I picked up the Gear fit2 after my Microsoft band 2 went the way of the buffalo. It is good at tracking steps and monitoring sleep. It's floor climbing sensor is useless. One night I was laying on the couch tossing and turning and was informed I had reached a new record floors climbed. It is also pretty limited on the types of workouts in your activity mode. Like most trackers it will assume you work out a lot if you talk with your hands. Finally the options for watch faces are quite limited unless you want to pay for them and unless you turn the brightness down the power doesn't last very long.

Great device. Does everything you need. Battery could last a little longer. If you use the music player as you exercise as I do, you will need to charge every day. Charges quickly though. Also GPS takes about a minute to find you. Once it finds you, it's good.

I purchased this watch to replace a standard watch. I've never had a smart watch and I really like this one. Of some of the options, I like that you can customize the screen, get notifications from your phone and monitor your exercise. It is also extremely comfortable and I forget I'm wearing it. I would purchase it again and have bought one for another family member and they agree it's a great watch.

I was really skeptical of buying this because I was worried I wouldn't use it as much as the cost. I LOVE IT. I hardly ever take it off. It monitors your heart rate, steps, activity, oxygen, sleep, etc! I love that you can download custom themes. (I have mine set to be a pip boy from fallout.) I love that it tracks my sleeping and how it reminds me to walk. I've definitely noticed an increase in my activity levels since buying this. OH! And the bonus stuff! It connects to the phone and still shows texts and calls. You don't have to buy another line with it either. I love that I can respond to texts, tell my phone to answer a call, and look at all the different notifications to decide if it is even worth looking at my phone. Another bonus, if you're anything like me, there is a "find my phone" button. (It also goes vice versa for your watch.) Seriously, this thing is amazing and I am thankful I bought it.

The Gear Fit 2 does everything I want it to. I'm able to check and respond to notifications. It tracks my steps, stairs, sleep and heart rate. The Samsung app opens up a whole world of options and additional features, such as challenges with friends or other owners, water intake, coffee intake...ect. It takes a few days of wearing it to get use to it, but now I find myself forgeting that it's on.

Previously I owned the first samsung gearfit and I loved it. It wasn't so accurate as far as counting steps, but it had a heart monitor, calorie intake and trends. But, it got old, so i decided to buy the next one up samsung gearfit2. I love the shape, it connects to my phone, alerts me for messages, emails, viber, shows steps a bit more accurately, shows lost calories and measures heart rate while exercising! It is a bit better than the old version, but it's a bit more robust and if you want a more "fancy" screen, you have to buy it!!! Not happy with the available "free" screens either!

Decided to try the GearFit over some of the other options in this category as I am a fan of all things Samsung. It does the job regarding tracking steps and fitness activities pretty well and even surprises me sometimes on what it detects I'm doing. The only complaint is the battery life. Hard to keep it charged if you Bluetooth it to other devices, battery doesn't even last a day and then becomes useless as a watch. I know there are battery saving features, but when turned on they significantly limit the functionality of most apps. Still good overall so far.

I read many reviews on different items in the tracker/smart watch category. I bought this because of the reviews I read, the price, color and features. The pink color is nice and not many devices in the same category have different colors. I thought the price was expensive, but after reading reviews of these devices, found out that the price for this was reasonable and inexpensive as compared to others. The same is true for the battery life, I thought it was short, but according to reviews, it is pretty good for a device in this category. The features are pretty good and a nice array of them. At times, the step counter is not completely accurate, or doesn't start counting immediately, as my UP3 did. I liked my UP3, but it did not have nearly as many features as the gear 2. Also, at times, the device does not differentiate between different exercises, unless I put the particular exercise in. The sleep tracker can be off at times as well. The UP3's step counter and sleep tracker were spot on, but I wanted more features. Also, I didn't like the way the UP3 charged. I can also check emails, text and phone calls on the gear2. You can't answer calls on the device, but can maneuver it to answer calls on your phone without having to touch your phone to answer the call, even with wireless headsets. You can reply to text messages with short replies already in place. You can listen to music through the device with a wireless headset hookup. I like that feature a lot, because you don't have to have your phone on you to have music with your workout, or replying to a quick response on your device. You literally don't need your phone during workouts because the main things like music and quick response to a text message can be achieved through the device. The band is oblong and semi-circular, so it is comfortanle on the wrist. The screen is big, but not too big, snd very easy to read, as well as bright, no squinting. There may be somewhat of an issue in bright sunlight. You can change the watch faces, and there are many to choose from, as well as the health app is alright. There are other nice features as well. Overall, I like the gear2 a lot and would recommend it if looking for a device with these features and not expensive. Only negative, only for androids and you cannot answer your phone calls, but then it would be more expensive.

