Customers are pleased with the fun gameplay, compelling story, and terrifying atmosphere of Resident Evil 7: Biohazard. Many enjoyed the return to survival horror elements and the first-person perspective, although some found the limited ammo and difficulty challenging. Positive feedback also highlighted the game's sound design and immersive atmosphere. However, a few players expressed concerns about the enemy variety and the game's price point.

I love the whole line of RE games. But this one takes it to a whole new level!!! Papa is ONE seriously scary dude, friggin about had CA when he came through first wall. Love the character switch. Best of all is the seamless flow between P and GP, it was hard to tell when game took over or returned control. Overall Best game in a long time!!!!

I like the game in first person now. I'm a RE veteran and the game still made me jump a few times. I wish there we more enemy variety. I played it non stop on normal then easy in around a week. The story works well and looks like the DLC will keep me playing for a few more months. The horror was worth it and didnt mind buying the DLC ahead of time. The game may be expensive for casual fans being a single player story.

A Return to Form for the 'Resident Evil' series

To anyone who thinks that "Resident Evil VII: Biohazard" would be a cheap rip-off of "Outlast" or even trying to replicate the success of "P.T" or so, Capcom was working on development of this entry years before the runaway success of the previous mentioned game / demo, and it stands on its own in true form. I have a few pros and cons worth noting on this game, but quick capsule review is fans of survival horror should definitely pick this game up. Pros: The game goes back to basics of exploring a mysterious estate and compel the player to be quick on their feet with deciding when to fight and when to run away. The game also scales back (in a good, big way) on the whole global anti-terrorism action that the Resident Evil series was starting to become more and more known for following the success of "Resident Evil 4." I say this was a nice feature because it makes you feel in a more realistic setting in a way, rather than playing as professional government agents armed with devastating weaponry and hardcore fighting skills. The story is genius in its simplicity with titular character Ethan coming to the Baker Plantation to find his wife long thought to be dead. The main antagonists, the Bakers, are also terrifying in their mannerisms and actions - and they are definitely more than meets the eye. What I was also pleasantly surprised at was how the Bakers are also sympathetic and some may even consider it tragic. Weapons in this game aren't too varied but that adds to the realism. Instead of being able to equip rocket launchers and bio-chemical weapons, it's back to simple guns and even homemade weapons that can be completely missable if you don't put the effort in finding and creating them. Ammo and health is also scarce and crafting becomes a necessity which can take up your very limited inventory space and makes you weigh out what the most important things to carry with you are. The fear is also very real: there are a few cheap jump scares (although they do work when they are done, so I do give credit where it is due), but the atmosphere is something that must be commended as even walking the long hallways of the main estate, the dilapidated old house, or the wide open yard make you feel as though anything could pop up at anytime. As I said before, if you enjoy survival horror and have longed to see Resident Evil show that they still know how to create an an intense horror game, this is a must buy. For those looking for a real challenge, there is a mode called 'madhouse', and it more than lives up to the name! Cons: Here's where replay value can be affected - the game is actually fairly short in the scope of open-world games. While I will say that this is by far not an open-world game (I almost thought it would be, given that it looked like it would be a giant mansion with other outer areas to explore beyond the main home), after replaying it about three times now I can see how familiarity can make it seem smaller when going through it again. Apart from the Bakers, there are only TWO main other repeating enemy types and I can see why people will not like that; there are also no zombies and it almost seems like a zombie-less (or other infected human type virus) game doesn't really deserve to be in the same series of RE. With the exception of the very, very end and one other completely missable newspaper, they never even allude to anything from the franchise. It's also worth mentioning that the end can also be a bit of a head scratcher. I still enjoyed it but if your thoughts dwell heavily on it it does seem a little strange. I will admit now that I didn't play "Resident Evil 6", so I may have missed some storylines if they were meant to bleed over into RE7. As I said in the positives, a lot of the global anti-terrorism elements were scaled back, but they definitely not removed completely. I think the game is broken up into two main parts - I won't spoil anything but I will say that up until you make an important decision is where the game's second half begins (in my opinion), and I think the second half is where the story begins to creep back up in that territory of trying a little hard with bio-terror elements. It doesn't go off the rails and it does explain everything that was going on in the first half but it still seems somewhat outrageous. While the cons don't seem to be that much, I know some of these are important to some people. There is also one last thing I wanted to mention regarding the main set of antagonists, but out of respect for people who are deciding on buying the game I'll hold off so as not to spoil anything. Great game, especially if you've been a fan of the franchise since the first one and have stuck with Capcom throughout. Survival horror is back and it is definitely worth all the hype.

