After "downsizing" to a MacBook Pro with a 256GB SSD and needing more storage, I tried a networked usb external drive. That simply proved too slow. The Samsung T3 is a speed demon. It is now "permanently" attached to my MBP. It is speedy enough to run a virtual machine. Absolutely indispensable!

These drives are fast, tiny, sturdy, and password protected. Everything i wanted. I've been very happy with them. But be aware the software is broken with macOS Sierra. They tell me they're seeking a fix, but I've heard nothing yet.

Love this drive! It's a perfect, compact size for travel. I shoot a lot of pictures on vacation and needed a small size to carry along. Very light-weight...and it's fast, too!

Finally a portable drive that truly fits in a shirt pocket! 500 Gb of storage not much larger than a matchbox. Also, super fast compared to a conventional hard drive!

This SSD runs faster than the traditional HDD, so depending on the speed you require, this may make a considerable contribution to saving time if dealing with large files or videos that are being written to the drive. For small sized files not being written in large quantities simultaneously, you probably won't be saving much time. It should also be noted that when a large quantity of large files are being written simultaneously, or in rapid succession (like backing up a complete large hard drive, the unit does generate considerably more heat than a traditional HDD and noticeably slows down when hot. I found that putting a small fan blowing across the case keeps the drive cool, and the SSD unit does not slow down. For me, the drive has saved me a lot of time and I haven't had any reliability nor error problems with it. It was well worth the extra dollars cost over a normal HDD. This is an external SSD, but I also have a Samsung internal SSD in my laptop, and the increased speed of running programs and handling files is very noticeably evident. I have not run programs on the external SSD, but would assume that you would get nearly the same results depending on the speed of your USB connection as compared to the speed of your internal serial bus on your laptop.

I do photography and needed something portable for easy travel, but large enough for RAW files, and FAST. Nothing better than SSD hard drives and this tiny one wins, hands down. Cost is a little up there, but worth every penny for me as I backup images quickly, while on location.

Compact. Light wt. As fast as they get presently. None better. A bit expensive.

Light weight, pocket size, amazing speed upload and download

I needed a backup drive for my wife's laptop and this external drive fits the bill very well. It's small enough to be easily portable and fast enough for my needs. I also like the amble storage capacity.

This is my third Samsung SSD and, as always, I am extremely pleased with Samsung external memories. It has simple (not complicated) design, it's light weight, easy to use, and provides fast data transferring. The only questionable thing is its endurance. Somehow it looks fragile so I handle it with care.

I work with audio files, large and small. Through the years I’ve used many standard hard drives and they’ve worked in varying degrees. But moving to SSDs was a much bigger improvement than I’d realized. The speed, stability and reliability have been huge - most notably the speed.

Needed an external SSD to go with the limited internal storage on my laptop's SSD. I've installed the Logic Pro X sound library on its own partition on the SSD & created a separate partition for storage of any games or large files that I'd rather not keep on the laptop itself. It's made things a lot easier for me to manage and the size of the Samsung T3 means it'll be easy to take around with me whenever the need arises. I don't use any of the encryption things that came with it so I can't speak to it at all, but for my uses it's absolutely been a 5-star product.

I backup and migrate a lot of PC's. It was getting where the performance and capacity of the typical USB flash drive was an issue. This drive out performed all the better flash drives I had and the larger size is great. The write speed is critical when backing up large data and that is where this drive shines. It is dependent on the PC and the type of USB port used. There's also a difference in speed with the type and size of files that are backed up. I have not seen anything close to the rated 450 even using USB 3.1 but I'm satisfied with the performance.

Plug and play for Xbox one. Speeds up load times tremendously. Great for Fallout 4, Witcher 3 and GTA V. Load times cut by 50-66%. If your budget allows it's a must have.

This external SSD is excellent. It has a USB-C socket and comes with a USB 3 to USB-C cable for compatibility with older devices. This my second purchase of one of these - the first was for my 2016 MacBook Pro with USB-C (Thunderbolt 3) connections. It works very well - is very small and the transfer speeds are very fast. So I didn't hesitate to buy another for use with my Windows 10 PC. I can't get over how small these are and the speed. Recommended.

This is an extraordinarily quiet, cool, small and highly portable SSD drive that takes up less space in a pocket than a business card case. I researched many SSD drives of various storage capacities and picked this one as it met my needs for storage of music and photos. I have had it now for more than a month and it seems to work flawlessly.

storage is great speed and the size. the price is good.

The speed of this drive over USB3 is indistinguishable from the internal SSD on my Macbook Pro; especially after installing the driver from the Samsung website. I use it to store large files (Native Instruments 280 Gb, World of Warcraft 46Gb, Steam Library 60Gb) and it has been flawless. It's also smaller than a standard SSD.

Exactly what I was looking for a fast durable hard drive that I could use with a usbC cord.
