      Read issue 2 for the main problems. I WOULD STAY AWAY if you like ice Writing on 7/23/2018 - Purchased on 9/1/2016 We (especially the wife) initially loved this refrigerator. It's beautiful / well lit, keeps food cold and overall met our needs. I read the reviews regarding the some of the issues regarding proper sealing on the ice machine, but I figured we take GREAT care of our items and we weren't going to have that issue. Issue 1 - about 1 year into ownership, we came home and found a small puddle of water underneath the fridge. Luckily, we weren't gone for an extended period of time and many of the things inside the fridge didn't go bad, but somehow/someway the fridge automatically switched itself into DEMO mode (which means it wasn't going to cool anything). We didn't have a power outage, and nothing tripped, this just happened. Fortunately this issue hasn't repeated itself, but I thought it was worth mentioning. Issue 2 and the same one I read about in many of the negative reviews - the sealant around the ice machine – more specifically (I think) outside of the ice machine (IT) and between IT and the fridge door. Although convenient, if you really step back and think about it, having the ice machine housed in the refrigerator vs the freezer is a poor design. If there is ANY failure with any of the manufacturing of sealants or improper use of the refrigerator, you can easily encounter issues with your ice machine. Anyways - about a month or so ago, we started noticing water leaking each time we would start the ice machine. We realized that little pieces of ice would get stuck between the ice machine and the door (there is a trap door outside the actual ice machine and the exiting portion of the fridge door, that I’m assuming is supposed to be kept cold enough through the sealant). Since for some reason the sealant isn’t sealing appropriately, it’s not keeping the “freezing” temperature needed and when you start the ice machine, thus opening the trap door, a good amount of water comes falling out. If that’s not bad enough, I also noticed that our ice was coming out more crumbled looking than ever before. I turned off the ice machine and took out the ice bucket. There were clear signs of melted ice and icicles inside the ice machine. I emptied out the tub and cleaned out all of the icicles and mess that existed. I dried all components and I reentered everything into the fridge. I kept the ice machine OFF for a full 24 hours to ensure that I can let it get back up to temperatures. Afterwards, I turned the ice machine back on, hoping that my issues would be behind me. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case and the entire problem has reappeared. After doing some research, it’s clear that the issue has to do with the sealing piece on the outside of the ice machine and attached to the door – letting in non-freezing temperatures and therefore causing the ice to melt. I will add pictures in the coming days to show how you can clearly see water droplets around the sealant and how the ice is being caught / melted in between the ice machine and the trap door. This needs to be fixed!

      Beautiful but noisy

      I bought this fridge from Pacfic Sales inside Best Buy to be a great staple in my new house and thought I was getting a beautiful and high quality refrigerator. I did get a beautiful fridge but am questioning the quality. This refrigerator is loud. The compressor is noisy when it is on not just with the typical droning sound but sometimes also with a high pitched hum. I was also periodically getting a loud noise that sounded like a card hitting bicycle spokes. Long story shot, 2 weeks after I bought it I was told to call Service which sent out a repairman to look at the fridge. Naturally, it wasn't making the loud noise when he arrived nor could he find anything wrong other than some tape that had come up in the back which he patted back down. That did fix the card in the spoke sound but the loud compressor drone and high pitched hum still remains. The repairman (who was very nice) said this fridge has a multistage compressor and when its on the high stage you are going to hear it. So I guess this fridge just uses the high stage a lot and therefor, you hear it a lot? My previous fridge was a GE Profile side-by-side and I never heard it unless I was right next to it and the compressor was running. My parent's have a french door LG refrigerator and it is as quiet as a mouse. To be fair, the LG french door design does have a flaw with their ice maker. They are known to freeze the ice door (in the door) shut which makes getting the ice bucket out very difficult. I believe this happens because they put the ice maker on the door which can't consistently keep the ice below freezing. Even with this flaw I would take their LG refrigerator over mine because it is quiet. It is a shame because this is such a beautiful refrigerator with a lot of promising features like the flex zone drawer. I'm disappointed in Best Buy for not offering me exchange options (maybe this has something to do with Pacific Sales, I don't know) but I'm even more disappointed in Samsung. I've owned many Samsung TVs, phones, tablets, computers, etc. and expected this expensive refrigerator to provide a similar quality experience. Having a refrigerator that makes your guests ask "what is that noise" isn't a very good experience. If I had a chance to look in the crystal ball before purchasing I would have bought a different fridge. I know my review was a little long and didn't go into the great features that this fridge does provide but I hope it helps.

