Super simple to install. Marked the wires/zone from the old controller. Three screws to put on the wall. Reset the wires. Use the app to first connect to the controller, connect the controller to the internet (using wifi - router is in a back room, not close to the garage). Run through the setup and now control everything from the app. You can control the basics manually if needed.

The only thing that was annoying is the molded clip on the cover broke off so I have to use zip tie to hold it on

Very easy to install and use. I’m female and needed no help with setup. Just be sure to label wires! I love being able to control sprinkler system from phone, so much easier when u need to check the sprinkler heads and such, no more running back to garage to turn separate zones on. Only downside is not being able to manually set a schedule to water, if WiFi ever goes out. I haven’t had a problem, but I like “backup plans” in general.

I was skeptical that I could replace my old sprinkler controller by myself. But literally in less than 15 minutes I had all 10 wires connected and the app set-up without a glitch. And just two months in we are already saving water and money. Excellent product!

This irrigation system is extremely intelligent and i have seen great water savings. Just wish i would have been able to get a rebate, but my area wasn’t on the list. The CS is very helpful as well. Super easy to install!

I bought the Rachio 2nd generation 16 zone system since it was on sale and installed it while my wife was away since I like gadgets and home automation.
For years, my wife has kept track of our lawn irrigation system and turned it off and on as needed based on the weather or how the yard looked. Although she was skeptical of the Rachio's utility, she travels more now and the lawn was not looking as good under my supervision.
The Rachio has won my wife over since we don't have to worry about any manual adjustments now and our yard looks much better by getting only the needed amount of watering. The automatic rain skips have been quite useful and any desired manual override is easy from the either the website (used by my wife) or the iPhone app (used by myself). However, we only tested this feature to be familiar with this option since we haven't needed to perform any manual adjustments since I installed the Rachio.
The Rachio's ability to allow renaming of our zones from the numbers 1 to 7 that only my wife had memorized to names that made sense based on location has been great. Adding pictures of our lawn to the app / website is a nice touch and very easy with the iPhone app.
The physical installation in our garage as a replacement for our 10 year old semi-automatic system that had a dial and push buttons was easy. Although our copper wire was at the upper size limit for the Rachio, the connections went smoothly.
Despite the fact that I have the Netgear Orbi mesh WiFi system that uses a single SSID for all access points and both the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands, the Rachio connected without difficulty on the second attempt. Since my iPhone connects on the 5 GHz band and the 2nd generation Rachio can only use the 2.4 GHz band, the WiFi connection was only successful after a restart of the device and software.
I have now been using the Rachio for about a month and our lawn looks great even without my wife's constant vigilance.

I have been using this product for a month now and this is a great product. Easy to set up, very reliable, connects with wifi well (router in family room and Rachio in garage), I was on vacation few weeks and this worked like a champ every time and i was able to check progress, adjust runs, monitor progress all on my smartphone. Web interface is very handy when you have patchy cell signal. I get a feel that i am saving water-energy.. I would recommend this product. "save the planet"

I've had a professional-level Rainbird irrigation system for my home for many years (7 zones). Nest had a promo email and I learned about the Rachio system. After some research, it met all my needs -- easily transfer all the wiring directly from the Rainbird to the Rachio and remote access.
Setup an account, connect to your WiFi network and you are almost done. Just setup your zones for soil type and vegetation. Select a weather station, and the default flexible schedule will work fine as a start. Monitor and control from the iPhone app.
It will only irrigate when needed and optimizes for each zone. Automatically adjusts for weather conditions from the nearest weather station. You can even tell it to use your personal weather station data.
The advanced features allow you to adjust moisture depth/depletion target, slope, sunlight, zone square footage, and custom scheduling.
Unit was even small enough to place inside the Rainbird enclosure.
Great design and works as advertised!

Much better than our traditional sprinkler system. My wife and I installed this with help of our irrigation guy. Apparently best buy geek squad is not licenced to install this on the irrigation system so you need to get a third part to put it up but after it's replaced best buy did say that they can come and link it up with Alexa which I did it myself, it was easy to do with online video. Regardless now that we have this installed I absolutely love it. It is much better than out traditional sprinkler system, it save us a lot of water and grass looks much better that it get watered when it needs it based on the weather.

This controller is so great and easy to use. I love using my phone to turn on individual valves and make sure every thing is running good and there are no broken sprinklers or that the spray head moved and its not spraying on the grass. I don’t have to be running back to the valve box to turn on valves individually.

Aside from trouble getting my home WIFI router to broadcast signal out to the garage through thick walls which degraded signal, the installation process was straight-forward and easy to manage with a little electrical wiring know how. I now use my Rachio everyday and enjoy tinkering with the watering schedule based on weather conditions, and saving money on water bills.