Before this Samsung Gear Fit 2 I had 3 Fitbit Charge's. I loved my Fitbit but had battery issues with every one of them and that made me switch to try the Samsung product. I do miss my Fitbit but the Gear Fit 2 does have a lot of nice features to it. The Cons..... I am very active so the battery on non power saving mode will last me about 1 1/2 - 2 days before needing to charge. The other bad thing it that the clip/clasp on the band is not very dependable and loosens easy. I applied a bitbelt to help keep it from falling off so easily.

Let's start off with the positives:
1) The Gear Fit 2 is aesthetically pleasing to the eyes. But nobody will mistake it as a regular watch despite the fact that it also tells time.
2) The curved AMOLED screen looks great and is even legible under bright sunshine if you turn its brightness all the way up.
3) It tracks a wide variety of workouts, not just your steps.
4) Continuous heart rate monitoring. That's a nice feature to have.
5) It sits comfortably on my wrist. Even comes in 2 different sizes (length of the band).
6) Magnetic charging dock connects quite easily.
The not-so-good:
1) Mediocre battery life. Samsung claims you'll get 3-5 days. I can barely get 2 full days out of it. And that's with the screen brightness dialed down and some notifications turned off.
2) Lack of accuracy. Sometimes the floor count is way off. Steps count is acceptable. I have no way to verify if the heartrate monitor is accurate. Let's just say it could be off by +/-10BPM.
3) Could add more activity types.
4) Proprietary charging method. Lose your charging dock/dongle and you'll have to buy another.
5) Color AMOLED screen is nice, but an E-ink screen might be more practical in terms of sunlight legibility and battery life.
6) Limited compatibility with non Samsung phone. Some functions don't work properly when paired with non Samsung phones.
Overall, it is not a bad choice if you're looking an activity tracker with continuous heart rate monitoring. I recommend getting one when it's on sale. At $179 it is by no means overpriced, but if you can find one at $129 that makes it a much more appealing choice.

I got this GearFit2 so it could seamlessly interact with my Samsung cell. Once you get the 2 apps on your cell you can set it up to your liking. Dial faces,color,stats...whatever you want.
I have had this for a few months now and have used it everyday, So I can tell you my experience with it.
1. The band is lame. Its a rubber mini plug that you push thru the holes in the other side of the band. As time goes on it starts to wear out and not want to stay in the hole. Plus I was trail running and brushed my wrist across my chest and didn't realize the thing had fallen off. It just isn't that secure.
2. The stair counter is WAY off. By the end of the day I look at my stats and according to my GearFit2 I've climbed 1300 flights of stairs. That would've been pretty cool but no way!
3. It says GPS built in. I expected to see the map and my location as I moved. Not so. The only time I've found an actual GPS screen is when I go into my running log and scroll down the stats. At the end it shows a screenshot of a GPS on what my route was.
4. Pairing to my cell is a great feature. I can keep my cell in my pocket and look at the text message on my wrist. Not only do you get the text but photos and emojis too. You can also respond to texts with a preprogrammed response or one that you set up yourself.
5. The battery life is all over the charts. Some times it lasts 3 days. Some days it last a day.
6. I wouldn't take this swimming or in the shower. I sweat a lot when exercise and I'm keep it wiped off just to make sure the liquid doesn't get in between the buttons and into the guts of this thing.

This version of the gear fit is much better than the previous generation. I personally love having an mp3 player on board so I can go running without my phone and have access to my music. The screen seems wider and the extra button helps with navigation and/or setting quick access to preferred apps. Love the GPS tracking that allows me to map out my runs with friends.
Con: Battery life is not great. Generally lasts about 2 days and I will have to recharge. If i use certain features, such as stop watch or timers that require the screen to stay on, battery life can drain a bit faster. Have to tinker with the settings and brightness.

I use it every day - stylish, comfortable and reliable! The band needs to be redesigned as this was a replacement for one that was lost when it fell off due to the band coming undone. Love it, other than that!

I had an issue with my old fitness tracker so I upgraded to this and I have been very pleased! So many features like stairs climbed, heart beat sensor, and workout tracking. I also love the display and just has made me even more conscious of my activity.
Only Reason for 4/5: I really wish it was fully waterproof and you could swim with it on. Also, although the band is very comfortable I find that it can pop off randomly which is worrisome. So I wish it stayed on the wrist a bit easier.

I purchased this watch for our son for Christmas and it is great. It allows him to see who is calling/texting him, track his steps and heart rate. He will be starting track again this spring which will be great for him.