      Two Units, Two Separate Problems

      We've had two units, and had two separate problems. The first unit had an ice maker that was leaking all of the time. The ice maker made a combination of cubed and crushed ice at the same time with the ice is self not being fully frozen. The maker also left a trail of "icee" in the shoot that would only melt and cause even more leaking on the inside of the refrigerator as well as the ice and water area. This happened right out of the box so we exchanged it right away. Sadly, the pictures were deleted once we received the replace. The second unit arrived and at first it seemed to be fine with the ice maker working as expected. But within a few days we realized there was a problem yet again with this model. The refrigerator doors were not sealing. This as well happened within the allowed return period, so like the earlier unit this one will also be returned. However this time we are going with the 4 door LG, and we can only hope the new LG comes without any issues. We are not fans of extended warranties, but the new refrigerator is coming with one! Because I believe we were fortunate to have found both of these issues within the 15 day return window, because for the price tag of these type of refrigerators there shouldn't be anything wrong with them, especially right off the truck.

      2 year update: why did we buy it?

      After 15 years we finally decided to replace our old refrigerator. After walking through the best buy store we feel in love with the design of this samsung refrigerator. Ours is an older model but looks exactly like the one shown. The design was gorgeous, the compartments were fantastic and it was a samsung. We knew the brand was reliable for things like phones and TVs and we were a little skeptical buy we went with it and we are not ones to buy warranty we always thought it was a waste of money but something told me let's just get it since we weren't familiar with Samsung in the appliance arena. A couple days later after we got our beautiful fridge I was showing a friend and she looked at me like oh boy. She said she bought the same one a year prior and it was already giving her problems and she regretted not buying the warranty. After my stomach dropped for a second I felt a sense of relief cause we bought the warranty. This fridge is quite a bit of work. You need the extensive filter every other month it seems like and about 8 months ago All of a sudden it went caput. The ice machine was acting slowly and water tasted different. New filter? Maybe ok let's change it again. But over time we noticed the ice doesn't work as well as it use too, the water started tasting different and the temperature in the fridge started to change. We thought we were crazy but in the last two months it went totally downhill. No ice. Barely water but im not drinking it and the fridge isn't cold anymore. We decided to empty the whole fridge from top to bottom and disconnect it maybe a reboot if you will would help. Nope. Same performance. Finally I called our warranty and they came out 2 days later. He technician stated we needed new parts for the ice maker and the something about the fridge not knowing it's cold I cant remember. Why i cant remember because this was 3 weeks ago!!!! Parts are on back order till the 25th of this month and we are forced to be without a workin fridge. I'm pregnant with a 5 year old. Never again will we ever buy samsung for appliances. I'm sticking to phones and TVs. My recommendation. Do not buy. Stick to the old reliables.

      This Fridge Looks good and for the options that area availabile. I was sad to see the 3-door version of the counter depth to be such a sub par model compared to its standard depth counterpart. (i.e.- incandescent lights vs. new l.e.d., and front door panel display) Because of this we were left to choose the more expensive 4-door model. In our endeavers, we discovered that Samsung has terrible quality controls on all of these fridges in regards to specified installation dimensions and fitment. Both models received specify a manufactured width of 35 3/4" and 35 5/8" and a required opening of 36" or greater. Our opening of course was 36" and the fridge wouldn't fit. After 4 different fridges all of the same line and two model numbers, I noted using a 3' straight edge, that each of the sidewalls on all of them had any where from 3/16" to 1/2" of bulge from the edge to the center, and/or ice box region depending on the side. Because of this, the actual overall dimension was always at or slightly over the stated 36" fitment envelope. This most likely happens due to the epanding insulation process during manufacturing and over insulation. One could take this as a positive to energy efficiency for the fridge, but if you have right at or near a 36" opening buyer BEWARE...or be ready to tear out one of the sheets of drywall. In the end, It fit for us, but not after a slight mess and negative comments from BB stating that "this is how they all are anymore". Sorry to say, but that is not a position that you're entitled to take when the manufacturer states the required opening size and you verify my measurements as correct. My recommendation is to defer back to the manufacturer so they can make adjustments to their specs or review their QC rather than tell me what model YOU think I need to buy.

