Not dissatisfied with this movie. It has all the energy and surprise that Riddick offers. Great beasts and as usual the Meeks do not know to whom they are messing with.

Riddick, a sequel to The Chronicles of Riddick, takes place some time after that film with Riddick getting "fat", as fat as a buff Vin Diesel can be, and complacent. The necromongers are conspiring to oust Riddick as their leader by dangling the carrot of his homeworld "Furia" in front of him. After being betrayed and left for dead on a planet call, well "not Furia" Riddick must regain his animal side with the first 30 dedicated to a long form montage of him learning the land and fighting some monsters. Later Riddick finds a Merc station and hit's the emergency button to call someone to get him off the plant. The remainder of the movie is a cat-and-mouse game between Riddick and the mercs in an attempt to steal on of their ships to get off the planet before an impending storm, which will bring with it blood thirsty "mud" monsters, (It's actually less stupid than is sounds). This movie is clearly made for the fans, in fact Vin even mortgaged his house to finance the film, don't worry he turned a profit, and actually Universal wants him to make another. A good film worth a buy for fans of the franchise, even if it is somewhat forgetable.

Riddick picks up after the Chronicles of Riddick, which tried really hard to be "epic" and only partly succeeded. This story quickly relocates our hero from the throne back to being abandoned on a planet to die with bad guy bounty hunters looking for him, so fortunately the "epic" nature has been thrown out (good riddance!) The movie is really more of a rehash of Pitch Black, which is good and bad -- good, because Pitch Black was actually a really good movie, and bad, because, well, I've seen this movie already. Weird planet has once-in-a-while special weather that herald the coming of monstrous creatures. Riddick must survive and get off planet. Much blood and stalking of bad guys ensues. Sound familiar? Yeah, exactly. Aside from bad language, bloody violence, there's a gratuitous scene of Starbuck's boobs. But doubtful you'd be letting your 10-year-old watch this anyway.

Ever since Pitch Black, I have loved watching the evolution of Riddick through the three movies. You see his raw, animal side at the start and then the slow adaptation to his surroundings to meet his needs. In this installment, we see Riddick go back to that side and decide to stay that way. It's a good fit for his character and even though we still see his character grow. The only difference is he grows more towards that raw side of himself. We see his his possible last break of companionship with the introduction of the animal sidekick. The plot is a little weak at the start but it helps tie everything together across the three movies. His personal development is what feels like the focus of this movie which will lead to his search for his home in the coming follow up(s) I assume. Overall, this is the Riddick I want to see more of.

Riddick continues the story of the Riddick Saga, picking up right where Chronicles of Riddick (CoR) left off. While it takes a sharp turn from where CoR left off, and returning to a much smaller story, its still a great movie. If you liked Pitch Black, you will certainly like this movie, as the two are very similar. I've read reviews that say you'll be confused if you havnt watched the first two movies, but I dont think thats true. There are certainly characters you will not know AS in depth as other people who have seen the other movies, but as a stand alone movie, I see no reason why it cant be enjoyed. If you liked the other Riddick movies, you should love this one as well. And on its own, its a good fun scifi flick.

The story goes that Universal declined to do another Riddick film until Vin Diesel agreed to do another 'Fast and Furious' film in return. It was the best deal he ever made. As the superhuman antihero Riddick, Diesel totally dominates the film, which is full to the brim with testosterone, thanks to competing bands of mercenaries out to bring Riddick back dead not alive. Director David Twohy returns as director, creating a stark landscape that is easily as unforgettable as the one he created for Pitch Black. Here's hoping a fourth installment will prove equally successful.

This blu-ray is a must have for any Riddick fan. Don't settle for the theatrical release. The directors cut answers some questions about what happened between the Chronicles of Riddick and this movie that the theatrical version has edited out. This particular set has blu-ray, dvd, and digital download and is the best value for your money. Anyone who loved the original Riddick film, Pitch Black, will love this movie. It does have a very similar plot theme to the original Pitch Black: they're on an alien planet where everything wants to kill them and they must escape. But it has enough originality to be different, and still has all the things that we came to love about Riddick in the first movie. Sci-fi fans will also enjoy the performance by Katee Sackhoff (the new Battlestar Galactica's Starbuck) as well as the fantastic performances from the other actors, including one of which who will make you dislike his character so much that you will look forward to his demise (bravo Jordi Mollà!). That's all I can say without posting any spoilers!

