Buggy at launch - 2 month review

Background: I am on my 7th or 8th Samsung tv purchase over the past decade. I replaced a 2017 75" Q7F with this 75" Q900a. Was that replacement worth it? Not quite. My reason for this upgrade was to maintain the one connect box setup I had with the Q7F but wanted the mini led technology and needed at least x2 hdmi 2.1 ports and this is the only samsung model that has x4 hdmi 2.1 in the US, else I would have saved some cash and purchased the 4k equivalent if it existed. Not so good: I bought this set 1 week after it released. It arrived a week later and the software was slow and buggy. 8k content did not display properly. Updated the software to latest at that time and it helped. Game mode when using PlayStation 5 and Xbox series X causes the source to scan and lose picture momentarily or simply cannot find the source at all when the device is on and game mode is enabled. Sonos Arc soundbar connected via hdmi eARC occasionally drops sound momentarily. Intermittent notifications on screen that network cable disconnected and reconnected, even though that isn't the case nor do I have home network issues. Also experienced an issue with the panel itself where backlighting was not fully lit or something of the sort (pictures). Fast forward to today after 2 or 3 software updates: still have most issues described, mostly with the source identification, sound drops, and network disconnect, where I find that I must reset the tv by holding power on the remote to resolve most issues. Good: Picture quality is outstanding which is to be expected. HDR luminance is BRIGHT at the peak 2000 nits. Black levels are very good but some slight blooming is still visible but better than any other LCD tv I have owned. Anti reflective coating performs great as I have this tv adjacent to a large window. Daytime viewing is a non-issue. Verdict: With my experience thus far, the cost of this tv, and the overall lack of 8k content, this tv is hard to recommend at this point in time. x4 hdmi 2.1 really drove me to buy this display as I did not want oled but if this is not a concern of yours, this tv simply doesn't make sense for most.

Love this TV. Picture quality is unbelievable. The infinity display is incredible. The TV is thin but you must have a separate hub that connects via a single plug. The only reason I did not give 5 stars is because the of the extremely high price for this unit. As incredible as this TV is, I think the price coupd have been lowered to around 3500.00

This TV is great if you're upgrading after 5-8 years - then there are massive differences and features. The main factor for us to upgrade we were switching our aesthetics of our living room and wanted a complete flush look when the tv is mounted on the wall. Being 8k the tv screen I feel it gives out a lot of heat, just keep that in mind. we have this tv for about more than a year and the only issue we have from an app based is Paramount+ - I think its the app nothing to do with Samsung it just doesn't work all the time which is really weird. Im also sure with the now reduce price as the model is older its worth for the now price

Beautiful 75 inch Samsung 8K! Upgraded to this from a 65 inch and newer version and am absolutely loving it. Geek squad came and installed the wall mount and tv and hooked up well worth the money. 8K on YouTube is amazing and the picture quality on normal streaming channels is great. Gaming is insane and one of my favs!

After spending some time with the TV, I can confidently say that this is one of the best, if not THE best TV I have had the pleasure of experiencing. Starting with the exterior this TV is impressively thin. I am particularly happy with how thin the TV looks across the board and not in just a certain spot like other units out there. I’ll also say that the TV stand is really nice, though my personal thoughts are a TV this beautiful and thin absolutely deserves to be wall mounted. On the wall itself you can really see that beautiful edge to edge display. Using the ambient mode, this TV can seriously look like a (giant) piece of beautiful art on the wall. After spending some time with the TV, I can confidently say that this is one of the best, if not THE best TV I have had the pleasure of experiencing. I’ve personally never seen an 8K TV before and had a bit of concern with how well the TV would handle upscaling content. My wife loves rewatching her late 90s/early 00s drama shows (hello OTH reruns) and would immediately groan if her content looked worse on a bigger TV. I’m VERY happy that my concern was immediately tossed out when watching her shows. Not only did SD content look very watchable and good on the TV, but even watching 1080p content saw a boost in clarity. Watching native 8K content can seriously feel like being transported to another world. I say that as most 8K content available (through YT or via download) consists of a lot of nature/wildlife videos. I never thought I needed 8K in my life as 4K is still excellent, but 8K resolution content just adds so much dimension that it really does feel like a literal jump, similar to how 4K did in comparison to 1080p. I also need to touch on the HDR capabilities of this TV and let me preface this by saying that this TV is BRIGHT! Even in the brightest room we have in our house, with 3 large windows pouring in tons of natural light, this TV got bright enough to seriously make your eyes squint at times. There is absolutely no loss of detail/highlights by watching in a bright room. I will say to go into the menu settings and tweak the calibration to your liking, especially if viewing in a darker room as again, this TV can get extremely bright. This TV is also a complete beast when it comes to gaming. Game mode creates a stellar input-lag minimum experience at both 4k/120fps and 8k/60fps. This TV does a phenomenal job when it comes to gaming. With game mode on, the input lag is reduced to the point where it feels like the controller is directly connected, and opens up gaming to be both 4k/120fps and 8k/60fps. 8K gaming is something words really don’t do justice. Seeing every single detail is out of this world, and it’s only limited by the performance cost that comes with native 8K gaming. Again, Samsung are wizards when it comes to upscaling because there is no loss of sharpness or clarity with lesser resolutions. Overall I am extremely satisfied with my purchase of the TV. It not only checks all the boxes of me as a cutting edge gamer, but also covers the bases of ensuring a seamless and enjoyable experience for my wife. Samsung really thought about the future when putting out this TV. Externally, this thing is simply a beauty with it’s bezel-less design, sleek and thin form factor, and even the eco-friendly steps such as the usb-C AND solar charging remote. This TV is truly a luxury, and is one of the best home theater experiences that is hard to beat or replicated. For those on the fence, trust me when I say it’s worth jumping over. The grass is definitely greener, bright, AND clearer on the other side. *Note: I reviewed this unit as part of a promotional insiders program

