    Out of the box review

Doorbuster deal. Just finished setting it up. Very easy to unbox. Just cut the straps, open the top and pull out the styrofoam and then lift the box over the TV. Hooked it all up and turned on. Gives you an option to use manual setup of use of SmartThings app on the phone. I tried the app, could not get it to set up. App uses Bluetooth to find your TV. But must use the network for setup. Even with the TV plugged into the network, it went to use WIFI. Logged both phone and TV into same WIFI, All attempts failed. Had to manually set it up. Painful using the remote to type everything in. After setup it used the ethernet connection. Pros: Color looks good. Whites are not as bright/sharp as other TV's which I think also causes the flesh tones to be bit off. I have yet to make any adjustments. Motion is smooth. Blacks look pretty good. Sound is very good. Can't wait to see how the football games will look on it. Cons: only 2 HDMI ports; Power cord is on opposite side from component hookups making it not as tidy as it should be; Smartthings app failed. WIFI does not support 5 gigahertz. No power indicator to as you wait for the screen to show up to know if you pushed the remote's power button or not. Overall for a 70" it is a good choice for the average user at a great entry price for that size.

Pros) 1. Cheap. Who can beat $549? 2. Large screen. 70" will be enough for years. 3. Smart TV. 4. ARC works well. TV sound fed to the receiver without the optical cable. Netflix sound also fed to the receiver through ARC. Cons) 1. UI is terrible. Who designed the UI? They need to be fired. 2. UI response is laggy. I've used Apple TV for long time. It couldn't be snappier. But Samsung UI is terrible. It's almost unusable. 3. No bolts were included for wall mount. I had to run to a big box store to install the TV. Why didn't Samsung include the bolts? 4ea of M8 x 1.25mm pitch x 40mm length bolts were needed as I put 17mm rubber bumper. If you don't use bumper, the bolts need to be only 23mm.

Amazing Deal for a TV of this Quality

Why should my opinion matter to you? So I pulled out the TV, hooked it up, went through the set-up menus and then immediately pulled my Bluray Calibration discs out and started messing with the settings. These discs help me get more natural colors, more balanced contrasts, etc from a picture. I have another 4K lower-end TV from another manufacturer that could not get the picture close no matter what I did… however this TV is quite different. I’m still tweaking it and trying different settings, but overall, for what I paid, this thing is impressive. My last great TV was a 1700+ purchase from 6 years ago. I spent countless hours comparing reviews, settings and in-store displays before I pulled the trigger. It literally shocked 4K fans as to how good that one was even though it was only 1080p... This TV is very similar in quality, but a tinch better or worse in a few minor ways. This one fades if you're sitting a bit to the sides… but not enough to kill the picture. The settings are a bit touchier, but usually get me extremely close to what is considered optimal settings. The sound is significantly better than I expected, though it won’t hold a candle to a sound bar or surround sound system. Yes, it has 2 HDMI, but I only need one as it connects to my receiver. Look, be honest in what you’re looking for. The only bad reviews for this TV so far have been from people with unrealistic expectations. You’re not getting a 2500+ dollar product here. You’re getting a good screen and decent settings for a minimal price. So far, WALL-E, my PS4 Pro enhanced games and my calibration discs all looked gorgeous. Streaming Disney+ through my PS4 to the TV only lacked in quality due to my struggling router, but the TV did great. I didn’t see ghosting, artifacts, mismatched colors, etc. There's a tiny bit of washed out brighter colors on some higher settings though that I'm still trying to figure out... and I have yet to test the true blacks with a sci-fi film. Soap Opera Effect: This has the option to keep it on, turn it off or adjust it to your own personal liking. I’m still torn. Putting it at a 1 (out of 10) takes just a tiny bit of the edge off of faster scenes, but going to 2 or above gives the soap opera effect that I hate so, so much, but if you love it, you'll be thrilled as it's super clean-looking. So for me, I would normally turn it off, but the functionality of the setting at the lowest point has given me pause to consider it. It’s just enough to actually be helpful without killing the quality of the movie for me… However, having it off, I saw no major motion quality issues anyway. BUT, like the Fast Motion Options, some of the settings were just too powerful on their own. Colors DID need to be calibrated or they were too strong or too weak. The remote isn’t anything to write home about and to be honest, I’ll probably replace it over time… But spend a little time, give it a little love, and it should treat you right! If you want something to pull out of a box without having to do anything else, feel free to spend significantly more for similar results. For the price, I'm very, very pleased.

Fantastic TV at a Great Price!

Purchased for $550 on door buster pricing. I have been using it constantly for the last six days. No quality issues whatso ever. Ignore the naysayers, the picture and performance are rock solid with one minor exception, the menus can be a little slow at times. Yeah, it has only 2 HDMI ports, but knew that going into the purchase. Not a big deal. Grab one on Black Friday if you can! Would highly recommend. I wish I had bought two of them!

I purchased this with my fiancé as our first TV in our first home together. We could not be more pleased. Set up was easy. Sound works great, and the picture looks clear. We probably would not have purchased if it wasn't for the great price, but it was well worth it for $549. My brother bought one as well for his home and also appears very happy with it. I do agree that I wish it had more than 2 HDMI ports and I can see why people are upset about no Bluetooth. For my fiancé and I, we aren't plugging much in since we use all streaming services that are already downloaded as apps on this Smart TV.

Just upgraded from a 55" insignia (bought on black Friday 2 years ago, has been a great TV) had this 70" up for a couple of days now, and honestly can't complain. Lost a star for having only 2 HDMIs. Really odd in this day and age, but oh well. Installed the app on my phone; meh, seems more like a gimmick than useful. All in all seems like a right smart purchase so far.

It's been 4 years since purchased. Good enough for the price I paid. Just a little bit of slow reaction when you try to use explorer on TV. Other than that, I would say all good.
