A small step-up from last generation
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Not a lot needs to be said about this new version Ring camera. Compared to the older model, the Plus has a higher resolution camera ( 2560x1440 instead of 1920x1080 ) and slightly improved motion detection configuration. The privacy cover is still there and it still has the same two-way connectivity allowing you to use it as an audio intercom. It also comes with a dedicated cable and power adapter, so it's nice that you don't have to use a separate one. The downside is it seems a bit pricey for a basic wired indoor-only camera ( $60 as of this review ). Competing brands and models in a similar price range offer indoor cameras with 4K resolution or motorized pan/tilt capabilities ( even Ring's own pan-tilt indoor camera for the same price ). Paying $60 for a fixed position 1440p camera isn't overly expensive, but it's also not a great deal. As with most Ring products, setup is pretty easy if you already have a Ring account and other items. You open the mobile application on your tablet or phone and discover the new device. Link it to your Wi-Fi and go through a step-by-step setup wizard. I did run into one problem immediately after setup where viewing the live camera feed made my phone think it was stuck in a phone call, even after I'd closed the app. Rebooting my phone took care of it and I haven't been able to replicate it since, so probably nothing to worry about. If this is your first Ring product, setup is much more involved as creating your Ring account takes some doing. It's not hard, it just takes some time as Ring takes account security seriously and requires you to use some form of 2FA and authentication codes. Overall, if you already have Ring devices and want to add an indoor camera, the Cam Plus isn't a bad option. But unless you really need the higher camera resolution, getting their older-gen cameras may be the better option for the money.

Great addition to my Ring setup!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Like every other Ring product I own, it was super easy to setup this camera. It also feels well made and high quality while also not being super heavy. I went from unboxing it to having a live video and audio feed within 5 minutes. Most of that too was the firmware update that was required, and that's to be expected. It found my WiFi network right away and was overall really to setup. The privacy/muffler piece was really easy to attach and does a great job of avoiding constant notifications when I'm home. I can easily slide it to cover the audio sensor and camera or slide it to the side (it's on a well built track it feels like) when we leave so I can see if someone enters the home unexpectedly or something happens with our dog. The video and audio quality is really great. I have it freestanding but it also comes it a mount if you need one. The live view and two way talk also work really. I think the only thing it's missing is MLO/WiFi 7 network connection capabilities for a faster connection, but overall this hasn't hindered my view of it to warrant giving it less than 5 stars. I highly recommend this camera though.

Small covert detailed indoor camera
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.TLDR: Plug-in AC powered, 2K resolution, color night vision, 4 X zoom function, 2560 X 1440 resolution, 2 way Audio via speaker and microphone on camera, for indoor use. Available as black or white housing. I got this camera to mount on the wall in our home to keep tabs on the interior and to monitor our cat that likes to climb all over and use the sofa for constant naps during the day. It produces clear images and clear color. It has a wide angle of view, and the night vision with no indoor lights on is very good. I have also tried the microphone function and our cat hears us and looks toward the source of the sound but does not try to attack the camera since it is mounted high on the wall. The power cord is very long to allow plugging it into the AC outlet and mounting the camera where it is wanted. Many might say too long but it is easily bundled up and secured easily hidden for neatness. The camera utilizes both 2.4Ghz and 5GHz WiFi routers which is good to see since all new routers use 5 GHz as default. The app works almost quickly in producing the live image. Motion detection is much better on this new model compared to an older Ring camera we also have; it produces fewer false notifications and has clearer image resolution. You can set it to trigger on Cars, a Person, Any Motions or combinations of these. It includes a simple plastic cover "shroud" that sort of clips onto the housing and covers the lens; the microphone has to be turned off to ensure there is complete privacy when using the plastic “shroud”. The unit itself is small so is easily used anywhere and most people wont even notice it if it is in a cabinet or shelf unit with other things. Good kit

