The lockpicking is actually quick and simple, and doesn't feel annoying when you're trying to do it quickly while a guard patrols around you.
That said, it seems like they forgot to put in some things. Garrett is supposed to be a master thief, trained in acrobatics and parkour, but it's really easy to fall off of things. I understand that makes sense logically, but it's one of those things that makes a video game different than reality. A masterful thief wouldn't accidently take a step left when walking on a thin walkway. Me aiming just slightly left and straight rather than completely straight shouldn't make me drop on the guards I'm trying to avoid. This becomes prevalent when you use your little duck and dive move to quickly shift between places of darkness, aim it poorly and you go flying off a building to your death. Also, you can only climb on certain things, even when it looks like you can clearly climb up/jump to something right next to you. They mark things you can climb with little marks like white paint or the grate you can use your claw on, but two boxes stacked should be easy to climb for a trained parkour artist like Garret, but you can't. Another small complaint is the voice acting, particularly with Garrett, it's not done very well, he just sounds lame and over-dramatic.

Decent "filler" for when the good ones come out...

My PS3 bit the dust in January, 2015. I desperately wanted a PS4, but wasn't interested in the games that were out at the time. I originally saw reviews for Thief and almost purchased my PS4 based on my initial thoughts before the game came out, but didn't. (I ended up waiting until Destiny came out - that's a whole different review...) Thief is not a horrible game - in fact, it's awesome. As indicated in the Review Summary, it's the perfect "filler" for the in-between times when the triple A's are released. Truth be told, I'm incredibly glad I did NOT pay the full $60 for this one - picked it up on sale for $15 here a few months back, at Best Buy. For the $15, it's a great buy!

Thief is a solid game for the PS4. It has a good level of variety in the way you can play out the missions. Some are linear but others are more free roam. The camera sometimes "gets in the way." It is a first person perspective game so if you're not comfortable with it, then this game may not be your cup of tea. The map is a little hard to get used to and the characters are a little lifeless in comparison to other games.
I have enjoyed the game so far, but I would recommend that you want to buy it on sale like I did. 60 is too much, but 30-40 is about right.

This is a good stealth game for a good price. You sneak around, pick pockets, do a few takedowns, interesting story with a few twists and shock moments...I describe this as like the predator rooms in the Batman Arkham series. I'm not a huge video gamer, and I think it gets mixed reviews, but I'm enjoying it! Try the demo on PSN first - that's what I did!

Although the game has some bugs and a weak story, it is a nice and welcome variety to the still young PS4 lineup. The game has great atmosphere and better yet, if you are a fan of stealth and sneaking style games this will be a rewarding gaming experience. I am not sure why the game has gotten slammed by some critics and gaming sites at times. While not a stud game, or AAA title, it is a very good game that is held back from that greatness by a few flaws. I would give this game between a 7.5 and an 8 out of 10. This scoring system on Best Buy doesnt offer a 3.75, but thats where I would rate it here.

The game is almost like a puzzle game, if its played the way its meant to be played, stealth. This game won't appeal to people who like to just run in and mow down everything that moves.

Stealth is King

Thief is first and foremost a Stealth game. If you don't like sneaking around or hiding in the shadows, you may find the combat to be clunky and unsatisfying. Going toe-to-toe with enemies is not nearly as fun as sneaking up behind them and knocking them unconscious. Stealth is king in this game and if you're patient, stick to the shadows and hunger for loot, this game will absolutely satisfy your thieving ways. There is a new "swoop" mechanic which lets you move quickly in any direction with a downward swooping dash. This is executed with the press of a button to help you sneak and move past guards or retreat after you've pick pocketed someone. You can also climb and interact with areas as you traverse the city and levels, giving you different options of approach.
The game looks incredible and the first person perspective really adds to the immersion. There's no multiplayer in the traditional sense but there is a leader board if you're a high score gamer who wants to "steal" the top spot. There are many settings and features you can turn on or off to customize the way the game plays to suite your needs. Completionists will enjoy the replay ability of this game, searching out every piece of loot they missed, or going back to complete a challenge they failed during their initial play through.
Pick this game up if you're a Stealth fan. You won't be disappointed!

I played the old Thief games on PC back in the day and I have to say this game is awesome! The new abilities like focus make it so anyone can play this game even if they aren't familiar with stealth games. On next gen consoles it especially looks more detailed you really appreciate the performance of the console. Overall Thief is a great game whether it be on last or next gen consoles and I hope we see more of Thief in the future.

It's not the best stealth game I've ever played, but it's good for what it is. If you enjoy games with a strong emphasis on stealth, give Thief a try.

Overall game is above average. Is not an open world game, need to follow defined pathways to reach objectives. That is really the biggest downside to the game. Sometimes is difficult to determine how to reach a particular objective. Storyline is good enough to keep your attention. Game play itself is good. Missions seem to increase in difficulty as you progress through the game.

I've been a fan of the Thief series since its inception. Seeing it return on the next-gen systems was very exciting for me. Unfortunately the game is a little too repetitive. The story is decently written however it isn't anything too revolutionary. I liked the varied arrow choice however the coolest arrows are definitely over priced.
If you can find a used copy I would recommend picking it up. If you're into stealth games you should enjoy this title.

Don't believe all the reviews about this game. This game isn't that bad, if you are run and gun gamer this isn't for you. The graphics are beautiful and game runs smooth. The combat fighting is pretty bad, if you can avoid fighting then avoid. The mission you can take multiple routes to finish. This is stealth game, if like stealth game I would give it a try.
