PIECE OF JUNK

Seven times, SEVEN TIMES, the ice maker had to have service within the first three years of owning this piece of junk. After the warranty ran out (3 days out), you guessed it; no ice maker. Stay away from Samsung! We just had it replaced 12/31/24. Even our installation guy said to us "you'll be replacing this within 5-7 years". He was almost spot on; 7 yrs, 8 months.

Looks Good So Far...Manuf. QC could be be better

This Fridge Looks good and for the options that area availabile. I was sad to see the 3-door version of the counter depth to be such a sub par model compared to its standard depth counterpart. (i.e.- incandescent lights vs. new l.e.d., and front door panel display) Because of this we were left to choose the more expensive 4-door model. In our endeavers, we discovered that Samsung has terrible quality controls on all of these fridges in regards to specified installation dimensions and fitment. Both models received specify a manufactured width of 35 3/4" and 35 5/8" and a required opening of 36" or greater. Our opening of course was 36" and the fridge wouldn't fit. After 4 different fridges all of the same line and two model numbers, I noted using a 3' straight edge, that each of the sidewalls on all of them had any where from 3/16" to 1/2" of bulge from the edge to the center, and/or ice box region depending on the side. Because of this, the actual overall dimension was always at or slightly over the stated 36" fitment envelope. This most likely happens due to the epanding insulation process during manufacturing and over insulation. One could take this as a positive to energy efficiency for the fridge, but if you have right at or near a 36" opening buyer BEWARE...or be ready to tear out one of the sheets of drywall.
In the end, It fit for us, but not after a slight mess and negative comments from BB stating that "this is how they all are anymore". Sorry to say, but that is not a position that you're entitled to take when the manufacturer states the required opening size and you verify my measurements as correct. My recommendation is to defer back to the manufacturer so they can make adjustments to their specs or review their QC rather than tell me what model YOU think I need to buy.

Buyer Be Aware

Please be aware of a problem that most Samsung products suffer from. Our three door refrigerator, that is only five years old, had one of its door handles break while trying to open it. The part, which holds the pin that holds the door handle, broke. The plastic part IS NOT REPLACEABLE. That means that if this part breaks, you have to buy another complete door. There is nothing wrong with the door other than this weak plastic part. The plastic part that failed probably costs a buck or two to make and maybe twelve dollars in a store, if it was sold, now costed us $300. It seems that during design and assembly, SAMSUNG has placed a PLASTIC part that is not repairable and the customer is responsible for their mistake. Custom services' response was that there was nothing they could do because my refrigerator was not under warranty. Since my fridge is five years old, a warranty wouldn't have helped anyway. Your concern should be that SAMSUNG's products have these parts in them. If your spending your hard earned money on SAMSUNG products, your depending on the SAMSUNG name and reputation to help its customers out when one of their products has failed. This is a design flaw by SAMSUNG. SAMSUNG should take responsibility for their mistakes.

So Far So Good

After only a few weeks we are a relatively pleased with this product. There are some small issues...probably the biggest being the door storage shelves which have some small areas that are really just useless as nothing will fit and the freezer being a little cumbersome to neatly store items. However, these are all things that we knew of ahead of the purchase after seeing the fridge in person, so no room to complain. We have noticed that the french doors will prop open barely after a certain sequence of closing them. Not a big deal, but we had to get used to the routine of double checking them each time we closed the doors.
Overall this is a very nice refrigerator so far and we are happy with our purchase. In my opinion the regular price tag is a little steep for what you are buying, but if you can find it on sale (just wait...it will happen), it is worth the plunge.

Overall a nice product. When first delivered the ice maker never worked and BB had to send someone out to put in a new one so that was kind of a pain, but I really like the middle draw for cheese and lunch meat etc, It is nice to be able to have a place to put something like a large casserole dish that would not fit in my old side by side. The freezer might look a bit small, but it can really hold a lot and the extra draw is nice for organizing your frozen items