Nice security and communication 2K camera.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. That's an upgrade from the older model but it is still lacking a lot... - Subscription is required to allow recording and saving video history... Without subscription, only limited features are available. - As mentioned above, about subscription: no local storage is available. Camera depends a lot on your WiFi connection. - Limited to Amazon/Alexa ecosystem. Not very open for other platforms. - I believe Ring was really able to make it smaller. On the other hand: - The video quality: Retinal 2K is amazing. Very clear recording. A good improvement when compared with the old 1080p cameras. With this camera, it is easier to identify objects, faces and small details while zooming. Even under low light conditions. - At almost near dark condition, this Ring Indoor cam is still capable of providing full color video while my other older cams would just switch to black and white (IR boost). - I like the way you can disable the cam by covering the lens. That's a guaranteed privacy and easy way to shut down the cam even with no phone in hands. - Zooming is ok. Allowing 4x zoom (enhanced) is possible thanks to the 2K resolution without losing details. - 2 way talk is good. There is no significant delay. Also the Siren feature is good to have. Good noise cancellation overall. It is good to have a Ring if you are also using Amazon/Alexa. It is a good addition to your system. I have already installed different brand cams. They are playing ok with Ring. It is good to buy if you are looking for a good 2-way communication device with high resolution camera and clear audio. Privacy shutter is also good.

It sounds like you are concerned with the need for the Ring Home Plan subscription. The Ring Home Plan provides valuable capabilities, such as accessing paid features and the ability to save, download, and review footage captured by your Ring device. Without a Ring Home Plan, you can still view real-time video for Ring doorbells and cameras and answer doorbell notifications when they happen, but you don’t get video recordings of those events.

Good indoor Ring product
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I received this product to try and this is our first indoor Ring cam and it is good. We have had an outdoor Ring floodlight wired cam Pro for a few years and like it very much. I do pay for the subscription for that but I don’t really want to pay for another subscription to keep my videos for this Indoor Cam – so we won’t be doing that. It is packaged very well in a little box that just fits the pieces – no waste! The camera and hardware are fitted very nicely in the little box and the price point is good for this camera. The setup was easy as well and I just added it to my Ring app by using the QR code. Usually, I have it sitting on top of my fireplace to watch the cat for the most part but it also covers the garage door and patio door. We have also used it in our bedroom when we had a contractor in last week… good timing!! I was able to watch when I wanted to – just to check in! The video quality is very good even in the evening/night when we aren’t home. The length of the power cord it ok to good to set it where I need it. I can adjust most features using my app just like I can for the garage cam – which is a nice plus. Another nice feature is that is comes with a shutter that you can use to cover the camera when you or other people don’t want to be watched! The “son” appreciates that 😉 The video quality is very good and night vision part is helpful as well. I/we feel it is another good Ring product and would recommend – however, not paying for subscription would be my only negative.

Great Camera
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Ring - Indoor Cam Plus, Plug-In, Retinal 2K for enhanced video quality, 4x Zoom, Low-Light Sight for color night vision - The Ring camera is easy to set up and you just need to d download the Ring app. I have many Ring cameras so I have done the set up many times. I’ve tried four different brands of security cameras, but Ring is my favorite camera. There is a yearly subscription fee, but I think it has is reasonably priced . Within the Ring app, there are multiple settings. I prefer the plug-in type camera for inside the house since dealing with the battery can be somewhat difficult for me if I place the camera at a high level. The app allows you to have zones for monitoring, motion, sensitivity, and schedules. The camera can give you an audio alert on your phone or iPad. The resolution of the monitored activity and the Live View is very clear. It is easy to scroll through the activity that has been captured. I placed this camera high up on a shelf in the garage, which allows me to check if the garage door is closed. When my husband is working in the garage, I can also talk with him. This camera has excellent night vision for when the light is turned off in the garage. This is a great security camera and I highly recommend it!

Excellent Clarity, Easy Setup
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Let me start by saying that I have used mini ring products, and they are all very easy to install and set up. The ring indoor cam Plus is no exception, and unless you are mounting it in a hard-to-reach place, to setup. Really couldn't be easier. Literally, just plug it in, get it recognized in the app, make sure it is focused on the scene that you want it to be monitoring, and you are good to go. It has excellent clarity at 2K, which allows up to a 4X manual zoom to still keep details clear and in focus. Additionally, even in low light settings, it still has full color view due to its "Low-Light Sight." Newer ring cameras take motion detection a step further, allowing a live view where you can interact with the person on the other end. Not only can you see and hear them, you can speak to them. This can make it great for places like lobbies, and other business waiting areas. It also makes it an excellent auction for when you have to leave your pet at home, they can hear your voice and you can see it respond. If you have an indoor area that you need to monitor, this is an excellent solution. That is future proof in that. Even if you don't need all of its features now, you may in the future.