      Every time I get ice, I swear I am going to review this refrigerator so other people are aware of the problem that I have with it. So finally after owning it for 7 months, I finally got around to it. The ice maker is very small as are the ice cubes. Literally, you can only fill 4-5 glasses before the ice is depleted. It seems to take forever for the ice to eject, certainly a lot longer than any other I have operated. And because the ice cubes are so small, they melt very quickly. So, to fix this problem, I purchased an ice maker bin and put it in the top drawer of the freezer section, which uses up quite a bit of space that would ordinarily be used for frozen items.. Now I use the ice from my garage refrigerator's freezer to replenish the ice in the new freezer. Something that greatly disappoints me in a refrigerator that costs over $3k. It is very attractive, however, the shelves in the refrigerator section cannot be moved and there is very limited space for tall items. The door compartments are a joke. There is one section that you cannot put anything in. I do like the drawer for storing frequently used items. However, the description of the '4 temperature-controlled zones' makes it appear that each of the zones can be separately controlled, which I thought was a really great feature and was probably the reason for the high price. NOT SO. Apparently, what they mean is there are 4 different temperatures that you can select from for the entire drawer, even though there are 2 sliding dividers that make the drawer have 4 different areas. Quite misleading, imao. At first, I thought the freezer was way to small, but it really does hold a lot more that it looks like it would. I should have sent it back because of the ice problem, but I guess I was just lazy and found a solution, however, I would never recommend this refrigerator for the price. If it was, say half the price, it might be worth it, but I expected a lot more for $3,500.

      Jury still out...getting replaced for 2nd time

      We purchased this refrigerator because Samsung has a stellar reputation, we own several Samsung electronics, and the rating is 4.4 on Best Buy reviews. It's beautiful, the ice maker works (which is why we replaced our old one), it runs quietly, and it is laid out efficiently. We appreciate the counter depth. One of the main "draws" of this refrigerator is the middle drawer. We drink a lot of smoothies, so this drawer would be perfect for keeping several bags of frozen fruit for easy access. That would then free up the freezer space for meat/ice cream/etc. The issue is that the middle drawer is not living up to expectations. It has four temperature settings - with the lowest being (-1) degrees. That implies maintaining a freezing temperature. The lower freezer is set at zero degrees, and everything is frozen solid. However, the middle drawer does not reach that (-1) degrees. All of the fruit melts...and that definitely results in a mess as well as eventual spoilage. We've noted the issue within the first 15 days of installation both times, and we had already purchased the 5-year Geek Squad plan. Geek Squad has been great, and they've been quick to schedule a replacement. I'm a frustrated consumer, but I still feel guilty having a 3rd refrigerator delivered within a 30-day window! I hope this isn't a design flaw...and Samsung over-sold the capabilities of that middle drawer. If the 3rd refrigerator works, then this becomes a 4-star rating. Otherwise, we will be looking at a different model, and Samsung will have a black mark on the reputation for not delivering on what's advertised.

      Lack of Quality Control

      We really want to love it but... - The icemaker has been a continual problem. It produces approximately 6 cubes every 6 hours. According to specs, it should produce 6 cubes every 70 to 90 minutes. The icemaker has been replaced yet the problem persists. - They told us the freezer might be too warm to make ice and had us set it at -2. When the tech came out, the actual freeezer temp is -9. We also began testing the refrigerator compartment and it varies from right on temp to + 6 degrees which is becoming an issue with food safety. (The refrigerator is set at 37 degrees which they say is optimal.) - Samsung service is not the greatest. You call Samsung and then have to call an authorized service center. When you have problems such as we've had, you have to call multiple places (Samsung Cust. Svc., the outside group who handles scheduling and repair, then Samsung Exec. Cust. Support# and do continual updates and you often hear a different "story" . - It took me numerous calls and asking questions to finally get to the bottom of the issue... they now think the Main PCB #"the brains" of the system) needs replacing. - Now we have to wait another 3 days for them to get this part in so the total time from the initial repair call to hopefully getting the problem fixed is 14 days. As it stands now, our unit is not functioning properly -- thankfully we have a second refrigerator in the house. Maybe it will be fixed by the end of the week.
