Brie Larson is incredible in this film. As is Jacob Trembley! No wonder she won an academy award! Her character is a fighter and is truly brave. I can’t wait to see her in Captain marvel!

Room is a drama thriller, but not in the traditional sense of the word. It deals with a dark subject matter and the first half of the film can be quite disturbing. Yet director Lenny Abrahamson has adapted the best-selling novel with grace and grandeur. Here is a film so artistically unique and deviant, full of genuine emotion thanks to two outstanding performances, that isn't afraid to take risks and surprise at every turn. Brie Larson and Jacob Tremblay both give spectacular performances that we'll definitely see more of them in the future! The best actors are the ones able to transport you into their characters' own universes, no matter how isolated from society they happen to be. Larson and Tremblay both have a tremendous range of emotional ability and are able to sell you on their story not just for two hours, but for an entire lifetime. With Room, Lenny Abrahamson goes the extra mile with his direction. The film asks us to examine how we view the world and how this viewpoint is shaped by our nurtured upbringing. The result is a breathtaking experience brought to life, one you won't soon forget. Overall, my final verdict 5/5 Stars!

One of the Best of 2015

Alice in Wonderland has been used as inspiration for what are surely an innumerable number of stories. The idea of getting lost down a rabbit hole or your life not going the way you'd imagined it when you were a child is universal. The metaphors and analogies to be made are no doubt endless with any aspect of any single persons life, but Room is a certain kind of Alice story as you can feel the loss of our protagonist both physically and psychologically. Loss is a key word, a key theme if you will, given the circumstances of the situation presented in the film, but if you don't know that situation going in you're all the better for it. All that is necessary to know is that Brie Larson plays Joy Newsome, a woman who has seemingly been trapped in a single room shack for an ungodly amount of time while having raised her five year old son, Jack (Jacob Tremblay), in this confinement for the entirety of his life. There is only a single door in their room and it is protected by a locking system that only a mysterious visitor (Sean Bridgers) knows the code to. This stranger, referred to as "Old Nick", brings Joy and Jack food once a week, but like the majority of the supporting characters in any Alice story, he is cruel towards our heroine. Knowing little more than this myself before walking in, Room operates as a tense and unnerving thriller for it's first half before becoming an intense psychological trip in it's second. Both are equally engaging as is the film as a whole.

    Star Making Performance From Larson

I've been a fan of Larson since I saw her in 21 Jump Street and with Room she easily becomes a star. This is one of those rare feats in film making. The cinematography is great, but see this for the acting and the story. Not often has a movie made me cry, laugh, and shout out (aloud mind you) during the films run time. I don't want to spoil much of the story as it becomes obvious early on, what is actually going on. The magnificence of this film is in how the director was able to tackle the difficult subject matter in a way that doesn't leave you feeling like you saw an average thriller/horror movie, but really out it in perspective of the child, which I believe had a humanistic approach. It was amazing. Best movie of 2015, by a long shot and they're were great movies this year. (Im looking at you exmachina) Not only I, but I feel absolutely everyone who left the theater left a better person for what they witnessed. Not often do I come out of the theater with people being more polite than they were upon entering. THAT is the power this movie has, I emerged myself in the experience and I'm glad I did, because "No one is strong alone", certainly not I, and I have a more profound idea of appreciation of my own life and existence til death. I will continue on my quest but I know that I will never forget this landmark film, what it taught me, and how it humbled everyone in the theater.

"Room" is a Movie to Ponder

Unlike many of the movies that squared off against each other this past awards season, "Room" is not easily digested drama that ties all its sub-plots into tidy resolutions. It is a drama that is as messy and raw as its disturbing subject matter: the abduction and captivity of a fresh faced young Ohio girl who is snatched off the streets of her ordinary town and locked away for several years in a backyard shed (the "room" of the title) where she is repeatedly assaulted by her abductor who is in control of her life, and, most disturbingly, the father of her child. Brie Larson won the Best Actress Oscar for her performance in the film, and young Jacob Tremblay who plays her son probably should have won an Oscar too, he's that good. "Room" isn't light and breezy entertainment, nor is it neatly-packaged drama with the kinds of plot twists and resolutions that allow us to safely "enjoy" a movie about material like this. This is one movie that will keep you thinking about it long after the final credits have run.

When this movie came out last year I did not have the chance to go see it. However, when I rented it at Redbox I fell in love with the movie and I had to buy it. This item/movie is great because it has a nice cover peace/slip cover to it. It also comes with a nice slipcover and a digital copy code. These are small things I like about the package, but the biggest thing I like about the movie is the story. The crazy thing is that nobody talked about it and I never saw a trailer for it. It took one of my favorite reviewers to mention it and when I saw that it got nominated for an Oscar that is when i knew i had to watch it. In the end, the movie has a topic about abuse but if you can get through that and enjoy the prosperity moments then you will definitely love this movie!