Great indoor camera
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a solid great indoor camera. Unboxing is very easy and all the parts are well packaged. The set up is super easy when you scan the QR code With your phone or tablet. Because I’m already in the ring ecosystem, this camera makes it really easy to integrate. Very familiar with all the settings and they’re similar to all the other ring products in regards to motion, sensitivity, range, alerts, etc. There are several ways you can mount the camera, personally I chose to leave it on a high shelf in old in the area, which I need to monitor. I think the picture quality is very nice at 2K resolution. The live feed which I use quite a bit already provides fairly smooth live motion and monitoring with very little lag. Color quality is very nice. Zoom in options are Very useful and picture quality doesn’t agree too much. I do like the camera mount and tilt. You have various angles and positioning options and can readjust easily. The audio also works very nicely and decent enough quality to hear the area of your monitoring. Overall great camera, well priced, and integrates nicely into the ring ecosystem.

Rocky start
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have a Ring alarm system so I thought it would be good to expand the system with a couple Ring cameras. This camera has given the most frustrating experience getting it going. At first the set up was fine and easy but I found it was causing a problem with my 2.4 Ghz wifi. When it was connected it would cause my phone to be kicked off the wifi and on to cellular data. I really had no idea what was going on. When I unplugged the camera, wifi was fine. It took a couple of days and several updates to the camera and now it seems to be working. Picture quality is OK. It's a wider angle, so everything seems a bit far away. It needs to be in a brighter we'll lit room to have the best resolution. There is no light on it (all cameras need a light) so the night mode is pretty grainy with no way to brighten the room remotely. If you have Alexa with a display, it can display the video feed when you ask. It works on the firestick also with the voice remote so you can view better on the larger screen of your TV. Aside from the frustrating setup experience it seems like a decent option if you want to stay in the ring ecosystem.

Too many deal breakers
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When I first opened the box to the Ring Indoor Cam Plus, I was immediately concerned. It was small, exceptionally light weight and cheap feeling. Some of those concerns did carry through upon a more in-depth review but not to the extent that I expected. Set up- As someone who no longer uses Ring devices, I expected a bit more work to set it the Ring Indoor Cam Plus. That was definitely not the case, it was lightning fast. Download the app, plug in the Ring Indoor Cam Plus and scan the QR code. A few questions for set up and an update and I was up and running in 2 to 3 minutes. Zero issues. Build quality, fit and finish – The Ring Indoor Cam Plus is the cheapest feeling video cam I have ever tested. While that is not reflective of the performance (more on that later,) it is an indication of what great length Ring took to reduce the cost. The base is too light so the Cam Plus easily falls over if not mounted to something. The privacy cover is as flimsy as it gets, be careful not to break it when installing it. Performance – The performance can be broken down into several categories: Normal light condition Relatively sharp with a moderate field of vision. Compared to an older 1080P models that I installed at another location, I could not see any difference except that the Cam Plus had better color. Ring is strong in this area. Keep in mind that is entirely subjective. Low light conditions The camera can do both color and black and night vision. It switches back and forth depending on the conditions. The color was not great during night vision, but I really cannot fault the camera for that, it is low light after all. The black and white night vision was sharp. Motion sensor Works as advertised. It immediately picks up on a person in front of the cam and recognizes it as a face. I tested only on myself, but it nailed it every time. I think this technology has come a long way and I thought Ring was weaker than the big competitors in the past, that is not the case anymore. App and smart features – The Ring app is top notch with a strong ecosystem and integration. And that is the problem. For you to take advantage of all of the features, you will need to break the paywall of subscription nonsense. There are 3 subscription plans of varying cost, and you will lose the best features unless you subscribe to the best plan. I would challenge you to walk into Bestbuy and look at the box. Try to find anywhere that you will need a subscription and how much it costs to take advantage of the features. You will not see it. There are just too many deal breakers here. The cost of the subscription is high and not disclosed to the level it should be. There is no Google or Apple integration – the former being the absolute deal breaker for me. Sure it is a great deal in terms of initial cost, especially during Black Friday but it is not good value. If you are not already entrenched into the Ring ecosystem, this is pass. There are just better options out there.
