These were on sale for a very reasonable price. I typically purchase arctis pro headphones but since they were so inexpensive I picked up a pair. I still prefer the artcis pros but these are great for the price.

Overall these are still GREAT after 9 months of daily use! Often over 24 hours several days a week. Other than a whiney noise when not playing/watching anything and the volume buttons sounding jiggily these are awesome headphones!

I have been using these headphones non-stop since I received them. I have been listening to music, watching videos, movies and most of all, gaming on them. Right off the bat, the absolute best feature of these headphones, and the reason they are now my daily driver, is because of how light and comfortable they are. I currently own at least 8 pairs of different headphones for different uses and these are by far, the most comfortable. To me comfort is almost everything. If headphones aren't comfortable, I'm not going to use them; it's that simple. I can wear these cans for hours without any fatigue and sometimes I forget they're even on. What makes them so comfortable is that they're made of a high quality plastic material. I'm glad Plantronics decided to omit the use of any metal or aluminum to keep these as light as possible because they knocked it out of the park!!! The design cues are aesthetically pleasing as well. You get some carbon fiber inserts on the outside of each ear cup with some gold trim and gold accents; classy.
Overall, the sound stage is pretty neutral. By no means are they bass heavy. It is balanced fairly well. Tight/crisp bass and good highs and mids. The virtual surround sound that is produced is spot on. I played a ton of CS:GO, Blacklight Retribution, PubG, Overwatch, and Quake Champions and these cans produce probably the most accurate virtual surround sound I've heard on any headphones. That said, listening to music was a bit lacking. By no means were they terrible, but it's pretty obvious that these are meant for gaming and movies.
In terms of accessories, the headset comes with a wireless receiver which makes it incredibly easy to pair with the headset. I love that plantronics decided to include a fiber optic input on the receiver instead of only giving us the option of USB. Good on ya Plantronics! Some say that they don't notice a difference between using USB and using fiber optic. If your soundcard has a fiber optic output, I would try both so you can decide what sounds better to you. I definitely noticed a difference. Particularly in terms of volume, fiber optic was the way to go.
Dolby Atmos was a bit of a mixed bag for me. A lot of us gaming "purists" are still rocking Windows 7 Ultimate. Unfortunately, Dolby Atmos is only available on Windows 10. Having several laptops running Windows 10, I gave it a spin. It's incredible. However, one must note that most people trying Dolby Atmos on these headphones are listening to the included demos when downloading the Dolby Atmos app in Windows 10. And while the demos do sound impressive, most games and movies do not yet support Dolby Atmos. So for right now, this is a bit of a marketing feature. But rest assured that if Dolby Atmos is widely adopted, you are in for a treat!!
Lastly, the battery is INCREDIBLE!!!!!!! I cannot stress that enough. SInce I received the headphones I have only charged them once. This headset certainly has the longest lasting battery out of any wireless headphones I've used.
Overall, the unrivaled comfort, sound quality in games, and the ridiculously long battery life has made me switch from my three hundred dollar @stros to these!

I have been using my headphones for a few months now, I can’t think of any reason I would be unhappy with them. They recharge in a acceptable amount of time, and I get a lot of use out of each charge.

Bought this instead of one of the main market gaming headsets, mainly because Plantronics has been around forever. Hassle free set up, sounds great, and has all the features I could want.

I have had less-than-stellar experiences with wireless headsets lately. So, I was a bit skeptical when I received these Plantronics RIG 800HD gaming headsets featuring ATMOS Surround. First, Let’s talk about looks. They are very gamey and kind of chunky; Plantronics was certainly not going for classy or minimalistic. They are big and have a sizable footprint on the head. However, they are rather light and surprisingly comfortable since they are made of plastic. They fit kind of loose but do not fall off when I shake my head. So, unless you are a headbanger, this will not be an issue. The earcups are made of a breathable mesh cloth and are very soft. The earcups are around-the-ear, and with light clamping, wearing glasses is not a problem. This makes them extremely comfortable for long sessions (I used them for about 4 hours at a time). Whether you have a small or big head, they can easily be adjusted. There are several controls on the left earcup. There is an on/off switch, a rocking mechanism for volume control which raises or lowers the volume (on the PC -not the headset), and a mic/game volume control. There is also the micro-USB port for charging. The battery lasts for hours before they need recharging. Hooking them up is as easy as plugging the included dongle to a USB port on the computer or through an optical cable from a console or TV (sadly the optical cable was not included). The wireless range can reach far, and I did not experience sound lag or cutting off, even when I walked around the house (even through walls!). The right cup features a preset sound equalizer button, which brings me to the most important aspect of any headset -the sound quality. Although not as great as certain wired sets, these impressed me quite a bit. There is a sound clarity that I was not expecting at all. I was able to pick up many sounds that I had not paid attention to before. In RPG’s and adventure games, ambient sounds such as forest noise, city chatter, and distant conversations became very discernible. In multiplayer games, shooting, screams and explosions seemed to come from the proper distances and direction. I actually heard footsteps near me and that made all the difference! These come with a Dolby ATMOS key which should immediately be downloaded to your PC or XBOX One. This software makes watching movies and shows a definite pleasure. The simulated Surround sound is very clearly and, if the content supports it, ATMOS will give you an all-encompassing experience of 360° sound around and above you (of course this does not compare to true ATMOS speaker setups). Music is OK, but it is hard to expect good fidelity from these as it is extremely difficult to replicate all frequencies over wireless. The equalizer button is good, but it simply adds/removes bass as needed. I find the second setting the best. One thing to point out is that these are not sound proof or noise cancelling. You will hear what’s going on around you. For me, this gives a natural sound and provides a bigger soundstage. As far as the mic is concerned, it is average, but does the job. While communications are clear, it can sound a bit tiny and thin; like speaking from far away, but no one really complained. If you want better quality, I recommend getting a dedicated mic. You can mute the mic by placing it in the upright position. Overall, I cannot say enough good things about these cans. The looks might not be for everyone but the performance and comfort they bring more than makes up for that and make it very easy for me to recommend them.

