I love this fitness watch. It's very intuitive and easy to use. There are so many features, you just pick and choose what's important to you. A lot of the information it collects is automatic. Like exercises for instants, it will automatically figure what activity you're doing and track it. It syncs seamlessly with the S Health app on my S7 phone. I really like the Spotify music feature where you can download music to the wristband so you can listen to music without having to have your phone with you. Built-in GPS is great (again you don't need your phone for it to track a ride, walk or run. Another neat thing is that you can customize displays to your liking, use power saving options to extend battery life (without using power savings my Gear Fit2 lasts about 3 days between charging). Oh, and the charging cradle it comes with is easy and cool to use. It also charges from low to full charge very quickly (around a half hour).
The "except" part...the band clasping design sucks! It comes un-clasped very easily and boom like that you've lost a $180 piece of wearable technology. I had to purchase (from Amazon) these little silicone rings (MDW Security Fix Clasp for Gear Fit Band -- Don't Lose Your $200 Investment!) that slip over the band so that when the band un-clasps (guaranteed it will) those rings prevent the band from completely opening and falling off your wrist. SAMSUNG!!!...please come up with a clasping band that stays clasped and supply it to us customers at no charge. What were your developers thinking when they made this really great smart fitness watch only to put this really cheesy clasp on it??? So Samsung, DO THE RIGHT THING!
Other than that one issue I highly recommend this item. I think it's $30 less at Best Buy than what I paid for it ($180).

I have been using the gear for about 2 weeks and i really like it the only time i take it off is when i take a shower or its on charge you get about 3 days of use and it charges up in less than an hour. it syncs up with the s health app and it tracks sleep which i really like cause your can figure out exactly how much sleep you are getting. also when you go for your work out you can put your music directly onto the gear through the gear app and listen to music through the watch using Bluetooth headphones which means you have less to carry around when going for your workout.

This is a good entry level smart watch/fitness tracker. It records resting heart rate periodically throughout the day and can automatically sense some fitness activities. Paired with Samsung's app S-Health it is good. Also accepts notifications of emails, text messages, calls, to name a few handy smart watch features. However, my cell phone is not Samsung, so I have not been allowed to edit Notifications selections or apps after the initial set up process. I tried about 5 times, returning to factory defaults each time in order to get my notifications set up. My phone is newer so I doubt it's anything beyond devices communicating poorly with each other. Just be aware of this and check compatibility BEFORE getting this device. It did pair beautifully with an older unactivated Samsung phone I had laying around and even allowed me to edit Notifications.

Great fitness tracker -- simple yet effective

TL:DR version first, followed by some elaboration at the bottom.
Pros:
- design
- clasp system (see below)
- battery life
- User Interface (UI)
- connectivity (at least with Note 5/7, which are the two phones I use)
Cons:
- lack of apps/screens (again, will elaborate below)
- charger pod (blah blah blah....see below)
PRO's
-- clasp system. Don't know what people are doing (orrrrr not doing) to have this thing come undone, let alone fall off. I am extremely active (soccer 3-4 days a week, mowing the yard, play the drums) bottom line, lots of stuff where my arms are all over the place and/or coming into contact with any number of things.
The clasp hasn't budged until I physically click it to remove it for charging (I'd say I'm getting 40-42 hours on a full-charge, btw). I'd even say I like it better than traditional watch latch systems. Those lift my hand off the desk while at work, while this is nice and streamlined/flat and has a nice "barely there" feel to it. All the while it is *sturdy*. People must not be pushing the tab in the entire way, thus LOCKING it in place.
Cons
-- lack of apps. On my previous watches/trackers there was always extra apps to be had. One of them, a tip calculator, was LOVELY to have at your finger tips. Paying the bill and need to calculate a weird/random total? Took 5 seconds. Need to split it amongst the table for work or when with friends? Sooooo nice. That's just one of many apps I use(d) on a near daily basis which I now don't have access to.
Could I simply get my phone out and use the calculator in those situations? Yup. But, that isn't the point. It's a very simple task (while I know isn't a deal breaker) seems to be sooooo simple (excuse the redundancy) to me that I don't see why something like that isn't included...even if just a simp...errr, basic calculator, I'd be good.
-- charging pod. Ok, the cord on this is pathetic. It is very cheap feeling and WAY too short. You don't get an actual outlet plug in the box, just a USB-based plug. Not too big a deal on it's own, but the fact it is coupled with the aforementioned ~2 1/2 foot cord. Speaking of the cord; it appears to share it's base-DNA with dental floss -- something no modern day, name-branded electronics device should EVER have said about it.
Allllll that being said -- love this thing. Does what I (actually) need it to do perfectly.