I've owned this tv for about a week or so and I can honestly say I've never owned a tv this amazing before. First off, the picture is just unbelievable, I can't wait until there's 8K content for me to view, but even 4K looks better on this than it does on my other 4K tv's. Secondly, there are a ton of app that are pretty fun to play with, from the art apps to the exercise apps. Who knew I could exercise side by side with Jillian Michaels in my living room? Very cool! The tv was easy to set up, and very intuitive. The remote is solar which is a cool feature that should be included with every tv being manufactured right now. The availability of multiple inputs in awesome, no more switching between the video game systems anymore, they can all stay plugged in to use. Overall, it's a great tv, and I'm thankful to own it.

Great to hear that you are loving the picture of your QN900A Neo QLED TV brought to you by 8K AI Upscaling and Real 8K Resolution. Every frame has 33 million pixels that provide an incredible sense of depth and clarity, all with four times the resolution of 4K. I’m glad you are also enjoying the screen mirroring feature. Have you tried Multi View which allows you to see up to 4 sources at once? or Tap View with allows you to mirror your phone on your TV with just a tap.

This TV lives up to the hype but the only issue has been the one connect box. Mine stopped connecting to any HDMI sources, rendering all my devices useless. Other than the box, the TV is great! Colors, brightness, and picture quality are top notch. It does have blooming during black or dark scenes.

Splurged and purchased this 8K tv. Wow! Even though not everything is streamed in 8k, the picture is amazing. Everything is so crisp and vivid; sometimes things seem almost three dimensional. Took off one star for price (but expect to pay more fir new models) and for the volume control on the remote being less than ideal (if you hold it too long it takes you to the accessibility menu. I suspect I’ll get use to it). By the way, had the tech team take care of delivery and mounting the tv on the wall. They did a fantastic job.

Great pic, - so far performing well. Chose this 8K mostly because it fit in my “restoration hardware” entertainment center/bookshelf. It was between this and the Sony 8K OLED. I think the reviews on Sony was better, however Sony put a tad more pic frame around the screen cause it to be another 1/2” wider. Which I would have had to drop down to a 70” and I wanted max screen size for my space. The Samsung has separate motherboard, which I located with the Denon 4700, however this cannot sit on top of Denon. The Samsung motherboard assembly makes a lot of HEAT very hot to the touch. So I have since installed cooling fans to reject the heat, since my bookshelf space is so constrained . purchased in Aug of 21 and it’s dropped over $1K is price already. This is disappointing too. That they don’t hold their value very long. Great pic, works fine. Not so great price/cost benefit

      Hi Bowtie,

Thank you for choosing Samsung's QN900A TV and for your review. With our Infinity One Design, your new TV is as elegant as it is powerful with an ultra-slim profile and modern design to enhance your space.

Watching TV for an extended period of time causes the panel to generate heat. The heat from the panel is dissipated through internal vents running along the top of the TV. The bottom, however, may feel hot to the touch after extended use. This heat, however, is not a defect and does not affect the TV's functionality.

When installing your TV, please make sure you have maintained a distance of at least 4 inches between the TV and other objects (walls, cabinet sides, etc.) to ensure proper ventilation. Failing to
maintain proper ventilation may result in a problem with the product caused by an increase in its internal temperature.