Plantronics Gaming-worthy Headset

Plantronics has for a while now, been a brand I know and trust, for audio electronics. Even before opening up the box, this new Plantronics RIG 800HD Wireless Dolby Atmos Gaming Headset (for PC), impressed me. The packaging was attractive, inviting you to eagerly want to know what’s inside. And I most certainly did.
After carefully removing the headset, and accessories, from the plastic insert, I immediately looked it over, noting the placement of basic features, such as the microphone, on/off switch, volume control, EQ button, micro-USB charging port, etc. But it was the ‘oh so soft’ ear cushions that made me go, “wow.”
Talk about comfortable. The ear cup cushions on this Plantronics headset are the softest, yet most comfortably fitting ear cups I’ve experienced from any gaming headphone so far. And I’ve tried many, including other Plantronics. In addition, the inner cushioned head strap is also amazingly soft and comfortable, ably doing its job of securing the headset in place, while not creating any type of pressure on my head during the length of time I was wearing them. Not only are they adjustable so as to fit perfectly, but this well-designed headset is light enough to wear for extended gaming sessions.
Getting the headset all connected to my gaming computer was an easy enough procedure. Just follow the simple, quick start guide, and you’ll be ready to go. Once you’re connected, you’ll want to take a few moments to customize your audio settings on your computer for optimal performance.
Of course, the most important thing about this Plantronics gaming headset, is indeed, how well it performs.
In order to put the headset through its paces, I logged into my favorite game and soon found myself enjoying the incredible quality of the Dolby Atmos enhanced sound* coming through this Plantronics headset. As expected, the sound-isolating ear cups allowed me to keep my focus on the game, immersing me in a lifelike audio atmosphere - ambient sounds were realistic, dialogue was clean, the musical soundtrack flowed smoothly, sound effects were full and rich - all while still allowing me to be aware of my surroundings. The noise-canceling microphone also did what it was meant to - voices during chat were crisp, with no noticeable lag or distortion - and upon asking my fellow gamers, was told my voice came through loud and clear. Muting the mic, was merely a matter of pushing the microphone up out of the way, next to the ear cup. This Plantronics headset has a 24-hour battery life; more than enough for even hardcore gamers.
All in all, I can wholeheartedly recommend this RIG 800HD Wireless Dolby Atmos Gaming Headset (for PC) to anyone wanting a well-made, quality headphone whether you game, or just want to use it for voice chat on your computer. This headset is totally worth its cost, and can hold its own against headphones from other brands in the same approximate price range.

The Plantronics RIG 800HD headset is an impressive headset that is not only useful for gaming applications, it is just as useful for more serious needs such as web conferencing, and podcasting. This adds to the value that this headset provides.
This review will be done in 3 parts – features, usage impressions, and pros/cons:
Features:
The features of the headset are excellent. This wireless headset provides for up to 24 hours of wireless listening. The headset has a USB based wireless connector for connecting to a PC or laptop. The wireless has a range of 10m and has a noise cancelling microphone. Since this headset is designed for long usage periods of gaming the adjustable frame is made of lightweight material to ensure the best fit possible. This headset is especially nice from my perspective as I abhor ear buds and prefer either an on-ear or as in this headset the over the ear headsets. The over the ear design of this headset allows for one to concentrate on the task at had be it a teleconference or a gaming session.
For gaming purposes, the headset has controls that allow one to balance the game sounds and team chat levels to your personal levels. It also has a rotary master volume control to help keep levels appropriate for the task at hand. Finally, it has multiple EQ modes that allow you to further adjust the sound to your preferences.
For all use purposes, the microphone can be raised to the vertical position to must the mic – which is a nice feature to have for any headset uses – especially when on conferences and web meetings.
Usage Impressions:
The headset is a wonderful addition to one’s setup and will allow you to get the best sounds from one’s system when using a headset. I tested the headset using multiple tracks that were recommended for testing audio systems. These tracks were used for testing audio systems across the sound spectrum form deep base to soaring highs. The tracks allow testing spatial separation of sounds and the dynamic ranges of the piece being played. From all of these tracks the sounds were excellent and only one track was lacking in the separation of various instruments.
The nicest included item with this headset is an included license code for Dolby Atmos® for Headphones. This is an audio enhancement that creates an amazing experience with moving audio that flows around you – enhancing the 3D experience and increasing the immersion into the games you play.
For audio conferencing functionality this headset works great. The headset and USB connector as portable enough that one can travel with the headset and take advantage of it for use with audio conferencing solutions and provides a quality audio experience for this use case. The mute function is useful here and one can use the timing of muting and unmuting to help avoid interrupting another speaker.
Pros: Audio quality, Batty life, portability, performance
Cons: None so far.