Beautiful but noisy

I bought this fridge from Pacfic Sales inside Best Buy to be a great staple in my new house and thought I was getting a beautiful and high quality refrigerator. I did get a beautiful fridge but am questioning the quality. This refrigerator is loud. The compressor is noisy when it is on not just with the typical droning sound but sometimes also with a high pitched hum. I was also periodically getting a loud noise that sounded like a card hitting bicycle spokes.
Long story shot, 2 weeks after I bought it I was told to call Service which sent out a repairman to look at the fridge. Naturally, it wasn't making the loud noise when he arrived nor could he find anything wrong other than some tape that had come up in the back which he patted back down. That did fix the card in the spoke sound but the loud compressor drone and high pitched hum still remains. The repairman (who was very nice) said this fridge has a multistage compressor and when its on the high stage you are going to hear it. So I guess this fridge just uses the high stage a lot and therefor, you hear it a lot?
My previous fridge was a GE Profile side-by-side and I never heard it unless I was right next to it and the compressor was running. My parent's have a french door LG refrigerator and it is as quiet as a mouse. To be fair, the LG french door design does have a flaw with their ice maker. They are known to freeze the ice door (in the door) shut which makes getting the ice bucket out very difficult. I believe this happens because they put the ice maker on the door which can't consistently keep the ice below freezing. Even with this flaw I would take their LG refrigerator over mine because it is quiet. It is a shame because this is such a beautiful refrigerator with a lot of promising features like the flex zone drawer.
I'm disappointed in Best Buy for not offering me exchange options (maybe this has something to do with Pacific Sales, I don't know) but I'm even more disappointed in Samsung. I've owned many Samsung TVs, phones, tablets, computers, etc. and expected this expensive refrigerator to provide a similar quality experience. Having a refrigerator that makes your guests ask "what is that noise" isn't a very good experience.
If I had a chance to look in the crystal ball before purchasing I would have bought a different fridge. I know my review was a little long and didn't go into the great features that this fridge does provide but I hope it helps.

At first we thought this was a noisy refrigerator, even though we were pleased with it otherwise. But we had the repairman out to look at it. It turns out that there was a water pipe in the back of it that was laying against the back panel and vibrating every time it came on. He fixed that and now we never hear it!

Very sleek and fits into the space perfectly! It's quiet and keeps food at the right temperature. It's not an issue for me, but the ice maker is small. It went on sale shortly after I made the purchase and Best Buy refunded me the difference. I love them!

This fridge is poorly designed and the ice/water dispenser is a joke. It drips constantly and the ice maker freezes up to the point you can't get the container out to dump the ice. It made a horrendous sound. After doing some research I found out that if I pull it out about 2" inches to give it more room to breathe, it went away. It's suppose to be designed for the tight spot available for a cabinet depth fridge. I absolutely would NOT purchase this fridge again. I'm so tired of cleaning up leaking water from the ice/water dispenser. I wouldn't even take it if it was free.

Fridge nice, ice maker is horrible

We've had our refrigerator for about eighteen months. The fridge looks great in our remodeled kitchen and fits nicely in the alcove we created. The ice maker has been a problem from the start. It constantly leaked. Having just replaced an eighteen year old fridge that the ice maker leaked, it took us a while to call geek squad. Geek squad responded quickly but it still leaks. We've scheduled our third service so hopefully it will fix it but I have little faith. The ice maker is poorly designed. Water is getting everywhere and keeps freezing up. I definitely would not purchase this fridge again and if possible I would return it.

Unreliable & very poor customer support

This fridge met our criteria and seemed great in the showroom. Six months in, and we're very disappointed. First, it lost the ability to regulate temperature; everything melted in the freezer and the cooler got too warm. We called Samsung customer and provided the error message from the display, but they kept trying to avoid doing anything about the problem -- blamed our wiring, the installers, etc. We had to argue to get a technician to come look at it, and he determined that a computer board went bad (within ~2 months). He seemed suspicious that we had done something malicious, but finally returned to replace the board. The freezer and fridge now work, but the drawer between (for cold-cuts, etc.) alternates. One day the meat and cheese will be frozen solid, another day they're fine. We haven't been able to get Samsung to agree that a problem exists.
Now the ice maker won't make ice. None.
To summarize, we would not buy this fridge again at even 1/4 the price. We suggest avoiding all models of Samsung refrigerators if for no other reason than the combative customer support.