After Pitch Black and The Chronicles of Riddick, both of which I enjoyed a lot, this 3rd film turns out to be pretty satisfying. Not the best of the bunch, but somewhere in between the other 2. Not as much of an overcomplicated plot as "Chronicles", though it does explore that storyline a bit more before focusing on a more straightforward action/hunter and hunted premise. Vin Diesel is really definitive as the title character, deep growl of a voice and more action than talk. There's enough confrontation with both alien creatures and mercenaries to keep the movie interesting. Good visuals, perfect for Blu-ray, even if not as eye-popping as "Chronicles". Overall, good for sci-fi/action buffs.

Riddick is a return to the feel of the "Pitch Black" origins of the franchise. It has the darker, gritter alone feeling that "Chronicles of Riddick" seemed to lack due to the Necromonger plot line. However the downside is that the movie barely deals with the ending of "Chronicles of Riddick." They talk a little bit about Riddick's title and leadership with Vacco (Karl Urban's character), have a short sequence with Riddick going to a planet that he is told is Furia, being betrayed and then the movie moves on. There's no closure to the events at the end of Chronicles. All in all though, a good, fun romp.

This is a genuinely good movie, it follows on from the previous Riddick movies and doesn't leave anything to be desired. Richard B Riddick is up to his old tricks again, and if you're a fan, you won't be disappointed, definitely a must see. Vin Diesel is great as always, playing a character that never ceases to enthral me, and the rest of the cast is great too. You know a movie is good when it makes you watch the previous movies when you get home from seeing it. The music is also exceptional I found too, fitting in very well with the action scenes. I've always found Riddick to be a movie that is very rich in its universe, it pulls you in without really telling you much, and this movie does exactly the same, worth a watch even if you're not a fan.

This "update" to the series left off where the last movie ended, which was good. It was short on how Vin got left for dead and then the group moves on with out him. I like that he built a relationship with a dog basically, and how the dog kept loyal to him. When the bounty hunters show up it was difficult at first to find the motive for one of the leaders to want info on the past, but you get to slowly put that together. In the end, it was a typical Vin Diesel fight and win with the aliens and the bad guys, so you should expect that. It leaves it open to a next one if they want to.

I am a big fan of both Pitch Black and Chronicles of Riddick. So it should come as no surprise that I was also a fan of this movie. Personally I think it is the weakest of the three films, but a fun film regardless. The Riddick character deserved a return to the screen, and while we got his return, I wish it had been the return that was planned at the end of Chronicles. I have heard that they still plan to tell those stories, and this was just a slight detour for the film series. After all, "We all have to go home somtime." If you were a fan of the previous Riddick films, you should definitely give this one a try. If you are not, I would still recommend you rent this film and give it a chance.

This is a great Science Fiction movie that continues to tell us about the adventures of Riddick in far off planets. I enjoyed the movie very much, especially the scenes that included some of the animals that lived in that planet. It also showcased the challenges Riddick faced with some of those venomous and dangerous animals. Some parts of the movies were a little slow, but all in all it was a good movie and I would recommend it to people that like this genre of movie.

I'm so glad they made this movie because it allows me to pretend that the second one didn't really happen. Mercifully, the movie both continues from the end of the second entry and glosses over it. Riddick stands on its own, focusing more on development from the first movie and allowing Vin Diesel to do what he does best: brood. The special effects are great, so just grab some popcorn, sit back and enjoy some killing. In the dark. Done well.

the movie was enjoyable to watch, since I've been a big fan of the first intial film, titled Pitch Black, of which also starred Vin Diesel. The overall plot of the film is great since seeing the first original film. It features all the characters and how they develop throughout the 3 films and its done so thru sequence. I've watched them from 1 - 3 many times now, as I will continually to do so. Its such a great film to see over and over again, never will grow tired of watching all 3 films in the series.

The followup to the Chronicles of Riddick movie was good and worth watching if you are a fan of the series. If you are expecting the movie to be anything like Chronicles of Riddick then you are going to be disappointed. It is still very action packed but tends to move slower and have less character development for major characters. Its worth watching if you're a fan of the movie series or if you just want something exciting.

Another chapter in the saga of a great anti-hero...a bad man with a 'code of honor'. Great monsters, great action...and those poor bounty hunters, who don't really stand a chance (Riddick picking them off is half the fun, they think they're so bad!)...unless they work with him, then he'll let them live. The best of the three Riddick movies, in my opinion. Get the popcorn, turn out the lights, lie back and enjoy the show.

There are two roles that were made for Vin Diesel: Dominic Toretto & Riddick. This next installment harkens to old sci-fi style. Vin Diesel has a passion for the character of Riddick, and he felt like he made a promise to the fans to continue it. He put up his own home to fund much of the budget. The budget was only 2/5ths of The Chronicles of Riddick, it shows, but they make the most of it for the fans.
