Great game, supports all old DLC (excluding RBN songs) and the on-disc content from RB1, RB2 and RB3 is coming in a future update (provides that you imported those songs into RB3 previously). So at launch, I had over 700 songs in my personal library to play! Great party game, only wish it came with a second guitar.

Rock Band 4 is a fantastic game with a lot of shortcomings that will (hopefully) be mitigated in future patches and paid DLC updates ala Street Fighter IV. As it stands now, the game is a rocking good time that is easy to recommend if you're in need of new plastic instruments and don't want to drag out you PS360 or Wii.
Pros:
All legacy DLC is compatible, with only certain tracks not available for download currently. Harmonix is actively trying to grant access to problematic DLC.
The new guitar seems much better than the old RB strats, although I was more of a Guitar Hero controller user.
New weekly DLC is confirmed and has happened, being announced every Monday now. Aerosmith and Van Halen are highlights of the first month of DLC.
It's easier than ever to drop in and out of the game, freestyle solos are neat, and every single DLC track from 2007 to now has been given harmonies. Queen DLC has never been better.
Harmonix has also released a legacy controller adapter that allows X360 instruments to work in the new game with no lag. PS3 legacy instruments only require their original dongles to work in RB4.
Harmonix Twitter account (and the Rock Band account) are very active and constantly respond to feedback.
Free December 8th patch is on the way to fix a few glaring flaws in the game and a Rock Band 3 export is also available in December for $15 - previous games will (likely) import for free at a later date.
Instruments have the capability to be updated via micro USB (Xbone) or bluetooth (PS4).
NOTE: you will require a laptop or desktop with either built in bluetooth or a dongle in order to update your instruments on PS4. From what I gather, the instruments will not update via Apple computers.
Cons
Some DLC is missing on the Xbox Marketplace - Smooth Criminal, Blackened, etc. Basically, delisted DLC is in a tough place due to first party restrictions, but Harmonix is trying to sort it out.
The drums are terrible. Hardware wise, they feel like plastic drums of old; hardly shocking. However, in game is a different story entirely. I've constantly missed notes I feel I should hit, and rolls barely seem to work. I am not an expert player on drums, but a lot of dropped notes appear during my sessions. Madcatz and Harmonix are taking feedback from the community and are working on drums, with a couple of firmware updates already out.
Character customization is almost nonexistent compared to even Rock Band 1. Seriously, the character creator is pitiful. Do not be shocked at how terribly lacking it is if you don't believe me.
Dynamic fills on drums, in my opinion, are garbage. Stick with classic fills, as the new dynamic fills don' always match the music and are terrible when throwing you off beat.
Freestyle solos can sound cool, but can completely destroy other songs. Come as you Are (Unplugged), for example, sounds like hot poo with freestyle solos on. Thankfully these can be turned on/off with a flick of the dpad.
This is a big one for lots of folks, myself included: THERE IS NO PRACTICE MODE. That means there is no way to practice pitch or tone in demanding songs besides playing over and over again until you finally maybe hit it. There is no drum trainer either.
Another biggie for a small subset of folks: THERE IS NO ION SUPPORT. I do not know if it is being worked on, I'm sorry. I'm not really a drummer.
Oh, and if you were a Wii player, you will have no DLC. There is no Wii U version of RB4 planned, so all those purchases are tied to RB3 or whatever. Sorry if you invested a lot there.
Worth it?
In my opinion, the game is well worth its asking price. I've packed my X360 away and moved on to PC/PS4/XB1/Wii U, but Rock Band has always had a special place in my gaming heart. If you're a diehard fan with an urge to play on new systems, then this is for you. If you're a diehard RB3 player that still has their stuff out, I'd pass until a few more updates and see where RB4 stands. If you're a Wii player, I'd probably just give up and find a new game unless the lack of DLC doesn't bother you.
Happy rocking!

I have played all Guitar Heroes and Rock Bands from the Xbox 360 era and enjoyed them very much. So when I heard I was going to be able to play Rock Band 4 on the Xbox One, I got even more excited.
The gameplay is what you expect out of any Rock Band with a few new features once your character has to play solos in the song. It was an interesting feature that I actually enjoyed.
However, what really brought down the score was the fact that it missing so many songs! The amount of DLC songs far exceeds what comes included in the game. The bundle was already expensive enough, but to be charged roughly $2 per song is even more insane. Especially all my favorites from previous Rock Band series.
So overall, great game especially when playing with friends or family, but to get the songs you'll really enjoy, expect to have a giant hole in your wallet.

Great fun for friends and family. Really love the ability to change difficulties w/o having to start the song over. Drums are sturdier. The songs selection is lacking as there is not enough classic songs that everyone knows..to much indy stuff.

If you liked Rock Band before, you'll like the new version. It's basically the same game, just better instruments and you can't play previous Rock Band songs. That's my least favorite part is that I can't play the songs that made me fall in love with the original game. You can still play all the songs you paid for on the 360. The other huge negative to this box set is that it only comes with one guitar. The game allows for 2 guitars and a bass, yet you CANNOT buy a guitar individually, not even from harmonix or mad catz website. I will finish by saying Rock Band is still one of the best party games on the console.

