I had a hard drive from my previous computer in a box and figured I'd use it to add external storage to my Wii U. It was easy enough to install and showed up on the computer fine, and was able to format it for the wii. So far it's still been working fine.

Bought this for the use of using my old hard drive from my older computer. It easier than trying to transferring file from a back up drive.

This product is hard to find but useful to many people. Just make sure to do your research before buying. This is not compatible with SDATA hard drives. If you don't know what type you have, find out online. This is best used for people trying to use their old hard drives from their outdated PCs and use them as an external HD with USB (the USB cord is included inside the box). The unit itself performs well. Decent speed.

Needed to recover data from a dead external HD. Easily changed it out and powered up. Was able to get all my files back. Price was very reasonable. Would recommend.

This is exactly what I needed to pull data off of a drive in an older computer. It was very easy to install the drive into the case and once all was connected to my current computer it was recognized by windows and there were the files I wanted.

I purchased this product because the mother board in my computer died but all my data was still on the hard drive. I thought I could just plug my hard drive in and be all set. Didn't happen. First, I couldn't get the drive in the enclosure. The folks at Best Buy helped by installing it at the store. Next, I couldn't access my data. After another consultation at the store, I did a lot of searching and finally found my Excel and Word files. Still haven't found the Access files, but I will continue to search. So, not so easy peasy for this particular, somewhat computer literate, senior. Overall though, I'm glad I purchased it. Just thought it would be a lot easier. Maybe technical assistance should be available at no cost.

Easy to use and install the hard drive you want to use in it. Plug N Play. I'll buy another when I'm ready to put another hard drive in for use.

I bought two of these to use as back up drives they are extremely easy to set up and function nicely

It is a good product for the price. It would be better if it had a fan for cooling.

Great product, great price. It does just what I needed it to.

We had a 7 year old computer that was having power issues (would no longer power up - sounded like it was shorting out). It was old, so we decided to replace it instead of trying to get it repaired. We needed a way to get the files off the old hard drive and transfer them to our new computer. This hard drive enclosure worked great. I opened the old computer, unplugged the hard drive, then took out the screws that held it in place. Next, I put the hard drive into the drive enclosure and removed the plastic covers from the sides and screwed in the screws to hold the hard drive in place. Finally, I plugged in the control unit (plugged right into the SATA drive) and screwed it into place. Done in less than 5 minutes. The enclosure comes with a power chord, USB cable, 6 screws, and a mini screw driver. All I had to do was plug it in to the USB port and turn it on. The drivers were installed and I could copy all of the files I needed. For $25, this was a great solution for recovering our old files. Now I can use it as a back up drive.

This product assist you if u are out of space for a bigger hard drive and/or if you just have old hard drives from old computers... this product will get you up and running in a snap.

Excellent product for protecting data; I use external hard drives for much of my data storage.