This was actually a gift for my girlfriend. We originally got her the fit bit blaze which is what she preferred because it looked more like a watch. Regardless of the looks, she waneeds the features like calorie counter, heart rate, sleep, phone link (for lack of a better phrase) and music controls from the device. While the fit bit was a nice looking piece of equipment, it's major flaw was that it wouldn't sync with the galaxy s7. It would with several other phones including the s6 and the s6 edge. But this device was able to do most if not all that she wanted and it syncs with the s7. Should have started with this one. She is very happy with this device. I would recommend this product.

Works well for both android and iOS phones and devices !
Got it for $130 on best buy as a deal .
Charging takes a while.
Solid Bluetooth connection.
Had a power saving mode to use in basic mode that only tracks movements .
Overall an impressive product for the price range .

I went to Best Buy to purchase a Fit Bit and then fell in love with the Samsung Gear Fit 2! This fitness watch has been a great motivator and I've lost 10 pounds since purchasing it :D It has a lot of really nice options like being able to change the display watch face to fun backgrounds! You can easily track your water intake, calories burnt, steps taken, floors climbed, heart rate and sleep. I love the Find My Phone feature! it even works when My phone is on silent! It also now has a Weather app and stopwatch. It has a music player that works with Spotify, though I have not used it. I find I need to charge this watch about every 2-3 days. It occasionally thinks I'm cycling when I'm driving my old van on the hwy. I like the look of the watch and band, though I have had the band unsnap several times but I always notice before it has a chance to actually fall off. I would definitely recommend this fitness watch!

Great fitness watch. So far, haven't had any issues with it. It is accurate enough for my needs. Easy to use and allows you to keep your phone at home but still track steps, distance, map and even play tunes.
Only wish it had a speaker.

The display is great; bright and clear and very responsive to touch. The GPS tracking seems to work pretty good having used it while bike riding. There is a good amount of info provided on screen that you can few while exercising (bike ride, etc.) and the mini map of your ride that's viewable when you're finished is pretty cool as well. The band has good connectivity with the S Health and is quick to sync. Sleep tracking has been pretty accurate in detecting sleep time and is interesting to keep track of. The 4GB of storage is great as well, I've loaded several hundred songs and paired it to Bluetooth earbuds to use while working out at the gym. The only minor negative would be battery life, which last about 2-3 days depending on usage. For the amount this band can do and the size of the battery, the battery life doesn't really surprise me though. Overall, I'm very happy with this fitness band.

I gotta say, this thing has surprised me how many features it has. I love the interaction and the notifications you get as you wear it. Two things I dont like, you can answer phone calls with it but cant talk through it. I've seen other watches capable of it. Second, you cant swim with it. It's supposed to be a smart watch. Watches have been water proof forever. It feels like a step back and a annoyance. Wish I could keep track of my calorie count when swimming. Other than those two, great product.

I was unsure buying the gear fit if it would function well as a smart watch, but I was pleasantly surprised at its performance. It will allow you to read your text messages and reply with one of your preset responses or an emoticon and it has some convenient built in apps like a timer. Aesthetically it is low profile and looks good even though the band is silicone. You can also buy other bands online. If you use S Health it is a must as it integrates perfectly to track your steps, heart rate, etc. One additional feature is that you can transfer 4 GB of music to the Gear Fit2 and listen without your phon(using Bluetooth headphone) while it records your run or bike ride since it has a built in GPS. If you are into health and tech this is a Best Buy.

Gear Fit 2. Time display smaller than Gear Fit 1. And no date - miss the date and larger display. Also don't like that this newer version has to be plugged into my computer to recharge and not a wall outlet like Fit 1. The band closure button sometimes slips out of hole on band. Has some more "wow" features that are better than old one. Old one only lasted 10 months, guess the internal battery died. Get the 2 year protection warranty. Much bigger display than tiny Fit Bit display.

I love this watch especially because it tracks sleep and steps, plus a ton of other things that I don't use. I love that it links to my phone's alarm. So I can swipe to snooze the alarm right from my wrist - instead of hopping up to get my phone off the charger. However, you can never totally rely on it because it may run out of battery while you sleep. So always have your phone nearby for a back up. I like that I can get text notifications too. Be great if they'd invent one with texting option - like, my kid can "draw a text" reply on his i-watch. Or be able to speak a reply. I also like that you can customize the watch with your own screen. Also like that I can compete with friends who also have samsung phones.

