This TV replaced a 43" Samsung Plasma. I read lots of reviews before making this purchase but was still nervous about the picture quality. It's one thing to view the TV in the store and another to hope it looks that good in your living room. This new TV is connected to a Leaf Arial, a six year old ROKU, and an XBOX 1. My concern was the dreaded blur that would occur on this 60 motion refresh rate screen. NO PROBLEM! The picture is awesome. It's significantly better than the 4 year old plasma TV it's replacing.

One of the best things about 4K televisions is that they are depressing the costs of 1080p televisions. While 4K offers a superior visual picture and can do well to upgrade non-4K signals, there is little in the way of 4K source material. So while we wait for programming and technology to catch up to 4K or 8K in 10 years, we still have 1080p, which itself is rarely even broadcasted in (pretty much just blu-rays). This Samsung television offers a great picture for movies and sports. I stepped up from a 37" 720p tv to this. Only 60 Hertz, not 120 Hertz, there will be a little blur with fast motions in sports, however, I have not noticed much in the way of blur in action movies. Streaming Netflix or Amazon HD or watching a Blu-ray offers a remarkable picture. HD on sat tv, not quite as nice, but still very pleasant. The television can output digital signals (DTS) to a receiver via the digital optical output, which is good for those with a soundbar or an old school receiver. This means as long as you have an HDMI hooked from the source to the TV, you can get great audio sent to your audio only receiver (soundbar). The Smart Hub offers a lot of apps, I haven't found anything that I needed that wasn't available. As far as calibration, I have it set to the preset Movie and haven't fooled around with anything else. I use an audio receiver, so I don't use the speakers on the television so I can't speak as to the quality of the sound. Of the negatives, I have noticed that the television loses color warmth while watching from angles, once you are a few feet lateral from the edge of the screen (a big screen!), but it isn't what I would consider too much loss. Also, the older Samsungs if you open the Smart Hub, the software takes a while to load and it is shown with a revolving circle. Once the software is ready, the Hub pops up and you are good to go. With the new set up, it offers you the online streaming options immediately, however, if you try to open Amazon or any other app, and the core software isn't loaded yet, it will tell you it isn't ready yet, and it won't tell you when it is. So when turning on the tv, you need to wait a minute or so to start the Smart app section. There are only two HDMI connections on the television, which is limiting (I went from a 2 HDMI to 2 HDMI, so it wasn't that big of a deal for me), however, it does limit options unless you can get an HDMI switch, which aren't pricey, but you start running out of outlets quickly. Overall, very happy with this television. Have had it for over a month now and the screen is big, the picture quality very nice. It isn't 4K, but honestly, not much is anyway.

This was the perfect choice for our needs. We weren't ready to make the leap to 4K at this time and of the 1080p screens this had the best price amongst the more reputable manufacturers. Once we got it home, we were impressed with the picture, which didn't need any adjustment except for one of the auto choice options (we picked "natural"). We were very surprised with the sound quality with just the built in speakers. We live in a condo and don't go with sound bars or surround sound systems due to noise/neighbor issues. The built in speakers gave a good range and are more than adequate unless you're setting up a large living/media room. If I had any improvements to suggest, I would add one additional HDMI port.

Out of the box set up was very easy. Picture is awesome after turning the brightness and color down to get rid of the bloom affect. For a tv at $549 It really was the best buy out there.

Amazing TV for under $550...great picture and sound! The only issue I have that the WatchESPN app is not available on the Smart Hub. Hopefully it will come soon!

Here are a few insights I've found, which may aid others in making a decision. Make certain that if you intend to mount this television, you first connect all cables before hanging, this will make connecting everything a bit simpler. I purchased a tilting mount, that helped a bit, but reaching the HDMI connectors is difficult once mounted. There is no ARC for the HDMI, so if you want to hear audio from your receiver, you will need to use and audio optical cable, as this television also has no RCA out either. Picture settings will need to be tweaked, as the only default optimum option is DYNAMIC. Movie,Standard,Natural all have a tint that can be changed. I personally don't care for the warm and like the cool setting much better. But the picture is very nice and clear, much better than LCD. The audio built in speakers are actually pretty good, I was enjoying the volume and at one point kept lowering my Receiver, thinking that's what was causing the sound to be so loud, only to realize it was the built in tv speakers. I wouldn't ever recommend pushing them to the limit, as most built in speakers tend to give regardless of brand or design. This television has a PIP (picture in picture) feature that can be activated by going to the tool setting, it's not a quick button activation, that I would have preferred, but I don't mind going through hoops, each time for the PIP, since it's a hidden surprise feature. I am still exploring and playing with all the settings and tweaking to my personal style. This tv also offers the ability to save settings for display to each device connected. This is my first SMART Tv, so I have no comparison to offer, aside from I'm enjoying my apps being available on this unit. Only reason I'm not giving this a 5 star is because it's missing audio RCA outputs, it may not be a fair enough reason, but I'm tough on reviews.

Good TV for the money, sound good & Image good. Sound is very clear and the image is clear for a TV of this price.

Best TV in the store today. Picture was better than many of the 4k tv's. I absolutely love Samsung and don't know why people buy other brands.

Big screen for a low price.. beware. HDMI ports only work occasionaly.Turn it on one time HDMI port 1 is out. Next time it may be number 2 or both. Finally got it connected to internet. So slow it wouldn't stream a Netflix movie without buffering every few seconds. When going through my Roku3 it streamed fine with no buffering. On the positive side, tv has a beautiful picture. Geek Squad say bring it back for exchange. Will see how the next one does.

Picture quality good but the smart hub disconnects sometimes which is bothersome.

I am very happy that I got this TV. The screen size of the TV and colors are fantastic. The TV has great choices for the brightness. The quality of the sound is great, especially when you have it on "movie" and the volume is very loud. The remote is very simple to use. You definitely will not be disappointed with this one.

I love my new tv it is a great starter tv compared to my old tv. Great picture!

I have had this tv for a week now, and it is a good tv if that is what you are buying it for, but if you are buying it for the smart hub features, you might have some issues. My issue was with the Netfiix app. When you use it, it locks your tv up. You have to unplug the tv to reset it. The one issue I had with this problem was that tech support tried to say that it was what I had plugged in to my HDMI ports. I am using high-end cables, and I only have issues when I use the netflix app. I do not know about the other apps, because I have not used them. As far as the tv, It was very easy to setup, and overall, the tv has a good picture and sound. I am amazed how much better things look on this tv. I do like the fact that if I have a problem, tech support (with your permission) can remote in and do what they have to do. I would give this tv 5 stars if they fix the app issues. I would recommend to a fried if they only want a tv.

Tv was easy to connect to the internet. The clarity of the picture is good. It's an over all great TV for the price.

Definitely worth every penny spent. Sharp picture, brilliant colors, and good sound.