Like many longtime gamers, the Resident Evil series is near and dear to their hearts. I’ve played the entire series, and some of the installments, many times over. However, the installments since Resident Evil 4 (the best in the series), have lost the “it” factor that made the series unique. Resident Evil 5 moved more action based, and Part 6 was all action, that the series lost the horror element. Not Resident Evil 7. This game changes the formula to a first person based game, but goes back to the tense, ammo scarce, horror game that the series was – yet adds new elements to the game. This game takes influences from western and eastern horror genres, and melds them into a intriguing, and immersive, story. Looking at the game you ask, is this a Resident Evil game in title only? The answer is no – but be aware that this is in the same universe as you come to expect. Graphics: Breathtaking 9/10 The graphics are make you look twice – anyone fans of found film movies, or even the torture film genre, will find the visuals in this game well done. Take some time to watch to look at the detail of the environment. Little touches in lighting, leaves, pictures, and shadows really take this game up a notch. If playing in 4k/HDR, this looks as if you are playing a VHS video, and the environments look real and full. Sound: Amazing – 9.5/10 The sounds, music, effects, and voices take you immediately into the game and you can get lost into it. Surround sound / headphones are a must so you can hear the uttering, chanting, and footsteps in this fun house of a game. The sounds are enough to make you yell out loud. Gameplay: Spectacular – 9/10 Smooth animations, smart A.I., brilliant level design, and different possibilities for battles make this game fun. Easy puzzles, especially for this series, is the one thing that is a knock against this game. Younger gamers may not think so, but those familiar with the series will see that this is extremely easy. Overall, the gameplay is different from the past, and in a good way. The first person perspective is a refreshing change of pace – and the dialogue / story is well thought out. Replay Value – Amazing 9.5/10 Even without multiplayer, this game has high replay value. You get to choose your own path, make your own choices, all which affect the outcome of the game. The game will take you anywhere from 12 to 16 hours to complete, but you will want to do it again. Overall – Near Perfect 9.5/10 I am a fan of First-Person-Shooters (FPS) and all that is associated with them. This is a FPS technically, but it is so much more. It takes a tired, lost Resident Evil series, and breathes new life into it. It may be FPS, but it is survival horror and scavenging that the roots of this series introduced 20 years ago. The story details and ideas that went in this game prove that the mix of Western horror and Eastern horror can mix in story telling – There are a few quirks in this game, but it was fun. Resident Evil 7 is labeled as a survival horror first person shooter, but it is so much more. It takes a tired series and made a game that I am recommending to everyone. It was such a surprise – that I have not felt this way about a game in years. It has elements taken from past RE games, such puzzles, jump scares, scavenging, and action-adventure, and brings it to the now – not a tired old Umbrella story. Spending time with this game, it is apparent that Capcom wanted to create a statement, also to create a cinematic game, and different experience in a game – one not felt in a Resident Evil game before. RE7 took a chance to be different, and it worked. This game is gorgeous, involved, and deep - and it is not the same experience for everyone. The experience and horror is different for each user, which just shows you how much time and thought went into this game. With this much depth, it is hard to compare it to something else out right now, and you can’t. It is the perfect January release – for when game releases slow, the lull of winter sets in, and the year is just starting. Typically, when I play a game that I truly enjoy, I have a wow moment – maybe two. This game made me do that several different times. Maybe they weren’t WOW moments - more like OH SH$# moments. This game is definitely worth checking out, and I hope that it does not get lost in the with an early spring release, but for 2017, it is already in my GAMES OF THE YEAR list.

Since RE4 is my favorite game of all time, I kept waiting for an entry in the series that would match the caliber of that game. RE5 and RE6 were both letdowns, so expectations were extremely high for this one. Let's just say that it does not disappoint, and not only is it beautiful graphically (in a scare-your-pants-off way) but the gameplay is geniunely first person Resident Evil. You would just have to play it to see, but once you start exploring the house, you'll realize why this is a Resident Evil game. The story is outstanding, the best since RE4 and the originals. And it truly is horrifying, the villains especially. I just can't say enough about how great it is. Try it in VR if you truly want an experience that can't be missed! But don't do it alone, I'm warning you, unless you are a fan of heart attacks!

Absolutely amazing game that takes resident evil back to the original horror from the first game. Ethan's story will keep you captivated for the whole game. This is a must have. Do not forget to get part 8 and the resident evil remakes as well.

Riding on the coattails of the discontinued Silent Hill: PT, Resident Evil 7 completely flips the script on previous titles by putting you in a tense and very visceral first person perspective. All you know going in is your girlfriend has been missing for years only to send you a message wanting you to come find her in a very remote and seemingly abandoned location. Thus begins a fight for survival against one of the most twisted families ever conceived in a video-game. To say the game is scary would be a severe understatement, there have been far too many times something would happen while playing that would uneven me to the point that I'd have to pause to take a breather. The tension and atmosphere are incredible and even after multiple playthroughs it never truly dissipates. You always feel on edge, never truly safe. And you aren't. The difficulty is definitely a step up from previous titles and the puzzles harken back to the original Resident Evil. All in all I couldn't be happier with the latest entry in the series and with a healthy amount of dlc available already there's more than enough content to keep me playing for quite some time. Good job Capcom, I look forward to what's in store for this series.

A fresh reboot of a game that I enjoyed playing growing up. Some nice jump scares, limited ammo, and that feeling of anxiety as you anticipate what is creeping around the corner. I am a quarter of the way through this game and am having a blast playing it. I highly recommend this one!

Resident Evil 6 caught a lot of flack from people and they must have listened to feedback and gone a completely different direction with the game. This game is a first person game that returns to the survival horror roots of Resdient Evil. There is a limited amount of ammo and a limited amount of enemies. Since you feel that ammo is precious you treat it like it is with every shot you take, with the exception of any boss fights as they are all bullet sponges like in most every RE game. So something that I have loved about a number of the newer resident evil games (4,5,6 (don't hate) and 7) is that they have a New Game + that makes the game fun to play over and over again. I loved my first time through the game and I played it on Easy, which gives you a few things that make it easier to make it through the higher difficulties. Beating those can unlock you even better items and so on. It's a great game, very gory, and a story you can actually somewhat understand, which I don't think is something the series is known for.