ROOM is amazing and life affirming film. Brie Larson won the Oscar for Best Actress and it was well-deserved. The little boy also gives an incredible performance. Try and watch this film without knowing the plot - it will be a great journey as the film starts off and then slowly reveals itself in a rather nifty twist. A smart screenplay that is deftly directed, and the acting is AMAZING. Great film. Truly one of the best of 2015. This blu-ray is a welcome addition to my library. Features some behind-the-scenes, as well a nice colourful slipcover.

My friend and I made a promise that we would watch all the Oscar nominated movies before the ceromony. We only knew the little bits of the plot where a mom and her son have been living in a room and for her son, that's all he's grown up in. When we walked out of the theater, we had goosebumps. This is a terrific movie, but it hits on very serious issues and for most viewers will only need to be watched once. Don't deny yourself watching this movie because it's heart warming yet saddening, hopeful and dreary and you'll come out of it very perplexed about what you saw.

Make no mistake about it, there are aspects to Room which make it very difficult to sit through, probably especially for parents who are prone to worry anyway about the safety of their children. But what is so refreshingly commendable here is the film's portrayal of the resilience of the human spirit under unimaginable duress, not to mention the unshakeable bond between a mother and child. Performances are incredibly moving, technical merits are generally strong, and Room comes Highly recommended.

This is one of the best movies of 2015. Brie Larson certainly deserved her Academy award. Jacob Tremblay was fabulous as well! The horrific situation of the characters is movingly portrayed by Larson and Tremblay. The movie is well paced and not exploitative in any way. Any flaws in the movie are due to the story, not the people involved in the movie. This is a very touching film. It is well acted, well paced, and definitely worth seeing. Highly recommended.

I purchased this movie without knowing anything about it except its basic plot: a mother and a child held captive for several years in a garden shed. After watching the film, I now understand why it received all the Academy Award nominations that it did. The actors cast for the main characters were perfect for their roles, and gave really good performances. The plot glues you to your seat. No other way to describe it but it's an emotional ride throughout.

This is my pick for best picture of the year. A moving story about devotion and survival that resonates in todays world. Brie Larson is like a small star emitting the brightest light in her role of a mother trying to do the best for her child. This year there have been excellent movies, Spotlight and The Revenant to name two, but there is something about Room. Even though the subject matter is intense, this movie story is compelling and some may say full of hope.

This is a very unique movie of a mother and her son raised only inside a room and never knowing what the outside world is like until something happened that changed that. The young boy did an excellent job portraying a boy that goes through different emotions all throughout the movie. This is in my opinion the best picture of 2015 so I definitely highly recommend it and is worth adding to your movie collection!

I saw nearly every nominee for the Best Picture Oscar this year, and Room was my favorite of them all. Beyond Brie Larson's award-winning performance, this movie does an excellent job of exploring the everyday details and consequences of an extraordinary situation in relatable ways. A scene involving a rug in the back of a pickup truck is one of the most impactful moments of cinema I've ever experienced.

How does a young mother, kidnapped as a teenager and who has spent 7 years captive in a relatively small room and given birth in that room, raise that child to be a normal child who might also help her escape? That's what this movie looks at and does that exceptionally well and realistically. Despite being a dark theme, this movie is very life affirming and positive, in addition to being suspenseful.

It may sound sordid, but the film is tasteful and presents the story from the child view which is a testament to the Mother's ability to keep the harsh reality of their situation away from him. The bond between the two are tested as they deal with many drastic life changes. Solid adaptation of the book, well directed and performances by Jacob Tremblay and Oscar winning Brie Larson are unforgettable.

Room is about a boy and his mother being held captive and confined into a room. Once they escape, facing the real world will be their greatest challenge. Brie Larson delivers a remarkable performance as "Ma." This is one of the best movies of 2015 in my mind.

I saw this film for the first time with friends using a streaming account and the three of us could barely contain ourselves with the dramatic tension of the first 45 minutes of the film. After that first viewing, I have already watched the film two more times and have enjoyed it each time for different reasons. The acting is superb and the message is important and beautifully delivered.

Brie Larson's performance in this film is beyond question one of the best performances I've seen by a woman in a long time. Room is a must-watch masterpiece, that is deep, lively, and thoughtful, and will undoubtedly room you in its infinite wisdom with only a few characters and limited space.