Replaced my old controller with the Rachio 2nd generation 16 zone smart controller. Installation was straight forward and took less than an hour. I also did not install my current rain/freeze sensor since I setup Rachio to my Personal Weather Station (PWS).
It is so much easier to mange my 14 watering zones, I spent the time to setup custom spray heads and set watering times to flexible. I like that I can use my PWS to monitor rainfall and Rachio takes the rainfall into account when watering.
Not sure if I am saving water, I had to tweak the system because I thought it was going to water too much in the beginning. After tweaking the settings, I am not using any more water that with my previous controller and I can see how many gallons I theoritcally saved.
I like the features of controlling from my phone, the reporting between the phone app and web page need some work as some features do not sync, Rachio is aware and working on changes. Speaking of Rachio Service Desk, they were easy to get a hold of and was helpful in tweaking my settings in the beginning, so I would not over water.
I have had the Rachio controller now for 2 months and very pleased with the system and its features.

Great product. Does exactly as advertised. Took less than 20 minutes to install and have up and running. Took longer to find the instructions on how to pair it with echo then it did to actually pair it with echo.
Have made a few calls to support. Not for any glitches or installation problems but just to find out how to accomplish something. My only issue is the operating manual was not written as user friendly as the instruction manual.

I have 11 zones, 3 are drip. Last year I paid $750 to water the yard. I have had the system installed about a month. My usage to date is running about 50% less than last year. In the past they yard always over watered. Since installing the system I have had no over watering issues.
The install was very easy, programing was also easy, tech support is always there and ready to help.
How it controls the watering is amazing. Not only does it communicate with the local weather stations it also waters in cycles reducing my runoff to zero.
All this is communicated by email and the history is kept in your account.
Major improvement over my Hunter Pro C system.

I've had the Rachio 16 zone, 2nd generation Smart Sprinkler Controller for a few weeks now. It is working as advertised and I am a happy customer so far.
My needs were simple. I wanted to be able to turn-on any sprinkler on any specific zone manually from time-to-time in addition to having the regular weekly schedule, and I also wanted to know that the sprinklers came-on when they were supposed to as scheduled.
I was also hoping to be able to clearly label every station in the app so I don't always have to look for my cheat sheet when I was working in the backyard.
Well, Rachio does all that and many other things and so far has done a great job. I like the reports and notifications, and I like being able to manually turn any of the stations on from any where.
Physical installation of Rachio was super easy. It took me longer to remove the old controller and document all the stations! Getting the app configured and scheduling all the stations was also super easy. The recommendations on the length of time to water each station needed changes as the app was suggesting very long duration for some stations, and not enough for others. But that is probably because I did not pick the exact right type of soil, plant, sprinkler type, etc. So most likely not the fault of the app.
Next step is to add a few rain sensors and maybe some day when we actually get rain in California will know if they work! :-)

The Rachio is an awesome sprinkler controller that eliminates all the hassle from updating your watering cycles for different seasons, new plants, etc.. The module is very easy to install (I'd recommend getting the outdoor enclosure so you can install it in the same location as the old controller) and it couldn't be any easier to setup basic watering schedules. For more advanced gardeners (not me), the schedules can be customized and fine tuned to account for types of nozzles, different soils, amount of sun and more. Definitely glad I purchased it and have recommended it to one of my neighbors that stopped by while I was installing it.

The setup was quite easy and the connection to my cell phone (for the app) and into my home wireless network worked without an issue. The signal out to the garage for my wifi is marginal but it picked up right away. App is very straight forward. You can run it manually (without the app) but it is very basic without the use of the app.

I had to return my first unit due to a terminal wire connector button getting jammed. You are suppose to use a screw driver to push the button to allow you to insert and remove wires. I did so and 1 button got jammed. I put in the wrong wire and could not remove it. I had to cut the wire off. Best Buy took the return. I got a new unit w/o any hassle and was able to complete install and get sprinklers going and hooked it up to my google assistance in less than 30 minutes.
It’s really smart. It’ll give you a good estimate of how long you need to water your yard. It suppose to not water if it rains as it gathers local weather info. I only had this for 2 days and so far it’s pretty cool.

I have automated quite a few things in my house and the sprinkler system only seemed natural. My previous rainbird had a moisture monitor and that wasn't working as well as I would like and needed something that would prevent sprinklers going off in the rain. The weather settings are easy to control and it watches the weather as well.
As far as ease of use, there was a clear cut difference being able to visually set the schedule and determine different watering times based upon soil, type of grade, and grass.
Overall I have been using it about 6 weeks and couldn't be happier.

Forget dials, switched, scrolling through endless menus on older controllers. 10 minute install and simple to schedule watering schedules. So easy to change, pause, add anything to your schedule. Very intuitive app that makes things for any user level