I've had my Fit 2 for a little over a year now, at first I just used it to keep track of my daily routines. Recently I've been using it to set new goals for myself in an effort to lose weight. When coupled with apps on a Samsung phone I've been able to achieve my goals.

So, when I first got this watch, I didn't care for it. I mainly use these for fitness and tracking. This watch wasn't very accurate at all and the GPS was a complete joke. I would literally be almost a mile into my jog before it locked on to my position. It still tracks you before it locks, not by GPS, and it almost seemed like a guess on how far I went and my pace. So, it wasn't cutting it for me. I returned it to try another one and it had the same results. I was ready to return the product and try another line having great results from other brands in the past. Samsung just put out an update a few days ago that has as far as I can tell completely fixed the GPS portion on it. I went for a jog yesterday and it locked on within seconds. I was very pleased with the results and it seemed spot on with my distances and stats. The reason I was so torn with taking this watch back and keeping it was because of the 4gb of on board storage. Having your music installed on your watch and having GPS on board really gives you a sense of freedom when running. This product offers more than anyone else out there and at this price point should not be missed. It's comfortable, very lightweight, and great looking too. It works great with the Samsung S Health app and gives you very detailed stats and even a weekly breakdown each week. I HIGHLY recommend a screen protector on it as the screen will scratch with everyday use. Best Buy didn't offer any when I bought this so I got some online and they work great. I'm very happy with this watch and honestly wouldn't change anything on it.

I've used Fitbit and other fitness trackers, but this one has been my favorite. The steps are pretty consistent with what I was getting with my other fitness trackers. I love having the GPS built in so I don't have to rely on my phone. The battery has been lasting 3-4 days. If I do some really long workouts using the GPS it does cut down on the battery life. The Gear Fit 2 has been comfortable for day wear and sleeping. I like the sleep tracking. It's a bit off for when I actually fall asleep, but not terribly. Only issue I've really noticed is that lately when I'm driving around town it's been auto-recognizing it as cycling.

I am not a 5 star kind of person since everything can be improved on, but I am on the on the fence because I LOVE my Gear Fit2!!!!! I will be honest it took me some time to figure out all the settings but that was on me. My work schedule is always beyond hectic. I love how light it is and with my job the lighter the better. I am up as early as 0430 with days that can last as long as 2230. With my busy always on the go lifestyle this watch has been great at keeping me up to the moment of my day. I love that I can just begin my workouts and it knows what I am doing. Having something that can keep up with me at the pace that I always seem to be moving at (all go no stop) and tracking my rest without the use of a secondary app is GREAT & I LOVE IT!! I would like to see more watch faces available for it, but what they do have help support a healthy way of life. I thank you for allowing me to voice my insight on your new Gear Fit2.

I absolutely love my Gear Fit 2. I got it for upgrading to the Galaxy Note 7, and I would recommend it to everyone. I love having my notifications come to my wrist so I am not always looking at my phone. Using the Samsung messaging app, I can do quick replies back from the Gear Fit 2 without having to get my phone out. It helps me keep track of my steps, and makes me want to walk more. Being able to connect Bluetooth headphones to the Gear fit 2 allows you listen to audio directly from the Gear fit 2. This was very helpful while cutting grass and exercising. This keeps you from having to carry your phone with you at all times. You can set your phone to Sync to the Gear Fit 2 while it is on charge. The Gear fit 2 has built in Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, heart rate monitor, and GPS. All these features are great when it comes to walking, running, or cycling. You can use apps on your phone to keep track of where you were, and the path you took. I also love the sleep monitor, it lets me know how much deep sleep I got and what my heart rate was during the time I was asleep. My only complaint is that the battery life is not the best. With all the features and everything turned on, I get about 2 days before I have to charge it. since charging does not take long, I put it on charge when I sit down and know I will not be getting up for a little bit, that way I do not miss anything. The battery life is the only reason I gave it a 4 star rating. Everything else is awesome. It is a definite buy.

Very easy to see and the curved design is sweet. This fitness tracker has a lot of features, some of them work, others leave a lot to be desired. Steps, heartbeat per minute, running and most exercise functions work okay. The sleep tracker in a word: AWFUL, the locking mechanism just as bad. It comes unlocked way too easy.