We really want to love it but...
- The icemaker has been a continual problem. It produces approximately 6 cubes every 6 hours. According to specs, it should produce 6 cubes every 70 to 90 minutes. The icemaker has been replaced yet the problem persists.
- They told us the freezer might be too warm to make ice and had us set it at -2. When the tech came out, the actual freeezer temp is -9. We also began testing the refrigerator compartment and it varies from right on temp to + 6 degrees which is becoming an issue with food safety. (The refrigerator is set at 37 degrees which they say is optimal.)
- Samsung service is not the greatest. You call Samsung and then have to call an authorized service center. When you have problems such as we've had, you have to call multiple places (Samsung Cust. Svc., the outside group who handles scheduling and repair, then Samsung Exec. Cust. Support# and do continual updates and you often hear a different "story" .
- It took me numerous calls and asking questions to finally get to the bottom of the issue... they now think the Main PCB #"the brains" of the system) needs replacing.
- Now we have to wait another 3 days for them to get this part in so the total time from the initial repair call to hopefully getting the problem fixed is 14 days.
As it stands now, our unit is not functioning properly -- thankfully we have a second refrigerator in the house. Maybe it will be fixed by the end of the week.

I was extremely excited to get this fridge. I love Samsung's new design with the flex drawer. It's very useful for keeping meat at the perfect temperature or storing items that you used often.
My good comments end there... The first day we got it, we noticed that the fridge will randomly start rumbling/rattling. We called the guys at Pacific Appliances, and told us not to worry, it's a common thing in Samsung fridges. We also noticed that the ice setting keeps reverting back to crushed ice from cubed. The technician came by today to fix the issue. Turns out that we need a new compressor and new display plate. It will take them a week to get the new parts and re-install. In the meantime, we are stuck with the haunted fridge.
After spending so much on a fridge, I would expect everything to be in perfect working condition. I'll update my review after the technician comes out again to fix everything - which I hope they can.

I bought this refrigerator to replace an 11-year old Kenmore Elite counter depth. I intended to purchase an entirely different brand, but when I saw this model sitting on the Best Buy showroom floor at $1316, I couldn't pass it up. Just a small dent at the top of the right door allowed it to be deeply discounted and I cover that area with family pics anyway (taped, since this fridge front isn't magnetic). The flex door is a nice feature and is useful to switch from fridge to freezer depending on needs. The French door setup took some getting used to as I transitioned from a side-by-side, but I find that there is a lot more interior space. Quantity of ice is lacking, but I just bag some up in a large ziploc for backup and we do fine in our family of 3. I would definitely not pay full price for this fridge. The front of the doors seem hollow when you press on them when cleaning and it just doesn't seem to be an upscale fridge in overall quality, but I can't complain for the price I paid. Satisfied with my purchase.

In our search to find the perfect Counter Depth Fridge we wanted a French Door unit with it's easy access to items we access most often. The fridge looks great and it a perfect fit as we wanted that sleek look that only a counter depth offers. The inside is ergonomically pleasing and has a great amount of storage for a 24 cu ft unit.
My only apprehension with this unit was the ice maker and it turned out to be the reason we sent this unit back. First, they stick this obtrusive box in the upper right hand corner in prime real estate territory on the box. A like most French door units out, this is a self contained cooling ice maker tasked to create and store ice in the refrigerated section of your box. (Bad Idea) Other than being a small collection tray, this unit NEVER makes ice!! We would sarcastically erupt in cheers if you were lucky enough to get a few pieces of "wet" ice as it was equivalent to winning the lottery in terms of the odds of that happening. Samsung ended up sending a tech out and after replacing the Ice unit, and system board, we had still a non working unit. In addition to not having ice, the water is never cold. In my opinion, the ice machine needs to stay in the freezer section where it's cold.
We are now in the process of exchanging the unit with a Frigidaire brand that has an option for a freezer based ice maker. Samsung...great TV's, but terrible french door refrigerators!

Samsung run-around

This refrigerator is nice looking and the space is well utilized for a counter depth. I find the French door model much better in space then a side by side. However shortly after the one year mark the ice maker started having serious problems. Fortunately I had Samsung's extended warranty (2 yrs) They told me the motor burned out and replaced it, 1 week later same problem - replaced entire ice maker unit. Motor burned out again. They could not find anyone one else to come out so I was informed that I would get an " accommodation" of either a full refund or a new refrigerator Well for the last 2 1/2 months I have been told by Samsung that someone will have an answer for me within 24-48 hours as to which accommodation they will do. I sent them the bill of sale they requested and 3x's they asked for it again! Today I get a message saying I have no further warranty and they can find no one to fix it so my case is closed. My warranty ends June 30, 2018! So the battle continues. Buyer beware - Samsung has a friendly staff who acts like they care but all you get is a total run-around