A Great Continuation of a Great Series

The Rock Band brand name first came to be in 2007, with the release of it's first title. Since then the game franchise has released 3 sequels, multiple Track Packs, and 1 spin off featuring the Beatles. With this new iteration of the series, the franchise takes one step back, but looks to leap forward into the future.
Rock Band 4 will be the only Rock Band title released on this console generation according to developer Harmonix, and as such, they have promised multiple updates to keep the game fresh for players. That includes new modes, dongs, and in-game items. While they haven't delivered yet, they have begun to lay the ground work for what will no doubt become a staple in any friendly get together.
It is worth noting that currently individual instruments are not for sale by themselves. Harmonix has said that will change in the future, but for now the only way to get a drum set is to by the full band set.
If you are willing to give the game a try, it is most definitely worth it, but be warned that not all feature have fully blossomed.

This game is really fun. Wish it came with more songs and a 2nd guitar. The game is not cheap especially when you spend a couple dollars a song and buy a few dozen songs to add to your library but there is a ton of awesome tracks available for download all different genres.
All in all it is a really fun game for adults and children.

My only detractor was an issue with the preorder special. I was to receive 30 free songs as a DLC, and the code did not work. The game itself is great, and the instruments are top quality. Waiting to get the adaptor for old instruments when it comes out, so that we can use our RB3 Guitar and bass with this.
Harmonix needed to release all of the adaptors and accessories at launch, and by delaying them, they are causing issues for my whole family to play.

Great Party/Family Game

We owned the previous version of RockBand on XBOX 360 and loved it. This new version keeps most everything intact from the last version and expands in some areas. My family loves to play as our own "RockBand". The wireless guitar and drums are great. Only two real negatives to note. 1) The band-in-a-box edition we purchased only has one guitar and there is currently no way to purchase an additional guitar controller for the game. My band is limited to three, when the game is designed to accommodate four players (vocalist, drums, base guitar, lead guitar). I guess I'm stuck waiting for who knows how long, for them to release the guitar controller by itself.
2) The avatars you create for each band member are limited. Not a lot of facial options or hair styles to choose from. Doesnt make it feel like your game band-member avatar is unique.
All-in-all it's great fun. Highly recommend.

Compared to my Rock Band 2 equipment, the Rock Band 4 hardware is built much better. I don't particularly like the included song list and it's a little pricey to pay $2 for each new song, but the DLC offering is pretty good.

Not a ton different with the controllers compared to the original. Always a blast to play with friends and family though. I wish they had songs for cheaper.... way to much to spend on a song you can only play on Xbox.

This plays just as you remember Rock Band it, more like the original.
Drop in and out with any instrument at any time, I got the Band in a Box, mostly because the wired instruments are not compatible with the Xbox One version at the moment. The Drum pads are much better compared to the old versions, Mad Catz did a good job with them.
I had a ton of songs on Xbox 360 that carried over to my Xbox One, it does take some time to download them as you have to go one by one and download, even if you got it in a track pack. Slowly they have made tracks from other games released, Blitz and the Green Day bonus tracks have came up for me.
In the end if you love the classic Rock Band games it will be mostly as you remember, it's always fun to bring Rock Band out when you got a group of Friends or Family over.

As a teen, I've always wanted a Guitar Hero World Tour band set, but was never able to buy one before the fad died out. I'm so glad Rock Band 4 came back and made a great product. I didn't know/like most of the songs on the disc, so I was happy I was able to buy more songs, songs I wanted, on the xbox store. Rock Band has made a commitment to making this game as backwards compatible as possible, with allowing you to use your old instruments and dlc purchases from the other rock band games. The game is still fun, the sound quality is great, the instruments are sturdy, except the drum pad materials are a little weird, but it's not a deal breaker as I mostly play guitar only. Cannot recommend this product enough if you are a fan of the music video game genre.

Rockband is a must if you have a big family (or not) that loves to have a good time rocking out. Rockband let's you bring over all your previously purchased songs as well (you must re-download them though).
Instruments work well, calibration for the most part is pretty solid.
My only complaint (took 1 star away) is that no matter what we try the microphone (singing) is slight off. It makes singing a bit annoying. I've written the company and supposedly a fix is in the works....we'll see.
Overall I would definitely suggest this game.....it is a bit pricy but my family plays religiously so we definitely get our $$$ worth.

I have always love Rock Band and Guitar Hero games so naturally I was glad they returned for this new generation of players. Rock Band 4 is a fun, but flawed game. I dont really care for the setlist but I bought it with my backwards compatible purchases in mind. Here is where the problem lies however. Right now, there really is not that much that DLC that is compatible with the game, and that includes all of the 3 other Rock Band games and several spin offs that came before it. That being said, it is still as fun as ever to get a band of friends or family together and rock out like its 1989. The great thing is that this game will only get better with time.

If you've played the Rock Band series before, chances are you still have content to transfer into this great update that is Rock Band 4. This is the best reason to make your return to the music game genre... to be able to play or sing to all those great songs another hundred times, but with fun new improvements like the freestyle guitar solos for instance. The new plastic guitar is the sturdiest build yet for the series. The drums and the mic work well, as they should. Rock Band is still the best party game around, so get your friends and/or family together and have a Rock Band night!
